Replacement for the OEM wheels on my Boardman CX after multiple spoke failures in the rear wheel drove me nuts. First impressions are of a lightweight (around 500g lighter) but aero wheelset, well tensioned as only experienced a couple of pings on the first ride. Made a noticeable difference to riding, less laboured on acceleration, and also less harsh on rougher roads. Easy enough to fit tyres (Durano Plus 28mm), wide enough rim bed such that they didn't deform the tyre. I can't comment on how they would perform with wider CX tyres though. Nice 'clicky' freehub, but not overly distracting with good pickup. Supplied with rim tape fitted, so don't bother with buying any separately (like I did!) Overall a superb upgrade at a bargain price, easily the best wheels in this price bracket.
I only have about 20km's on them so far but they arrived straight and seem to be reasonably fast. Only time will tell if they're good value but so far I'm quite happy with them. Cassette and rotor installation was effortless and they look great on my cross bike (used as both a cross and road machine depending on which wheelset I have on). My only complaint is that both the Merlin and manufacturer websites don't provide enough information (ie. 11 speed hub, 116psi max. pressure, etc.). Fortunately the specs worked out and were compatible with my setup (although my Vredestein tires would prefer a higher max. pressure).
