The original Mr Crud Race Guard
Lightweight rear mud guard attatches to seat post
Available in black or clear.
Updating the Race Guard was never going to be easy. It had served Crud well for 11 years, and was still the market leader. Basic market research showed that the update had to include a fast-fitting, simple fixing system. It took about 2 weeks to come up with the one-bolt solution. After 3 months of tweaking and prototyping Crud were ready to start the tooling. Last time Crud shaped a prototype, they cut up a surfboard blank, and got the basic shape of the mudguard with the help of a local boardshaper. Technology has moved on. This time, we prototyped about 25 models at every stage of development, with a Stereo lithographic RP Machine. More fun, super-accurate, and vastly more expensive. But Crud couldn`t have designed the range without it.

Haven't fitted it yet but have had one in the past and it does a fair job of keeping the spray off your rear - not perfect but others I've tried have not improved on this (my last one was a circa guard that snapped off) got this on a deal but happy with Crud products. Last one had a prob when the fixing bolt seized in the alloy thread, although I notice on this one there is an extra tab to stop it spinning in the plastic when undoing it.
A nice designed mudguard, for it's size I find it extremely light and protects your backside from most of the mud. You will not find a better quality mudguard for this amazing price.
As always, first class service from Merlin, ordered one day, delivered next, you cannot fault that.
Easy to assemble, easy to fit, cosmetically the design looks pretty good, as far as mud guards go.
What is important is that it really does prevent all the mud, muck and water that is thrown up by your rear tyre covering your back, butt and saddle, which has been a bit of god send this winter in Scotland.
Completed more than 100 miles with this bunny fitted and it does exactly as stated on the tin - 5 stars
Great mudguard all early model faults look to have been sorted would recommend
Wonderful product, rode with it last weekend kept my rear and hydration pack as dry as a bone through heavy rain and numerous puddles. The graphite coloured one complements my old E2 brushed ali frame. Delivery & price, as always, was instant and great value.
Excellent product to keep your back dry when the going gets wet.
Excellent product, now improved. Had one on my old bike for 10 years and it's still as good as when I bought it.
As good as the (excellent) Topeak Defender at keeping your backside dry, but looks so much nicer. The clamp is really good - easy to fit and adjust, and very secure.
Essential when you have no quick release on your carbon frame, this mudguard lets me use it when I need to without messing around with torque spanners.
Glad i got this fitted with the amount of rain
Helps keep my back dry great
Exactly as described, very quick delivery!
Having used a cycraguard previously I appreciate how much better this guard is. Easily adjustable, easy to fit, good materials. The clamp design is far superior and much stronger than other designs too. Cheaper via Merlin than anywhere else. Can't fault this guard.
Does exactly what it says on the tin. Not perfect at keeping the mud at bay, but to be honest, none are! This one certainly stops a good 80-90% of the big chunks though. Looks good too!
easy too fit, does what it say's
A nice easy fit mudguard, wide enough to catch the road spray, which is exactly what i am after as a commuter as i don't want to turn up to work in a mud splattered uniform.
Ensure to purchase the front one as well.
these are great mud gaurds. easy to fit and do the job what more do you want ?
