Shimano XT M8000 Shadow+ Rear Derailleur - 11 Speed
The XT Shadow+ 11 speed rear derailleur delivers reliable and precise shifting with a stiff and lightweight open design. Shadow+ features a super low profile design that reduces the risk of damage from trail side hazards.

The shadow plus chain stabilizer tension can easily be adjusted externally via a hex key and uses a chain stabilising switch that when on will reduce chain bounce in rough terrain maintaining more stable drive and shifting. This can be switched off to remove the wheel. Shadow design slant angle has been optimized for use with 40-42T sprockets.

Direct cable routing prevents snagging from any trail side hazards and the high rigidity wide outer link, braces the pulley body to increase pivot joint rigidity resulting in a crisp gear shift.

Four fluorine-coated link pin bushings make this one of the slickest shifting derailleurs on the trails and the strong return spring provides a positive gear shift.

Features:
  • Plenty of room near the rear frame dropout results in easier wheel removal.
  • Reliable and precise shifting with a stiff and lightweight open design.
  • Super low profile design that reduces the risk of damage from trail side hazards.
  • Chain stabilizer tension can easily be adjusted externally via a hex key.
  • Chain stabilising switch reduces chain bounce over rough terrain.
  • Strong return spring provides a positive shift.
ThomasQuality product at a great price. Sits well in frame to avoid most rock strikes. Smooth changes under all conditions.
MartyGreat derailleur, my second bike fitted with M8000, Rugged and reliable. 1x setup so ordered the Medium cage with an 11-42 cassette and 36 tooth chainring works a treat. Great service from Merlin, Delivered to Australia in around a week.
JimYou cannot beat XT for value and performance !
FloydTypical shimano high quality shifting and ease of installation.
OldnslowI've used XT for many years now and it's still the best for my purposes. Mostly touring with a bit of gravel road and single-track and after almost ten years I've nearly worn the old one out. Top value from Merlin too.
pete southernBought as part of an 11 speed upgrade, once fitted, easy to set up and great shifting.
JohnThe Derailleur works great on my Sunrace 11 speed cassette, gear ratios, 11t-50t.
Mr MuirGreat product, fantastic price, it is a little bit noisy as it is so new, but the redesigned clutch eliminates any chain slap during downhill, rutted, rooty sections of trail. The gear changes are more pronounced but overall superb. Merlin pricing and delivery is top notch .
TarviVery happy with the purchase. Bike came with a long cage version, so after 3 years of riding it was smashed enough to change it over. This time decided to go for medium cage, stoked about this change. I run 1x11 with the biggest cassette ring 42T. For some reason it came without original Shimano packaging, though this was not a problem for me as it went directly on my bike.
Kirill RusinovIt's just a perfect derailleur! I've already got the same one on another bike and I can say it is one of those things that you set up once and no longer think about them! The GS option is compatible with 1x11 systems (I have 34T front and 11...46T rear). Furthermore, this product has the lowest price on the market including the cost of shipping to Russia! I would recommend the goods and the shop.
RobHard to fault, simple to adjust works well with SunRace MX8 Cassette
Miss curtisAlways good works great with SunRace MX8 11 speed cassette
AnthA real workhouse at a great price. Solid and dependable.
Mr CarmonaYes, its not exactly as good and smooth as XTR but the XT range gives you 90% of the same quality for a lot less. I also had problems with XTR mechs previously since they are not as robust! No brainer
ChrisExcellent quality, easy to setup, smoth and precise shifting and all at the right price. The days of Srams superiority are long gone.
Mr savageCrisp shifting, lightweight, out performs the competition by a huge margin! And cheap here at Merlin!
Mr WidhalmI recently switched to a 1x setup and this works great with my 10spd XT shifters. I am using this with a Wolf Tooth 42t range extender with no issues.
neilYou can't go wrong with this mech, XT just gets better and better, all adjustments are done with Allen keys. Looks great, works great. I always use XT. The only issue is when back pedalling on the two biggest cogs the chain drops down the block, but it probably doesn't happen with double chain rings.
R2I bought this as a spare for a new bike with an M8000 1x11 drivetrain. I'd always used a triple chain ring set up in the past so was a bit unsure of switching to 1 x 11. However, quite a few test rides using both SRAM and Shimano drive trains convinced me it was the way to go and, 3 months on, I'm certainly a full convert. The M8000 setup is excellent with really positive gear changes.
DavidOJust as good as XTR a few gms heavier but less than 1/2 the price! This is the most exposed part of your drivechain so get 2 for the price of one XTR
John MulderThe new Shimano XT M8000 1x11 is excellent. I have been a SRAM 1x11 devotee since it came out (have both XX1 and XO1), but have now moved back to Shimano XT. Shifting is very precise - each shift occurs fast and clear. On one bike I have combined XT rear derailleur with a SRAM 10-44 cassette (as that cassette was already on the wheel) and it works just fine. Other reasons for my conversion: Price - XT much better value Installation - installing and tuning the new XT rear derailleur is a breeze. Especially the tuning: find XX1 and XO1 derailleurs really finicky to tune, but the XT high and low adjustment screws are easy to access and very intuitive to use. Only area where SRAM is really better is their clutch mechanism and wheel removal. I don't take the rear wheel off that often, so not really an issue
