This is an excellent light with plenty of power options to ensure all conditions are catered for from pitch black country roads to the well lit city streets... And the strobe function is awesome for daytime riding. Service from an international perspective was A1 .. Thanks to the Merlin team !!
What can I say this light is awesome, very well made and has a solid construction. The light from this small unit is truly remarkable 780 lumens is just about as powerful as my car headlights. The handlebar mount has a very secure connection to the light and the helmet mount is a bonus, particularly if you want to go off road.
Awesome. We'll made and powerful enough to light up unlit roads. Even on the intermittent flash setting, which is brilliant as the light is never actually fully off, road signs are illuminated 50 metres ahead. No way can motorists miss you. Only one negative is the rubber strip inside the clamp which goes round and protects the handlebar, is too thick for 31.8 bars, especially those like mine with flattened top profile. Come on Moon, amateur error there! Should come with different widths of rubber insert. I ended up using a bit of old inner tube.
What a fantastic piece of kit - I use this light for my 20 minute (each way) daily commute and on the standard (non-flashing) setting, lasts me the whole week between charges. However, should I take the "scenic" route, a quick recharge either at home or at work is made easy via the standard USB charging cable. The useful indicator light lets you know when you are running low on charge, allowing you to drop to the low power setting if need be, rather than running out completely!
The "high" setting provides more than enough light for a ride through the local parks on my way home, and although I've not been "properly" off-road at night yet, the "overdrive" setting is almost as bright as my car headlights which I should imagine would be plenty bright enough for off-roading, especially as this light comes with both handlebar mount (which I use for my commute) AND a helmet mount which would be more suitable off-road riding.
All-in-all, this is a great all-round light that I would highly recommend!
Very nice light, feels very well made and very bright, perhaps too bright on full power for the road, 2nd or 3rd setting for main roads and full power for the trails I think
Excellent. Quality piece of kit. Solid aluminium construction, not too heavy, recharging works well. Amazingly bright - comparable to car headlight and I usually use the second brightest setting. Good value for a light this bright which would have been 3 times the weight and price a couple of years ago.
WOW!!!!!! This light is very bright, like really bright, easy lights up dark roads, feels very well made easy to fit, would defo recommend this product
Awesome service from merlin again
Ordered two of these lights to replace a Magicshine MJ880, a seperate lamp and battery system, because I wanted self contained, compact, lightweight units with replaceable batteries - the Moon XP 780 ticks all of these boxes.
I use mine for trail riding, one dipped down to light up the immediate 8ft'ish area, the other tilted a bit up if I need to see further down the trail. Majority of the time I only need the dipped unit on at 50% coupled with a helmet light, the second light gets turned on only for really fast or hairy descents.
The beam itself is very focused and doesn't give a wide side to side spread, a bit of a problem on narrow, twisty singletrack but you get used to it and a helmet light sorts it out.
The bar clamp is great, doesn't move at all, holds the light securely and lets you twist the light a few degrees left and right. The helmet attachment is equally good - easy to install and very secure.
The run times indicated on the box are pretty spot on as is the charge time, battery itself is easy to take out and replace with another for those longer rides.
All in a great light... narrowly misses out on 5 stars becuase I think they could have included a spare battery.
