JDI like this tyre since it's very well protected and doesn't cut up. It's a very good compromise between grip and speed.
Mr DawsonThese tyres were expensive but thus far have proven to be worth it. They're handling all the peaks can throw at them, they roll fast and hold in the corners. Very confident tyre
FekkeRunning them both front and rear and very satisfied. Works perfect with tubeless mount.
Mr MurrayFantastic all rounder. Does well at a bit of everything. Rolls really well and fast, but loads of grip.
Mr PerieThe Mountain King Protection was to replace a Race King I had previously on the front. The tyre comes up slightly small for a 2.2 compared to the Race King. There is enough volume though and the tyre sealed up well with Stans , only had to re inflate once and has been great ever since. I used the tyre straight away for a XC race and it grips really well and actually feels faster than a previous Nobby Nic 2.25 I have run also. Only thing I noticed was the tread seemed uneven when I spun the wheel but it does not affect the ride or handling. I would def recommend this tyre for anything!!
Mr ColbyRead a few reviews and decided to try these on the front to replace my worn Rubber Queen. So far so good!!. On first impressions they come up much smaller than the 2.2 RQ and slightly smaller than the X-king protection (also 2.2) I am running on the back. These seem to grip nicely in the damp conditions and dusty hardpack I have been running them on recently and roll reasonably quickly on the grey stuff. Running tubeless on Stans Arch EX rims, they were quite tight to get on and I couldn't get to seal at first but popped a tube in overnight then tried again and they popped on a treat. Less sidewall pinholes than I had on the x-kings too. Overall impressions so far seem very positive!!
Mr LevettCan't recommend highly enough Mountain King tires set up tubeless very simple first class service from Merlin as usual
Mr BaxterThese tyres are every bit as good as the reviews I had read. I had some older Panaracer Cinder 2.25`s on my bike which always felt like they were washing out in the corners. The MK2`s hold their line much better, and have really increased my confidence in the corners.
Mr thompsonThis is my second set of these, the first 2.2 I ripped some of the lugs off riding in coed y brenin, which was a little disapointing! but it did take a thrashing. Maybe I was running to high pressure?? I havent found a tyre which I believe is an all rounder as good as these. I love these tyres! Great grip, clear the mud well, perfect for most situations. Which is why I went back for seconds Yes they are pricey but well worth the money.
Mr SampsonThis is a good tyre for most riding rolls well and works just fine ghetto tubeless
Mr TemplemanGreat, quick service from Merlin and best price In the UK (including delivery). The tyres are lightweight, grippy, roll fast and have tough sidewalls. Excellent.
Mr longriggConti black chilli compound tyres work well in a wide range of conditions wet or dry. Mnt King mk2 is a fine example of the quality conti range
Mr MitchellExpensive and not sure they're worth the money-depends how ell they wear. They're light for a big tyre but can be a bit scrabbly in the dry on corners, not had chance to try them in the wet yet but suspect they will be better than the old version.
chris nametabBrought this tyre for a weeks riding in the alps. Wanted a light but tough tyre to run tubeless, (had a couple of side wall cuts with spesh tyres). These have very robust feeling carcase and fitted the ZTR rims precisely. They inflated and clicked into place without any trouble and remained inflated even without sealant. On the front they worked really well plenty of grip, no side wall issues, no leaks with sealant, quality construction.
Mr ThomsonNot been able to try them yet but they are very light, seem to have solid good sidewalls considering the weight. tread and width looks perfect and if what I've heard about the black chilli is right then they should last a while as well! having looked around online, at present merlin cycles also offer the best price on them as well! can't really give 5 stars till I've tried them though
