The convertible Perfetto is the jacket that can do it all. With the sleeves attached it provides full protection in cold conditions, but it turns into a Gabba-style short-sleeved jersey/jacket in mild conditions when you pull off the sleeves. It’s perfect as a travel piece because you can ride in nearly all conditions with this jacket. If you’re just starting to explore the Perfetto family of products, this is your all-conditions jacket.

The Chewman reviewTL;DR : do yourself a favour. GET THIS JACKET if you have the cash&
I've been wearing this jacket for a while now in a range conditions incl. a cold, windy, rainy and muddy day where I rode 45mins to work(mainly flats and a few climbs), rode for a few hours at a muddy mountain bike track (mixture of gravel and technical terrain), then back in the saddle for the trip back home all without changing my top and loved it. In this review I`ll list three of my favourite aspects and some points to consider.
1. Gores windstopper is amazing. Bitter days and wet weather doesnt phase this jersey. Even on descents the windstopper material stops the wind cutting through and leeching away your much needed warmth in those conditions.
2. Water-repellency actually works. Drizzle and moderate rain definitely rolls off the surface. Its not a waterproof jacket though so in a downpour rain will start to soak in the longer you`re out in the elements. However, even if rain does soak through, you don`t feel cold due to the windstopper material. Its akin to wearing a wetsuit in water; while it may be cold around you, the material traps your body`s heat to keep you warm.
3. Versatility of the convertible sleeves. Where the Perfetto Long Sleeve only has zippered side vents, this jersey comes in to its own with the zippered removable sleeves. You`ll never get the sleeves confused as one sleeve has the zip handle attached to the teeth and the other goes into the zip attachment sewn on to the jersey. Especially on days where the mornings are very cold but the you know the day will end up being milder, I`ve found having this option to change so useful.
Points to consider:
SIZING: I`m 5`7", weigh around 67kg and measure 94cm in chest size. I bought a medium and I`m satisfied with that size. I`ve heard Castelli sizing to be more race-style and in-saddle fit. I think the charts are quite accurate on this one. I`m in between a small and medium and while I could have fit in to a small based on the size chart, this medium fits just right for me.
LAYERING: I`ve never worn a base layer (even on cold mornings) as I know I will warm up within a minute or so. Depending on how hot/cold your body usually runs, you may opt to. I`ve found this to be very comfortable even on 4°C cold, dark mornings where fog is all around. Anything over 15°C though and you`ll want to remove the sleeves and pull the zipper down to get more ventilation. The material is brushed fleece on the inside, which helps to wick moisture away so even if you do work up a sweat and/or rain soaks through, you don`t get that boil in the bag feeling given its not an actual waterproof jacket.
PRICE: This is an expensive (albeit quality) bit of kit. No doubt about it. Its not for everyones everyday budget, I understand. I certainly had to save up birthday money! Now that I`ve got it though and have benefited from the quality, I want to save up againplus when its on sale at Merlin, its just that much more attractive of a buy!
Mr Pieter DQuality fabric & design as usual. Breathability rather limited.
Mr WongI love this jacket. Very warm and nice.
MGreat quality. I am 190cm 67 kg. Very tall and thin. Length on the Medium is just enough for me and the sleeves are a good length. Chest and long sleeves are a little loose but inner/short sleeves are nice.
Mr McQuoidThis is perfect for those cold chilly morning ride. NZ
Mr MurphyTop quality. Slightly tight so if you're between sizes maybe try the next size up
DonalGreat all round jacket . Probably a bit heavy for summer months .
