VERY heavy and packs bulky, but well made - this is NOT a jacket to keep in your bag "just in case"-more like for when you are heading out into rain and know you will return from commute in the rain. Fit is rather full-commuting not racing, I would say. Visually, In real life, it is more "green" and much less visually bright than in Merlin pic. I can't fit my very wide knuckled hands into the pockets-just fingers. I just opened it-so no rain/condensation performance info. yet-will update.
Fantastic jacket, great colour and fit. It was a bit fiddly trying to get the light to work but once I got it working I was surprised at how bright it is. Would recommend this jacket.
The Nightvision jacket is ideal for those dark nights. Fits well, looks good and quick delivery from Merlin.
After reading the reviews here I decided to buy this Jacket in Green and this IS a really nice Jacket. A generous fit which is what I was looking for and plenty of pockets as well . Very bright and the reflective stripes are excellent, the LED light is a nice touch as well. Day or Night you will be seen. I've ridden in Wind and Rain on my daily commute with no issues at all. Its perfect for such a lightweight Jacket. All in all great value and quality!
I am a 53 inch chest and the xxxl fits me great, keeps the wind out and is warm on these cold mornings, it's also very bright in the dark when a light beam hits it, worth the money and was the cheapest I could find here at Merlin cycles, very quick dispatch, thanks.
Fantastically bright yellow jacket, and great value. Only downside - you have to press the light really hard, and for a really long time, to get it to turn on.
This is a really good, quality cycling jacket. It is a generous fit. I'd usually buy XXL, but given previous reviews I went for an XL, which was the right choice. The windproof nature of the jacket makes it surprisingly warm (In a good way) and the material doesn't flap in the wind like some of my lighter jackets, which I also like. The reflective strips are impressive, and the integral light is better than I expected (it took a moment or two to work out how to access it in order to remove the plastic protection strip from the battery - via the side zip behind the pockets). Very happy with the purchase, and the jacket gets a thumbs up from me.
An excellent jacket at a great price, the built in functionality of the vents is superior to my other cycling jacket and the reflective details light up like Jeff Bridges in TRON!! A good fit with long sleeves for tall blokes
Excellent jacket. Loose so can wear over work clothes. LED improvement on the last version
Great jacket, bought as a present for my husband who is very tall and slim (so it is hard to find the right clothing for him). I got him XL size (the size he normally wears) and it is a bit loose but he likes it that way. He did not get a chance to test it in heavy rain but overall we are happy with the purchase (and a super fast delivery!)
I live in Melbourne Australia and have been wearing this jacket during my commute to work. It does what it claims to in that it is waterproof and breathes reasonably well and is warm. The sizing is good however the arms are short by 3-4cms which is not ideal. The other annoying aspect of this jacket is that within a week of purchase the reflective decals started peeling off one arm. I carry a backpack and it seems the decals can't cope with the action of putting it on over my arm.
Have this jacket 2 weeks now and have used it on my commute to work. Rain and wind are a given here and this jacket has kept me dry and warm while making be visible to the traffic on poor roads. Last week it was warmish here and I used the vents which resulted in no sweating. Fit is good, maybe a bit on the larger size, lots of pockets and excellent reflective visibility. I have recommend this jacket to my friends & family.
Good Jacket had an earlier version which I used everyday to commute to work until I wore it out, so when I was looking for another commute jacket I went for the Altura Nightvision
Great jacket, very light, very bright, and quite warm for it's weight. Size was slightly larger than expected, but will work well over base layers.
A good jacket. Worn it in the rain and kept me dry. Shows up well at night. Roomy fit.
Very visible. Fluorescent coat material with tons of reflective strips. Other people behind me have said the position of the reflective strips make me look more person like from a distance and not like a traffic sign or something, which may help cars avoid me? The light on the back is a bit flimsy and keeps falling out (maybe a useful feature when replacing the battery) when I roll up the coat and cram it into panniers, but as I have rear bike lights this isn't an issue, and not why I bought the coat. Waterproofing seems good, keeping me dry with near all day wear during a recent very wet wales bike tour. Venting/breathability is ok, but with some sun and pushing yourself it gets a bit too hot and sweaty. Probably would be too warm for wearing during a hot summer day rain shower, but evenings and later in the year it is good. The coat fabric feels quite strong and somewhat thick, which with the mesh, adds to the warmth, but should mean it survives quite a lot of abuse. Been using for ~1.5 months so far and no issues.
Saw lots of reviews on this jacket, mostly good and decided to buy it. I'm not one for the tighter fitting cycling gear so I wanted a jacket that was roomier than my other one. This doesn't disappoint. I'm a larger cyclist and hate to feel restricted. I bought this in a XXL thinking it would be just big enough... it's a very generous sized jacket. Could probably have gone with the XL but it's no biggie. It's a super comfortable jacket. Quite soft too. I took it out for a 12 mile cycle in fair weather and I didn't overheat or find myself soaked with sweat. It's very breathable due to the big vents under the arms. It's lively in the green colour too. I've worn it out a couple of times casually and it looks great. Not tried it in a downpour, just showers but so far it's held up fine. The little light on the back can be a pain as it switches on at the slightest touch it seems. If you sit down it'll come on and you're none the wiser till someone points it out to you. This is my only gripe though. All in all this is a great looking, very visable and most importantly and very comfortable jacket. 10/10 from me.
Great jacket bright and warm. I am 6ft 1 and 80kgs and the large fits perfectly
My last 3 rides have been in the rain, using a wind proof jacket, not nice! Bought this waterproof coat and what a difference, dry at last, good quality and looks to be durable roll on Winter, pleased with purchase.
Lightweight and bright. The medium was a little larger than expected, but the color and reflective bits are perfect for dusk and dawn rides.
This is my 3rd night vision jacket, taking advantage of Merlin's good price. As a commuting cyclist it's bright and waterproof (surprisingly so in my recent experience of torrential downpours), and warm in the winter. Plenty of pockets for phones/wallets/keys. My only gripe is the light in the back, which tends to switch itself on when you sit down on the train, so I leave it out.
Absolutely delighted with my new Altura jacket - was looking for something that would cope with all weathers and checked various reviews and this jacket stood out in terms of value/quality. Sizing is generous as others have stated but wanted to be able to wear something warm underneath if needed. Service from Marlin was excellent and price was really attractive. Will buy again here in the future
A good piece of kit, that does light up in the dark. Not a close fitting race type garment, but ideal for commuting, or just riding your bike.
Purchased as a present for my husband who is a great fan of Altura products, he was delighted. The length and fit is really good and very pleased to say a nice long back to save getting wet at the back. Great range of pockets in the coat
Excellent jacket for commuting and being seen on the roads. Decent sized pockets big enough to take a large smartphone. I found it came a bit large. I'm a 44" chest so ordered XL but returned for size L which was much better. So far only used in June but this will be an all year round jacket for me with a fleece or jumper underneath in winter. Only downside is the rear light didn't work on either jacket. No big deal and still five stars.
Replacement for same jacket, several years old, worn out. This is a great product at a fantastic price, Will purchase again, hopefully at a similar price, in a few years time.
Nice and warm. Great to getting to and from work. Might be just a little big to use on a bunch ride as it will not roll up all that small but will still fit in a pocket. Great winter coat.
As advertised - waterproof, loads of pockets: perfect for commuting. Glad I went for large instead of medium - good fit.
I couldn't be happier with this jacket! The size M is a perfect fit for my frame (171cm & 78kg), and the sleeves sit just below the wrist while riding on the hoods. I have worn it (with a backpack) in torrential rain and it has kept me 100% dry. Sometimes I find that there can be a little dampness on the inside from sweat but nothing out of the norm. Plus the side vents works really well to reduce this almost completely when fully opened.
This is my second purchase of the NightvisionEvo. Size runs large for cycle wear, so go for your normal size. Great jacket.
Great jacket. Comfort fit. Have not tried in rain yet
Great jacket , 2xl fitted 94kg 6ft. 3xl was too big. Hi viz yellow ideal for commuting .
I am very pleased with this jacket. I am a 40" chest with 34" arms. I went for the large size (Correct Arm length). It fits well with room for extra winter layers underneath. Having read all the issues with the light in the tail flap, nor working, neither did mine.... it didn't have a tab to remove. I fitted a new battery, still didn't work....I then re-fitted the original battery, and while fiddling around, found that it needs a lengthy press on the light to turn it on or off. It works well. In summary Great jacket poor instructions
Very comfortable and has reflective stripes, which is great for ride the night.
Very good quality jacket that is actually waterproof (as opposed to "water resistant"). Its close to the body fit and wind-proofing also keeps me warm. Note however that the hood comes as an option. Because the iLume LED light does not work on my jacket (maybe it is just the battery that needs replacing already), I have to take a star off.
Nice jacket, a bit warm but keeps me nice and dry
