Mr gaultNot quite King of the mountain - but close! This is a great tyre that combines a good spaced grippy dual compound tread. I ride a mixture of muddy, rocky and rooty single track and this is a light predictable and grippy option. Goes tubeless with no problems too. The only downside is it's volume, the 2.2 is quite narrow compared to certain other makes of tyres. Overall a great tyre supplied from a very good tried and tested company...merlin cycles, recommended!
Mr jeremyGood grip and roll well, very pleased with them.
Mr HewittGreat tyres, really lite weight and fold down to next to nothing. Amazing amount of grip and a really affordable price.
Mr EyreStraight from the box the tyres just 'Looked Right'. The weight seemed lower than my usual 2.35 tyres. On the bike, a Cove Stiffie with an AM build, grip in the dry was great and the cornering assured on the large edge pattern. On wet roots etc over the past few days the handling has been solid & predictable. No criticisms so far BUT do be prepared to play around with the pressures. I run with tubes and found that in the dry the tyre did wallow below 35psi. Rolling is good for a large volume tyre. Good performance combined with excellent price & Merlins service make these tyres a absolute bargain. 5/5
Mr DuncanVery very good tyre. Was not sure if it would be to chunky or wide for me for summer, but it seems to do everything I ask and more. Very strong. Would definitely buy them again.
Mr LloydGreat tyres good grip in most conditions and not to heavy. Can be a very tight fit getting them off
Phil JonesFirst ride out on this last night and I have to say I was impressed. Gave good grip on loose gravel surfaces and inspired confidence. Delivery was quick as usual from Merlin, great service thanks.
Mr TalbotGood and grippy on first run out on dry trails. Fast too.
Mr MoxonBought this tyre to replace a rapid rob which had come fitted to my new cannondale mountain bike. Having read a number of reviews about the rapid robs I decided I would feel more confident fitting mountain kings of which I have read much better reviews. The look of the tread alone installs more confidence and its performance to date on both dry and wet trails has proved to confirm this confidence. To date I have not suffered any punctures despite some rough handling. Very pleased with this product.
Mr WainwrightThese tyres hook up really well in the corners and roll along pretty well too. Great value for money
Mr SternBest price around, excellent all round tyre with low rolling resistance and good grip in the loam and mud of my local forest, yet to be tested in very wet or rocky trails
Mr EllisGreat set of tyres for the price! Light enough for me and loads of grip.
Mr MartinA meaty tyre, excellently spaced tread pattern with directional sides. Good profile for either front or rear, though I prefer for rear giving good drive. Very light for the size, comparable to my usual Kenda choice
Mr SmithGreat price, great performance. This is a proper 2.2 size unlike some others that are massive.
Mr PorteousFor the price these are excellent tires, have only used them once they really impressed, much more grip in thick mud which on my previous tires would have me off and pushing.
Mr OrsonExcellent value, good and grippy tyres. I bought these as an autumn/winter swap for some Maxxis Crossmarks and they're noticeably better in the gloopy stuff. Don't seem too bad on rolling resistance either. I bought the 2.2 version after having had Conti's in the past where they were generous width wise, this time though they seem fine, and may even consider getting a 2.4 for up front. 1st class service from Merlin for dispatch as always!
Mr BurtonI still prefer these as a general xc tyre over anything else - I do think tyres are a personal thing though.
