A sole made of thermoplastic material enriched with carbon powder that
thanks to it?s peculiar shape guarantees a high degree of rigidity while
staying lightweight. The front end of the sole is divided into two parts: a
mid-sole in fiber with added carbon powder and an outsole. The natural
rubber rear part had been designed to ensure maximum grip also during
Comfortable boot, maybe not quite as warm as expected. After 30 minutes in -18 degrees C, my feet were getting cold. I normally use size 42 street shoes, a 42 in Shimano summer shoes, would have gone for 43 in a Shimano winter boot, 42 in Northwave is a good fit for me.
Great winter boots. Very comfortable, and keep your feet warm and dry- even up Llandegla at the moment. Recommended
I've used these to date twice, the first time they were nice to wear but only issue was slight slipping on ankle so tightened them delicately, this improved them but maybe I just got used to it. Second time out weather wetter & colder & didn't notice shoes on at all regarding the slipping, but did notice how warm my feet were.
Well its 3 days since that ride & I went to brush the dry dirt off them & noticed insides soaked! I also wore seal skins so obviously didn't notice the wet! I suppose I will just have to keep an eye on this or they could compost?
I would finally like to mention that these are the most comfortable cycling footwear on hard ground when not on the bike I have ever had.
Excelente produto. Recomendo vivamente.
Previously I have always used Sidis. The Sidi Boots I was using had no raised sole. So were difficult to walk in, especially along the corridors in my workplace. I replaced the Sidis with these Northwave MTB Celsius Artic GTX Boots. They are an absolute solid product. They are warm, keep the feet dry, easy to walk in, rigid on the bike. They are great. The only drawback that I have found is in the way they are laced, as the laces are secured by a sliding cam. This I found unsatisfactory, and have replaced this with traditional laces. So now a great product, well built, and really suited to the wet weather of late. I have been using these without overshoes, as they are really good at risisting water and cold. I would recommed these to anyone. 10 out of 10.
Comfy, I suffer with frozen feet all winter, initial impression is that I'm not certain they are better than boots and overshoes in terms of warmth, but they are comfy and easy to walk / run in.
I can't fault these boots, I bought these on recommendation of a friend who used them through last winter. They're toastie he said.
The inside is feece lined and I'm sure they'll be keeping me warm when the cold weather hits.
I have worn them for 5 rides so far, the temperature hasn't dropped yet but I can guarantee you that they're water proof!
I spent last winter with a pair of summer shoes with overshoes, and they feel significantly warmer and much easier to put on.
Great price from Merlins, couldn't beat it from any of the other quality Uk retailers.
Really warm boots ,feet kept dry
Nice boot, but the Shimano alternative fits better around the heel and has a tighter ankle seal to keep out the muck.
Buy one size up from normal to get the right size.
I purchased these to give me one less excuse not to get out cycling in the wet or cold.
With regards to sizing, I am UK size 9, but normally wear size 45 Shimano shoes. I ordered size 45 in these and the fit is perfect with a thicker pair of winter socks.
They are a quality product as I would expect at this price point, well made and so far have proved both warm and waterproof.
The lacing system is simple to use and affords excellent comfort and adjustability.
Great price and excellent service as always from Merlin Cycles.
Really comfortable, and have kept my feet perfectly dry!
The one thing I would say is my feet were almost TOO warm. I've only ridden them locally (Cannock / Sherwood etc) but they may be a little overkill for this time of the year!!
