Very comfortable shoes, after you dial in how tight you want the laces to be you just tighten them and ride, they stay tight without getting loose mid ride. A little smaller compared to Shimano which made the fit better for me, the insoles with different arch support buttons are great too. Sole is stiff with no noticeable flex during hard efforts. Yes they add a few seconds compared to boa shoes but found them more comfortable since there is no wire.
Shoes run a litttle snug in the toebox if your feet aren`t narrow. Recommended to try before you buy to get the fit right. Really good shoes that are reflective for enchanced visibility and are fairly well ventilated despite the modest ventilation holes. Soles are stiff carbon with replaceable heelpads which allow a longer lifespan. Replaceable arch supports are included and work in tandem with the laces, allowing you to somewhat customise your fit.
Great shoe at a great price. Stiff but comfortable and surprisingly wide enough for my slightly wide feet. Usual brilliant speedy service from Merlin.
Phenomenal shoes. Super stiff sole, laces are less effort than I expected and they were comfortable straight out of the box. First ride was 370km from London to Paris which wasn't very sensible, but they were ace. highly recommended.
To be seen or not seen... This shoe does the job! Highly reflective and really stands out. The arch support system works well and the fit is good. I usually have size 46 in Nike and 46 2/3 in Adidas and the Giro 46 works well for my feet.
Nice shoes, the laces give it a vintage look. I usually use 42 (EU) but got a 43 after trying it on a store. I thought it would get too tight after long rides. Still, I could manage to properly fit the cleats. Try in person before ordering.
What is there to say except I'm impressed. After reading many reviews and taking the leap of faith.. I was still somewhat skeptical, until I wore them on a 75 miler with 7,000 ft of climbing. These shoes are the best I've ever worn and they put my shitty Sidi's to shame. Big thanks for fast the delivery Merlin!
Awesome efficiency and contact with the pedal. These are now my favorite shoe.
Excellent international service, these Giro shoes are awesome, fit is like a sneaker on the upper but the carbon sole is really stiff and provides an excellent power transfer. Pedalling is more rounded (sorry for my bad English!) due to the 6.5 mm sole. About ventilation, no hot feet or pains with 35 degrees celcius at the moment in South of France and the sizing is very similar to Sidi in my opinion. I am 43 in Sidi Wire and also 43 in Giro Empire, same length of the insole/footbed with a more adjusted fit for the Giro due to the laces with 7 holes. Lacing the shoes is very easy after 2 or 3 rides with the correct tension. The footbed with 3 arches heights is a good point too and a cheap alternative to medical insoles, it works fine for me with L arch on left shoe and M arch on the right shoe !!?? Anyway, an excellent purchase, would recommend Giro Empire and Merlin Cycles to my club mates !
Awesome shoes! So comfortable, stiff, great fit! The reflective material is gorgeous!
