Sram PG990 9 Speed Cassette

This is the only 9 speed cassette I'll buy!

Well built, tough bit of kit. The previous one stood up to last years monsoon climate, snow and mud, riding twice a week throughout the season.

Been using these on many bikes.. light and last reasonably well. Shifting performance is good.. the red spider also looks nice on the rare occasions it's clean enough to see. As always with Merlin the price was good and the delivery was very quick

The PG990 is a reliable piece of kit that keeps churning out the miles. It is not too soft, so doesn't wear out too quickly and provides good VFM.

A lot of cassette for the money! Light and easy to assemble which will help maintenance and cleaning

Great light weight cassette, worth the money and goes well with the KMC X10 SL 10 speed chain. Another 5 stars Merlin!

Well engineered cassette. Supplied with new locking ring, so all you need to replace your old Shimano cassette. Not yet convinced that the gear change is as quick as the HG80 it replaced but looks great and is nice and light. Glad I bought it.

Nice light weight cassette 280 grams!! shimano HG50 is 490grams what a difference!!. Couple with a light weight chain you will have a ight set up. Good service from merlins and fast delivery.

Best cassette I have owned. Mostly because it stays cleaner than the cheaper ones. But it is lighter and shifts slightly faster to boot.

This is my 2nd PG990 from Merlin and it's a great 9-speed cassette. Very smooth and fast on changes, light and priced fantastically. Great value for a top quality product,

This is the 2nd PG990 i have used and have found no problems with it whatsoever. Slick gear changes and very durable.
9sp stuff has come down in price too making it even better value.

Light, smooth shifting, looks nice with the colour spider and a great price... I've used PG990's for a while on various mtb and touring bikes.

Well made cassette, the alloy splined body locates well on the free hub. No more damaged splines.

I run these cassettes on all my mountain bikes and find that they are a really good combination of price, performance and durability.

I bought this cassette to replace the entry level SRAM PG950 cassette that was fitted to my bike as standard.

The PG990 is a beautiful bit of kit, the red alloy spider really stands out and looks the business, it also performs the very important job (important for me anyway) of protecting your free-hub from the additional torque pressure damage that can occur from a more traditional cassette (i.e. the PG950) in that the alloy spider spreads the load across the free hub, well, for the largest 5 gears anyway.

I have read on many forums and reviews that other users shifting performances were radically improved by switching to this cassette.

To be honest, I haven't actually noticed any difference. I had a good look at the PG950 and it has the exact same tooth profiling and shift ramps that are on the PG990, the smallest two rings are actually identical, the rest look like they've just been cut out differently for the PG990...

To be honest, I like this approach, it shows that SRAM care about their customers, whether they're buying entry level kit or higher up their range, the differences are in weight and build quality rather than in actual product performance.

Would have liked a red lockring and spacer as shown in most images you see on the net, although I believe they are actually older stock now - the new ones actually come with the silver lockring and spacer as supplied here.

The PG990 is very light and slick shifting. The coloured spider is all very fancy, but it soon gets covered in muck and filth.

Quality product at a great price. Been a while since I shopped at Merlin and the price and speed of delivery is first class. Ordered at 11am and delivered by 10am the next day on Standard delivery! Will be back again...

Nice looking cassette with the alloy body on 5 cogs, helps to stop these ones biting into the freehub on my bike. Good price at merlin too.

lightweight product combined with the sram PG991 chain and fast turnround by Merlin, wouldn't order from anywhere else.

This is the second one of these that I have bought , yes they do wear out but the first one has been used hard for a couple of years . These are very light with excellent shifting & @ merlins prices pretty good value . I would recommend them.
