A double whammy of Goods for y’all this week. Last week’s edition fell by the way side due to Merlin Wear’s arrival so here we are to makes amends. An epic collection of shiny new things for you!
Race Face Narrow/Wide Single Chainring
Are you one of the brave new world riders of enduro who run a single chainring up front? This will be of interest to you then. Race Face have one of the best performing thick-thin chainrings currently on the market. We’ve got some new colours in. In 30T to 38T flavours.
Hope Single Spider Crankset
And to go with any 104BCD single chainring we also now have in stock the Hope Single Spider cranksets. These beauties are sure to be in demand among UK shredders. C-c-c-c-crisp!
Santini Giro d’Italia Stage 11 Jersey
Another special edition Giro jersey from Santini. We must say, we’re really digging pretty much all of these special edition jerseys. Collect the set! Okay, maybe not (unless you’re a millionaire or something) but we reckon these garments are going to see a lot of wear even after the 2015 Giro is a distant memory.
Sportful Tinkoff-Saxo Team Cycling Cap
Dinky little yellow hats made by Sportful. Does anyone know what this symbol on the Tinkoff stuff is all about by the way?
Sportful Tinkoff-Saxo Danish National Champion Jersey
Finally, a garment that Tinkoff-Saxo fans can wear even if they don’t like THAT yellow. Due to popular demand Sportful have brought out this jersey made famous by the becoming-iconic Michael Valgren.
Sportful 2nd Skin X-Lite Short Sleeve Base Layer
This is quite an eye-catching garment isn’t it? Although it looks like a rash vest for a toddler it is in fact a really effective ‘fish net’ base layer for a grown adult. Okay, so it will make you look like someone out of Right Said Fred until you cover it up with a jersey over the top but once you have covered it up, you’ll be the one laughing.
One Industries Atom Icon Jersey
Superstar enduro dreamboat or 5-a-side after-work goalkeeper? You decide! Only joking. We actually think that One Industries make the best fitting and best performing lightweight long sleeve riding jerseys for trail riding. They use their motocross background but tone it down and reign it in just enough.
One Industries Atom Lite Jersey
Having just said about their motocross leanings, here’s a jersey from One Industries that seems to take inspiration from a combination of Japan and old Soviet propaganda iconography. Nice! You have to be bold to wear mismatched sleeves but we think you’ll look simply amazing in this darling.
One Industries Atom Gloves
Something of a more sedate aesthetic from One Industries. That said, this Atom glove is available in navy/cyan and red/black colourways too. A well-priced no-nonsense MTB glove. We like.
Shimano TR32 SPD-SL Shoes
Triathlon time is here again. Time to dive in to some freezing cold open water and then hop on to an odd-looking bikes with various antennae sticking out of the front of it. If you’re on the lookout for some suitable shoes for such behaviour then you’d need look no more.
SKS Injex Control Mini Bike Pump
This baby can pump all the way up to 144psi – and there’s a gauge display to show your progress. It’s not the dinkiest of pumps but that won’t matter to a lot of riders. We can see this pump being popular with long distance tourers for example.
Wellgo MG1 Magnesium Platform Pedals
If you prefer you purple to be painted rather than anodised (what’s the matter with you?!) then these bargain flatties from Wellgo are worth bookmarking. Light due to their magnesium construction. Sealed bearings. Their shape is similar to the original DX pedal but slightly larger. Available in plenty of other non-purple colours too.
Kask Protone Helmet
As a relatively new OFFICIAL DEALER of Kask we’ve been somewhat taken aback by the demand for their product. The public’s appetite for expensive cutting edge lids knows no bounds. The Protone is arguably Kask’s best execution of their famously aero-but-airy ways.
Kask Rapido Helmet
If you’re made of money – or you’d be overly worried about crashing with £200 of polystyrene on yer head – then check out the Kask Rapido. £65 gets you Kask styling, Kask’s up-and-down retention system and the three-piece side/chin strap design. It doesn’t make much sense to spend more (but that won’t stop people will it?)
Veloflex Roubaix Tubular Tyre
Not new in stock but we thought we’d take a pic of this tub tyre seeing as it was the Paris-Roubaix last weekend. We’re nothing if not topical here at Merlin Cycles! Tubs are a strange and strangely alluring world. Partly retro. Partly secret club. Partly super tech. Partly trad handmade. You can see why some people bother with the cost and faff of them.
Schwalbe Magic Mary Tyres
If you’ve been searching and waiting for rufty tufty Schwalbe 27.5″ tyres then your luck is in. we now have Trail Star compound Magic Marys with Super Gravity carcasses in stock. These would make for an excellent aggro rear tyre – especially if you run a tubeless set up.
Schwalbe Rock Razor Tyre
If the Magic Mary looks a bit too knobbly for your rear tyre tastes then have a look at the Rock Razor. Same carcass. Same compound. Same tubeless-ready. But a much faster rolling tyre.
Zipp 404 Firecrest Carbon Clincher Rear Wheel
It wouldn’t be an episode of Goods In without a bling-bling carbon wheel would it? How are these 2015 versions different to previous versions? Not a lot basically! “New for 2015 wheels, our fully die cut Classic White and Beyond Black rim decals are borderless, thinner and lighter.” Some new stickers then. But if it ain’t broke… etc.
Raceone XR1 600ml Water Bottle
Specific importance was given, in the development of XR1, to the use of biocompatible materials. Basically plastic that doesn’t contain any nasties. The little cap provides useful protection for the bite-valve in filthy conditions, it can be removed for when it’s not required.
BeOne Diablo Race Road Bike
Very, very few of these left and only in 48cm and 51cm sizes. Carbon frame. Carbon fork. Shimano 105 gruppo. FSA finishing kit. Conti GP4000S tyres. A dinky road bike that’s ready to roll!
BeOne Jade Race Road Bike
Not so many of these beauties left either but we do have a good range of sizes currently. This would make for a very, very good first proper road bike for a woman. Quality aluminium frame, carbon fork, Shimano Tiagra drivetrain. It’s less (much) less than half price too. As the saying goes, everything must go!
Oakley Radar EV Prizm Limited Edition
A big drop of new Oakley glasses er… dropped this week. Oakleyspeak: “The lightweight frame of stress-resistant O Matter™ maintains a comfortable Three-Point Fit with the sure grip of Unobtainium® components while channeling air to keep you cool and with High Definition Optics®, you’ll have visual clarity and impact resistance. Match this interchangeable lens design with HDPolarized™ lenses to cut blinding glare, and take advantage of Oakley Prizm™ technology in lenses that tune color precisely for optimized vision in your chosen sport or environment.” Okay then.
Oakley Flak 2.0 XL Prizm
The XL edition of the classic Flak offers a standard size frame but with enhanced lens coverage. Right then, this Prizm malarky. Basically it’s a lens tint treatment that cuts out unwanted glare glare but retains clarity and detail. There’s a Prizm Road tint for road riding (pinky-purple) and a Prizm Trail tint for mountain biking (pinky-brown).
Oakley Radar EV Path Prizm
The same as the Limited Edition ones above but… unlimited editions. Also available in Prizm Trail (the Ltd Ed ones are road tine only).
Oakley Radar EV Pitch
A stack of Pitches. Stack my Pitch up, you could say. A bit less of freaky shaped lens than the Radar EV Paths. Although there’s no Prizm versions in stock yet, there is a polarized version if you prefer that sort of thing.
Mark Cavendish’s new signature model. Big, bold and brash. Some think a bit ugly but other folk think stylish. Enough about Mr Cavendish, what about the Jawbreakers? (Ha-ha, ho-ho!) The big circle thing on the sides is the pivot point for the lens frame opening. In other words, you can change the lenses for other ones.
Oakley Prizm lenses
This is a pic taken through a pair of Oakley Prizm Trail lenses. Just FYI.
Are you sick of hearing about our new clothing range yet? We hope not. But we thought we’d not bang on about it too much this week seeing as we spent most of last week blathering on about it. These are the two most popular selling jerseys so far: the Merlin Team jersey and the black Merlin Core jersey. We’re really pleased with how our apparel has gone down with everyone so thanks very much for that 🙂
Giro Foray Helmet
As an antidote to all the superstar megabucks helmets that we’ve had in Goods In of late, here’s something of an everyman helmet. Sub-£50. Good venting. Good retention system. Good looks. Sensible colours. A no nonsense helmet for regular riders.
POC Trabec helmet
A nice pink helmet. It’s Actinum Pink apaprently. It’s not necessarily a women’s helmet by the way. POC don’t really split their helmets by gender. So if you like pink, go for it.
Castelli Fawesome 2 Vest
From baby pink helmets to baby blue vests. Windstopper X-Light Plus fabric on front and shoulders for light weight and almost total wind and water protection. Nano Flex light fabric on back protects from wheel spray. Full length YKK Vislon Zipper with flap. Reflective trim provides 360-degree visibility. Baby blue.
