Sizing Information for Shimano Shoes
Excellent grip in conjunction with my Chromag Scarab pedals.
Now that I've worn them a few times, they're really comfortable too. Bit stiff at first but perfect now.
Took some advice regarding Shimano shoes and went up a size, as they come up a bit small. Glad that I did as these are spot on.
These are my first pair of dedicated cycling shoes and I find them really comfortable and they have a great grip to my pedals.
After much investigating and research I decided to go with these shoes. They have not let me down very comfy and more important super grippy on the pedals.
Very comfortable, extremely grippy shoes feels like you're clipped in very confidence inspiring! Sole is stiff so makes pedalling feel very effortless but still good to walk in! Highly recommend these shoes and the service from Merlin was excellent. Very happy customer. Thanks!!!
I was after a pair of flat shoes which were reasonably weatherproof and the Shimano AM41 shoes fit the bill. Whilst not waterproof, they will withstand mud and splashing and the rubberised uppers mean they wipe down after use (why isn't there a waterproof flat shoe?). The Vibram sole is very comfortable both on and off the bike and the grip is more than sufficient for climbing, descending and keeping your shins intact.
Great, comfortable shoes, and despite concerns nice and stiff too. this is my first venture into flats. Good price
Great shoes, I had the old model (AM45) which I used to death and loved, but these are way better, lighter, better fit, dry quicker. Just a shame about the looks! I liked the white AM45's!
Great service as ever from Merlin, ordered in the afternoon, arrived the next mornng.
Despite what others are saying, I found this shoe to fit quite large compared to other brands I wear. I usually take a size 47 so I ordered a size up as many are recommending. To my surprise the 48 was huge, 47 was too big, so I ended up with a 46 when all said and done and they fit beautifully. The last thing i want in a cycling shoe is a sloppy fit and these fit like gloves, are very well priced and stick to my Straitline AM pedals great! Also the stiffer sole is a feature I appreciate over the 5 Tens. I am giving them 4 stars because of the difficulty in sizing.
These shoes are ace. I have been after a pair for ages. Great grip on my DMR pedals and my feet are kept pretty dry compared to me old shoes. Merlin was the best price available on the net. Great shoe, great price.
So far so good, these shoes came highly recommended (to include selecting the next size up from one's regular) and are indeed a good fit and very comfortable. Seemingly waterproof, though not yet tested in extreme conditions, they provide some warmth and are just the job. At an excellent price from Merlin Cycles in comparison with anywhere else, I am extremely happy with my purchase.
Really comfortable shoe straight out of the box and loads of grip. Pretty splash prrof too. Only get wet in persistent rain.
These are great shoes for use with flat pedals. Very grippy and solid. The velco lace cover is absolute genius. These are great shoes for XC MTBing and Merlin have the best price.
Bought these to accompany Shimano Saint MTB pedals after failing to get on with clipping in. They grip the pedals really well and are very comfortable. I would echo other comments that they seem to come up on the small side
Worn them a few times now and have to say brilliant feet don't get as wet as normal and defo grip well enough for me would recommend to anyone with flat pedals
Previously had the very similar AM40 which I was happy with. The outer surface of the 'leather' failed where they flex a lot after about 200 rides, but the soles were still good. The AM41 keeps water out a bit better because there are no perforations on the toe and I prefer black to the previous white. They grip the pedals well (DMR V8s and Gusset) and are reasonably stiff soled when standing on the pedals. I take a 10.5 to 11 UK in normal shoes and find a Shimano 47 is the right size in these and Shimano's road shoes.
These are great shoes, stick to the pedals like glue and keep the water out from puddles.
I am a size 9 uk and went 45 eu and they fit perfectly!
Excellent shoes - well made and comfy. Grippy too :-)
First set of flat shoes and so far they have been brilliant. Grip is good and the shoes don't seem to bad when off he bike pushing. I looked around and couldnt find cheaper than Merlin and their service is always brilliant.
These shoes are fantastic , I had heard that the sizing was on the small side but I can say Shimano have got it bob on . Iam very impressed with these shoes and iam glad that I chose them , super grippy and comfortable what more could you want.
Really pleased with these shoes. Glad I ordered a size up from my usual size. Delivery was fast and at best price on the internet
Well thought out design for UK weather. Grip is better than a skate trainer when off ther bike, better pricing than similar bike specific trainers like fiveten or Vans (but only as I have clown feet and can't get much in the sales).
Size wise they are on the small size with a Euro 48 being just a touch bigger than a 12.5 UK in my opinion. (I have half a size difference in my feet and normally have a UK13 and can just get away with a 48).
Quality wise they could be a touch better, my friend had the last model of these and have lasted well and I hope these are the same.
Good fit and the flap keeps out a lot of the British weather the sole are pretty grippy though I am still to really give them an extreme test
