We have kept the key features of the Tech Evo master cylinder and worked to improve the ergonomics and integration on the handlebars. The Tech 3 master cylinder can operate all the calipers from our range and offers a slight increase of power of about 5% over the Tech Evo.
Popular design features of Tech Evo remain the same, such as the reach and bite point control (BPC)adjustability. The piston is actuated by a cam and a roller system to eliminate any free play and initial friction. The classic split clamp design makes the master cylinder easy to install on the handlebars without having to remove anything else.
Hope Tech 3 - Some riders have previously commented on the relative bulkiness of the Tech and Tech Evo master cylinders, sometimes making it hard to fit the master cylinder around already clogged up handlebars (shifters, fork and shock lockouts, telescopic seat post controls etc).
Hope have worked hard to make the new Tech 3 master cylinder easier to integrate on the bars although it does entail losing the ambidextrous design. The Tech 3 master cylinder is now directly compatible with any Shimano I-Spec type shifter meaning no extra mount is required to attach the shifter to the master cylinder. For those using SRAM shifters we have designed a slick and minimalistic direct mount adaptor.
- This neat, slimline caliper optimises the very latest COSMOS Works FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software to reduce unnecessary weight, improve aesthetics and create a high performance partnership with the Tech Evo Lever.
- The caliper is machined from a solid billet of 2014 T6 aircraft spec aluminium alloy and an increased piston diameter,generating more usable braking force on the rotor.
- A drip free bleed nipple and wide angle orientation of the fluid inlet connector have also been added, allowing for neater hose routing and cleaner servicing.

Old SchoolI run Hopes on all my bikes. They are very well made with an outstanding fit and finish. Adjustability is very easy and can be done on the fly with one hand. Very easy to shorten brake lines, run through frame and bleed if needed.
BryanJust mounted these up on the new Niner Rip 9 RDO and was very impressed with the modulation and power they have. I have a pair of Race E4's on my other bike and plan on swapping the rear E4 with the X2 front on the Niner so I have 4 piston fronts and 2 piston rear calipers (like Magura is pushing) but I'm not in a big hurry now due to the power of the X2's on 29er wheels.
Mr wardAs always quality bit of kit from hope. Easy to set up, good stopping power for then money. Not too heavy. Brakes came set up ready to go but had to shorten the hoses which is usually the case with most brakes. Even this was easy. I did bleed them after just in case but to be honest did not need to. I say again quality bit of kit.
BGCan't give anything less than 5 stars to these. They look lovely, easy to fit, and very simple to get the lever exactly where I want it. I've got Hope brakes on 3 of my other bikes and these are better again. Merlin were the only retailer who had a pair of UK braided items in stock, and they managed to ship them very quickly, so top marks there.
Mr JonesBy far for the price, the best brakes I have found. Modulation is super-smooth. They actually remind me more of the motorcycle brakes on my Buell X1. Very controlled, and very predictable. They were simple to install. I had to cut the rear hose down (steel braided) and use the included brass fittings. Also bleeding was the easiest of any brakes I have worked on. I put these on a new bike build and was thinking brakes would be a chunk of time during the process, but nope, Hope has a new fan... Me. From this point moving forward, I will be equipping all my bikes with Tech2 series brakes.

SharkGreat brakes, been using these for years (have the older version in addition to these). Best thing is that parts are available if you ever need to rebuild/freshen the seals. Have a very high quality feel to them, both machining and modulation/use.

Del PiggAnother great MTB brake from Hope. Put this brake on the rear of my Scott Genius and as expected of Hope products, it is a thing of beauty, easy to fit and bleed and locks the rear wheel with a one finger pull. Great service and price again from Merlin cycles.
Mr bamfordNot many people have taken much time to actually review these brakes which is a shame considering their quality. I have never until now been concerned about my front wheel skidding under braking, these things are extremely well manufactured, easy to maintain and look stunning. These things are mental, only way to stop more quickly would be to drive into something. I recommend the 203 floating rotor, I cannot praise this setup enough.
Mr BattyBrilliant - plenty of power with a 183mm rotor up front more than enough to lock a wheel up with one finger... if you want to that is because the feel & modulation are fantastic. Love the bite point & reach adjustment too.
