It makes sense that the world\u2019s biggest car manufacturers might want to have a crack at bike design \u2013 they both have wheels, right? Well some of them have done just that.<\/p>\n

1. Honda<\/h3>\n

Not a pretty bike, but one of the most race-winning DH bikes of all time. Has a cool \u2018top secret\u2019 drivetrain design hidden away in the middle of the bike, too!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

2. Volvo<\/h3>\n

Yep, it\u2019s a Cannondale really. From the days when mountain bike racing attracted some serious sponsorship money.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

3. Caterham<\/h3>\n

We\u2019re not anti-disc brakes by any means, but how nice is it to see a super-modern road bike that still has rim brakes on it?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

4. McLaren<\/h3>\n

With only 250 units produced globally and a $27,000 price tag, this is a rare (but beautiful) beast.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

5. Peugeot<\/h3>\n

The only company that\u2019s managed to use a chequered flag motif in a stylish and effective way. This yellow and chrome affair (above) is simply one of the prettiest road bikes ever.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

6. Lexus<\/h3>\n

Okay, so they\u2019re not exactly amazing. But it is nice to see some more sedate designs from a car company.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

7. Range Rover<\/h3>\n

Talking of sedate designs, this minimalist beast is a surprisingly classy looking affair. Features a crisp white modular carbon fibre \u201cmonocoque\u201d frame with not-so-subtle Range Rover branding.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

8. DeLorean<\/h3>\n

Bike To The Future<\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

A re-badged Montague bike, but it\u2019s got HUMMER slapped across the top tube. Naff-ola!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

10. Alfa Romeo<\/h3>\n

Some sort of time-trialling commuter bike?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

11. Audi<\/h3>\n

This only looks acceptable because your eyes have just experienced the two bikes above. Doesn\u2019t that wooden Renovo look remind you of an Atari console from the 1980s?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

12. Audi (again)<\/h3>\n

Some really nicely executed details but one great big horrible whole.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

13. Mercedes-Benz<\/h3>\n

We particularly like the optimism of fitting a toddler\u2019s balance bike with a kickstand.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

14. Aston Martin<\/h3>\n

So tragically near and yet (look at the fork) so, so far.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

15. BMW<\/h3>\n

A Whyte PRST-1 mixed with a Cannondale Headshok. And sold on through ASDA.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

16. BMW (again)<\/h3>\n

Folded up and ready to put into a skip.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

17. Ferrari<\/h3>\n

Who doesn\u2019t lust after a Ferrari? Hmm… we’ll get back to you on that.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

18. SAAB<\/h3>\n

We do secretly quite like this one. BMX stylings meets folding bike utility meets Slingshot bikes from the 90s.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Some desperate hipster wannabes may possibly think this is a stylish looking bike. It really isn\u2019t. Those rims. Those seat stays. That brake. That chain. Ugh. Nice pedals mind.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

21. Jeep<\/h3>\n

If in doubt, give your bike a brown and cream paintjob.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

22. Kia<\/h3>\n

The whole aerobike craze is spreading into about-town shopping bikes now. Bonus points for the red chains.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

23. Renault<\/h3>\n

What\u2019s the most ugly bit of this bike? It\u2019s actually quite hard to decide.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

24. Ford<\/h3>\n

Ford have produced dozens of similarly ropey looking bikes over the years, but apparently this one was given to staff at specific Ford events. Thanks, but you can keep it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

25. Lamborghini<\/h3>\n

This bike comes from the same brand that brought you the Lamborghini Gallardo. It just doesn\u2019t make sense, does it?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

26. Lancia<\/h3>\n

It\u2019s not exactly a Delta Integrale<\/i>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

27. Spyker (Dutch bespoke race car manufacturer)<\/h3>\n

Sometimes too much is too much.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

28. Yamaha<\/h3>\n

You\u2019ve got to love the idea of this bike (from the 1970s no less), but you can\u2019t deny it\u2019s an ugly hunk and must have been a dog to ride.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
