Miss Shearer Good quality ridden in the cold and light medium rain with no worries in heavy rain they do leak around the cuff and down although they do dry quickly. They are a step up from std road/overshoes. I ride 43.5 in Sidi Ergos and 43s fit fine.
Mr Hindmarsh Excellent boot, feet now stay warm and dry! Great price and speedy delivery again by Merlin
Chris Love these - subtle looks which means they go with any other kit. Wore them in 3 degrees and kept my feet very warm which was exactly what I needed them for. I don’t cycle in the wet unless I’m caught in a shower whilst out so whilst it’s not too important to me I’m pretty sure they’re water tight. In terms of sizing - I find Fizik comes up slightly small already and these are a little small again so I’m wearing a full size up (46 vs normal 45).
Mr Gray Unfortunately I had to return due to to sizing being too big. fitting advice for these are all over the place from the reviews I have read on the net and although I understand that no two feet are the same I will offer my experience to help highlight my findings. I am a UK 10.5 (EU 45) in every shoe I own from trainers to formal shoes to walking boots. Admittedly all these shoes do fit differently, but not to the point where I find it troubling or extreme sizing issues. My cycling shoes have also been the same in the Specialized, Sidi shoes and Fizik R1B I have. I presumed because I already had a pair of Fizik shoes that the fit would be similar. These R5 I ordered in EU45 also and they fit ok around ankle and heel. I tried them on with thick winter walking boot socks, but they are far too long from heel to toe to be workable with cleats fitted for me. I would estimate that they are more like a 46 -46.5 I am fairly confident that if I had opted for a size EU 44 that they would have fitted better. These weren’t in stock at the time of ordering, so I opted for a refund rather than exchange. Additionally the string pull closure system underneath the zip closure on these didn’t give me the confidence I would like for them not to loosen off while riding, although I never obviously got to test this, it was just my observation. The build quality of the upper materials and footbed was as expected, very good in keeping with my other Fizik shoes and would probably work well for easy riding. I hope this helps anyone considering these boots.
GrahamP Bought to replace some old and leaky winter boots. Having had Fizik summer shoes for over 6 years, I expect these to last well. Already used for a week of cold wet weather, these are comfortable, warm, dry, easy to clean, and I really like the fastenings and how easy they are to take on & off. Great value from Merlin, Thanks
Dan Bought these to wear instead of constantly using overshoes in the cold. They are very comfortable and certainly keep my feet warm even in temperatures below zero like this morning. Only negative would be the zip which takes some effort to do up.
Mr Campbell Excellent shoes. I used these in dry cold weather initially, but got caught in torrential rain for 2 hours and feet remained dry. The neoprene can get wet but stayed warm and had no issues with water seeping into main shoe area. I cannot reccomend these shoes enough.
Jonathan Normally a 42 but based on comments from others went for a 41. Good fit with winter socks and only problem was working out were best to but the plastic tab used to tighten the inner shoe to stop it digging in to my foot. Having worked this out the boots are comfortable and keep my feet warm and dry and so much easier to use than shoes and overshoes. And at a great price from Merlin.
Michael Fizik make the best shoes but winter shoe covers are poor. These boots are very stylish, clean up well and are easy to get on off, keeping feet dry & surprisingly warm. Recommended
Gingernet Toasty warm. Accurate sizing with other fizik shoes and room for thick thermal socks. I'm a 45 in fizik, 45.5 on sidi and 46 in shimano if that helps. Not tried in the rain yet but road splashes and puddles no problem at all. Lacing system holds foot well. Overall reasonably stiff, comfortable and warm. Would recommend. Great price from merlin
Ian I`m UK 8 and size 42 were a perfect fit with enough room for winter socks. They`re well constructed.
Mr Price Fantastic dry and warm feet. I'm a UK 10 and got a 45 and fit well with winter sock.
