I have been using the MiNewt 350 for my commute home and some evening social rides. I chose it due to it's USB charging, small lamp size and the way the light is packaged.
I use a Garmin Out Front mount and it was frustating that the GPS unit cancelled out 1/2 of a beam being projected by my other lights that were mounted on top of the bar. Also, the other lights have bulky, long cabled battery packs that are best placed in a top tube bag - and can be very untidy. the headlamps can also be heavy and with the bumps on the road slowly tilt downwards while riding.
I ditched them all because of this. The MiNewt has been perfect. the USB charger means I can charge it at work or at home without needing 2 separate special chargers. The battery pack fits neatly under my stem as pictured. The lamp unit is light yet sturdy, and the rubber bungee cord is of good tightness. I am able to undersling the headlamp under the bar clear of the GPS and get a full beam to the ground - and the lamp never tilts from where I point it.
Lumination is great for commutes. I ride2 km's through an unlit park on the way home and Low beam is sound enough ride by. High beam @ 350 lumens is great when you are carrying a bit of pace. It is true though, that for going fast in an unknown path, the 350 will be stretched.
Battery time is quoted as 4 hours for low beam and this has been true.
Ticks every box I had and the value is just astounding for such a clever package. It looks tidy on my ride.
I got this to replace my three year old 150 lumen one. It is powerful, and the battery lasts pretty well. You can get many more lumen for less money, but this is real quality.
I got this light as a replacement for my main front light to be used for both lit roads and unlit cycle tracks. One thing that I didn't realise from the picture is that it comes with quite a big battery pack which has to be fitted either on the bars or the riser (mine wasn't quite big enough so bars it was).
The light itself is excellent, with a good spread of light and intensity. The duration of the light is ok, probably lasting two commutes with a bit of switching between settings.
I don't like the rubber band to mount the light which is why I am marking it 4 out of 5. The battery pack is mounted with a velcro strap which is ok as long as you cinch it up properly and doesn't move too much.
The light is definitely waterproof (good old British weather) but I can't comment on the longevity of the light as I have only been using for a month or so. It feels robust so should hopefully last.
