Sam Campbell I'm delighted with the Malt G1 Tiagra. And, like other reviewers, I'm relieved I listened to customer support about frame size. I would normally have gone for a larger frame (I'm 6'3"), but the 56 fits me very well. The standard of finish and level of components are excellent, and the bike rides very well. I've seen a couple of comments about the brakes being weak but, after bedding in and adjustment, I find them to be excellent. Couldn't be happier with the bike. Oh - and I get it at a little over 11Kg when I weigh it.
Mr Wilkinson Came very well packaged and set up relatively well from the start. Good value As a gravel and spare wheels for winter road bike (2 for 1) with shortcomings in the brakes but easily upgraded to spyre.
Mr Mcrobert Love my new bike it’s comfy and can feel myself improving on it a lot average around 30 mile per day through week and further at weekends bike copes well with dodgy roads around here ....on a side note customer service were brilliant to so thanks
Steve Goldthorpe Great bike, rides well. Feels really light, but this is my first foray into non-MTB cycling. On setup it needed a re-index on the rear derailleur, and front brakes required a little tweak too, but nothing too taxing, and probably to be expected after being in transit. Build and delivery took a few weeks, but that's to be expected with the current COVID situation. All in all, very pleased with my purchase, and the service by Merlin!
Jaro Surprisingly smooth and comfortable riding in your typical forest tour scenarios. Rear derailleur needed adjustment after delivery.
Mr Miller Was delivered today and just back from 1st 10mile ride and 1st time on drop bars. Great bike and spec rides lovely and very happy with my choice. Service from Merlin is also outstanding.
Mr Fernando I rode it couple of times now and I absolutely love it! Great bike!!
Mr Bratchie Very happy with the bike. These are big in size so double check with them first. Very comfortable riding position. I would definately reccomend
Henrik As mentioned by others consider to go for a smaller size frame (the 53cm G1 pretty much has the same geometry as my 56cm Felt FR). Also, the handlebars are very oldschool tight curved, so be prepared to upgrade these, if you prefer a more modern style. What the Tektro brakes lack in terms of finesse (they are a pain to adjust) the Tiagra groupset makes up for with crisp gear shifts. Build-quality is so-so, e.g. this is the first bike I’ve owned with an abundant use of cable ties , and the paintjob is not the best, but hey - this is a £700 bike. I’ve just done a few rides, but the bike feels very comfortable both on gravel and paved roads. Overall a lot of bike for small money! And then a final note important to at least mainland Europe buyers: brake levers are reversed, so left/rear, right/front (I know, others will claim that we are the ones with reversed brake lever setup). ;-)
Chris Sweet bike. Well made and looks good too. Very capable on and off road.
Mr Gray Absolute bargain - just check the sizing before you order. These come up biiiiiig, merlin customer support can advise!
Will Perkins I usually ride road bikes but do enjoy the odd off road ride. I also wanted something to go to the park with my daughters on. This ticks every box 100% it’s fast on road, comfortably and reliable off road and the spec is great especially for the cost. I would highly recommend.
Mr AL THAGAFI Fast shipping. Excellent bike. Great geometry that really fits me. Smooth and compliant. Love it.
Mr Arnold I ride mountain bikes and bought this to avoid having to use my mtb on road rides. Where I live the road surfaces leave a lot to be desired so I though a lightweight road bike wouldn't be a great idea. I have taken the bike on a few rides so far in rotten weather. I have to say I am impressed with it. Quality of frame & paintwork appears very good, its a nice looking bike. It weighs in about 25lbs with pedals if my scales are correct. Not the lightest bike out there but I'm sure it's not meant to be. Wheels are robust & group set is excellent quality for the price. It seems super quick on the road compared to my sluggish mtb. Brakes seem OK so far also. The main thing I love about this bike is I can do all the mechanical work on it with my existing limited tool kit. No dropped post, suspension linkages, press fit bb, bleed kit etc needed, brilliant! Congratulations on a great bike & fast shipping to Ireland Merlin 😁
ANDY Been riding this everyday for the past couple weeks. It's super comfortable and the shifting is really smooth. Love it.
Bert Great looks & feel, perfect bike
John This bike has exceeded expectations! I spent a long time researching gravel bikes and the Malt G was going to be the one for me. Then this version was announced and I'm so glad I waited. An excellent frame (with thru axles front and back) and sturdy wheelset have made for an ideal introduction to the world of gravel. Colour scheme is on point and all finishing kit, though not flashy, does job perfectly. Lyra brakes aren't the strongest stoppers I've ridden on, but once set up they do the job. A word about sizing: This bike is loooong I usually ride 53/54 frames, but I was advised to go for the small 50cm and glad I did as would have felt stretched out on the larger bike. The Malt G1 is a great value gravel package, but more importantly FUN!
