As Merlin Cycles enters its 20th year in business amongst many things planned for 2013, relocating to a new site will be certainly be the biggest.
Since starting in a spare bedroom back in 1993, the business quickly relocated to a mill in Ormskirk, followed by moves to another unit in the same mill, a move to Leyland, the move to Buckshaw Village and lastly (the boss hopes) its move just 2 doors down from A1 & A2 to unit A4.
New shop area
The new move will benefit customers greatly, as well as improved warehouse logistics, the new unit will open up a new and bigger shop and it’s on the ground floor!
Customers will not only be able to benefit from a bigger range of products to thumb through but also see our busy team of mechanics hard at work through the windows in the back of the shop. Here you will be able to see where all the magic happens as we assemble the next Sensa or Merlin bikes.
Please do not feed the mechanics or tap on the glass 🙂
Our customer service team are looking forward to their shiny new office. The warehouse team at the anticipation of chilling out in the new staff room.
Less excited are the warranty and wheel building team whose workshop/office currently resembles a low security prison cell but Dale our resident artist has promised to brighten it up with a nice mural.
Upstairs the IT and marketing teams are totally ambivalent to the move as their office looks much the same! The view is slightly different and they do gain a functioning sink.
This means instead of filling up the kettle in the disabled loo from a specially fashioned “milk bottle water redirecting device” they can enjoy some much less tawdry cups of tea.
The London Suite
The biggest change in the upstairs office is “The London Suite” (as the Customer Service Team sarcastically call it). There’s a new separate exec suite for the owner (see pic below).
Rumours of a hot tub and champagne bar have so far been unfounded but at least he no longer has to the listen to the rest of the office asking questions like “what was the floating runway thing called in Captain Scarlet?” and “have you seen this new bike, you can fit 4 kids in the front, how does that handle?”
