Excellent grips. First time used on bike was for a 100 mile MTB endurance challenge - set them up in a comfortable position and didn't even bother to adjust. Took a few miles to get used to, especially on the more technical descents, but were comfortable throughout the day especially on the climbs and didn't have pains in my hands that I was anticipating from my usual grips. Used gloves with very little padding and they seem to be best set up. Can't see me going back to "normal" grips unless for shorter more technical rides. Expensive, but well worth it to avoid hand pain. Merlin service excellent and quick as usual.
I find these really comfortable to use and significantly reduce pressure on hands.
Purchased these to replace a pair of Ergon GP1's which I have used for 3 years, but the soft pad deteriorated leaving hands covered in sticky goo after every ride. The GS1's have a much firmer feel. The pads on these grips are much harder and should be more durable. The harder compound GS1's have good support and are more comfortable than the old softer GP1's. Well worth the money.
Very nice feel. Hoping these won`t wear out quite as quickly as the GP1 grips.
Very well made and designed. Good control and comfort
Great service from merlin cycles, I have ulner nerve damage in my left hand, Bought these ergon gs1 grips to see if they would help, As they have great reviews on line and so far they have been excellent.
Best price on the web for a much needed cure for numb fingers. This is a must for any enduance mtb cyclist. The anatomical shape of the platform along with the two different compounds for different areas of the hand are perfect. Takes a couple of rides to set them up perfectly but once set up is keyed in they make the difference between a tortureous ride and an acceptable level of comfort.
Really nice product. Was getting exceptionally sore hands on long (3hr+ rides). Feels completely different. Hands still getting sore - but in different places and nowhere near as bad after 6 hours. Takes a bit of adjustment so that the 'wings' are in the right place. Still felt really secure on technical terrain unlike some negative reviews. Not so good if you hang off the back of your saddle on descents as the grips prevent you rotating back. Though you're not supposed to do that anyway!
