2012 Rockshox Sid RLT - Remote Lockout

Nice light forks with remote lockout. Relatively cheap for a mis version of a racing fork. Flexible from 80 - 120 mm travel. Easy to service and flexible setup with dual air. Excellent dual flow rebound with adjustable low speed. Compression damping not as flexible as RCT3, but has a remote.

Great price for this on Merlin.

My other bikes run on Fox (Talas & 140R) but this seems to me is a much stiffer fork, where I don't get as much bob - which is what I needed as it's predominantly used for XC on my HT

Great light forks, have coped easily with everything I've thrown at them including the gap descent on the recent Brecon Beast

I've always owned Fox forks (and found them plush and reliable) so when it came to buying forks for my Cannondale Scalpel build, I initially intended to buy Fox. But after considering weight and budget (the cheapest comparable Fox fork was ~0AUS), I decided to try the SID.

I had read some reviews saying that the SIDs flex a bit in hard cornering, so I decided to go with the through axle to stiffen them up a bit. The weight came in at nearly 1.5kg, a bit more than the 1.38kg quoted for the Tapered steerer with 9mm QR, but for 0AUS I'm stoked! I only wish Merlin stocked them in Tapered steerer.

I haven't ridden with them yet but I'll update after a couple of months of testing.

As for Merlin's service - top notch! They were here in Australia within a week of ordering and at 20% less than any other website. I just wish I discovered Merlin earlier.

First things first.. I ordered these forks one day and had them the next! Can't fault that..

As for the forks themselves, what can I say? Superb! Very smooth and they absorb big hits and small bumps with ease. After fitting the forks, have a play with the settings to get the feel you want! I put slightly more air in both positive and negative than was recommended and they feel great! The look and feel of the fork is great, they have a quality feel about them and on each leg, near the top, there is a slight bulge which I think looks brilliant! It's hard to see in the pictures but it's there! Although I wasn't really concerned with the weight when I bought them, I was amazed at how light they are! I'd be tempted to say the box and packaging they came in weighs more.. The service from Merlin has been brilliant and I'll definitely be making further purchases from the website!!!
