Mark This tire has been fantastic in all weather conditions, and the Black Chili rubber has held up great on the mostly granite trail conditions I ride on.
Glenn These are the best tyres I have used by far. Grip is top notch in most conditions, only slightly weaker in really muddy conditions. They last forever too, and I ride a lot. Only downside is the weight, but its a more than fair trade off for me.
David I have tested this tyre on technical trail with slightly damp trail condition, the grip was good on the soil but is a bit slippery on the roots. Overall was a good buy.... The delivery is fast I received my ordered item within a week in Malaysia...
Maciek Currently my favourite trail tyre - perfect balance of durability and traction. Sticks to roots and rocks pretty well. Better in dry conditions imho, but copes well with wet if needed. Very predictible cornering and lots of braking traction. I run them on both wheels and will keep using them as long as they are available.
mead A little heavy but it's a big tire. Really good traction. Great profile on wider rims.
Mr Niven Had an older protection version which has a too porous side wall, although other brands were similarly just as porous; I know tubeless ready meant not full UST and thus porous, but I really hated setup with all the previous tires. Got the most recent Trail and Mountain King protection tires from Merlin. Amazingly outstanding! NO sealant leaked from bead or sidewall, bead seated fast, and tire holds air without sealant, something it was technically designed not to do. I will never use another tire brand now since no one else compares. Thanks Merlin!!!!Remember, only the protection versions are tubeless ready with a UST "style" bead.
hoffman Not as big as 2.4 size would suggest, only a little wider than my 2.25 Nobby Nic, much better grip/feel though, I'm using it on the front
Fat Man Riding I have just fitted to front of of my Bronson, replacing a High Roller 2, first ride at Swinley this evening and the front of the bike felt more secure and less likely to washout. On downside it was more difficult to get bead seated compared to High Rollers.
ogden Excellent grip in all conditions. Puncture protection is brilliant. They seem to loose air afer a few day stood but I think this is because sidewalls are so tough. A knife would struggle to cut those sidewalls
Lee Amazing tyres. Fast rolling despite their 2.4" width. Tall for big volume. Can run them as low as 15psi without burping. Black chili compound is soft but very hard wearing. Love these.
Mr Kubilius The ultimate do it all tyre it grips so well and is predictable. Decided to splash out on the apex black chilli instead of the cheapy wire bead and OMG what a difference, a great tyre made even better. You won't be disappointed with this on the front of rear.
Mr D Bought this tyre to run up front. Confidence inspiring even with wet autumn leaves everywhere and what a difference - fantastic. Great grip on shale and working well in mud - brilliant. Running tubeless which was a doddle to seat. Excellent service from Merlin - delivered next day. Great buy.
Lybekk I've formerly used 2.4 Ardent and 2.4 Conti MK, witch are great tyres for trail riding. But these tyres gave me a new level of confidence on techincal trails, going both uphill, downhiill, and cornering. Not that great on Wet Roots and rocks, but still more grippy then the Ardent. This of cource comes with a price, rolling resistance.
