With the race season nearing, what should you actually be doing to make sure you’re at your best between the tape? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

100% Brisker Cold Weather Gloves<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

These 100% gloves<\/a> have been a long favourite of mine for their combination of function and comfort when the conditions are cold. I put this down to their insulated soft-shell top combined with their single layer Clarino palm. This allows for the same unrestricted grip but with extra warmth These are really helpful in making sure you’ve got all bases covered during cold practice morning. Be it winter or summer, you can never be too sure of what the weather will have in store. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I often find that there is a correlation between feeling good and riding well. Getting between the tape can be nerve-racking however, a fresh TLD jersey <\/a>could be the key to finding that needed confidence. Why wouldn’t you want to look the part when it comes to race day?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Schwalbe Shredda Radial Gravity Pro Ultra Soft Folding Rear MTB Tyre – 29″<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The hype around Schwalbe’s new radial range<\/a> has got me itching to try a pair. Their new and innovative approach to the structure of the traditional MTB tyre has resulted in several improved functions. Most noticeably their alteration of the carcass threads to more obtuse angles. As a result, reducing the tension in tyre and providing a 30% larger contact area than with the same pressure in a normal tyre. Overall, Schwalbe have summed up the radials as providing more grip, damping and safety. Being a keen Schwalbe fan, I have made sure to set an Ultra Soft<\/a> pair aside ready for the start of the race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having found a new love for flat pedals through Reverse Component’s Base Pedals<\/a>, a new set of Giro Chamber II<\/a> shoes will ensure pedal grip will be at its best prior to racing. For me, it’s really important to make sure not to have shoe soles that are too worn as they can lead to my feet slipping out of place on the bike. Ideally, a few weeks’ old soles will have had enough time to bed in ensuring pedal power is at its max during race day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Should the worst happen (punctures!) at an enduro race, Lezyne’s C02 Blaster<\/a> will have you covered. However, with little, if any pumping required. Its dual purpose as a repair kit and tyre inflator allows you to race prepared without the fear of a DNF. Its kit includes two gas canisters with a controlled dispenser; a hardened steel reamer to keep your hands safe; and high quality tyre plugs to seal holes. Paired with the Lezyne Universal strap<\/a>, it offers secure attachment to your frame, leaving little need for weighty backpacks when racing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
