Schwalbe Hans Dampf Addix Folding Tyre - 29"
The balanced tread works effortlessly and generously corrects errors - full control on rough terrain as well as on flowing single trails.
Addix SpeedGrip Compound

The universal compound. It definitely has the widest range of use. Perfect for XC, AM and Trail: for the majority of EVO tires there’s a version with ADDIX Speedgrip! It replaces the previous PaceStar compound where a significant, though not the only difference, during extensive use is more mileage and a longer life.

Addix Soft Compound

Is a compound that bridges many disciplines. It’s just as at home in the enduro and downhill world as it is in the demanding discipline of all-mountain and trail riding. It also impresses when used in combination with other ADDIX tires – more speed: Soft on the front, Speedgrip on the back. Or more damping: Ultra Soft on the front, Soft on the back.

Beautiful all rounder with great cornering qualities and durability. Work extremely well on hardpacked single track.
The best winter tyre up front, so much grip, easy tubeless setup. If you want a fast and grippy tyre when weather is up and down look no further.
Having taken a Schwalbe Racing Ralph off my Ti hardtail and changed it for the Hans Dampf I've found it to be a great winter tyre with loads of grip. My only question was how well it rolls compared to the Ralph, but it's not an issue at all. I've used it in muddy rides in the woods and mixed terrain blasts round the Langdales in the Lakes and it has performed really well. I rarely swap tyres as the Ralph's are a great all-round tyre, and have been pleased with performance of the Hans Dampf.
For the trail conditions here in southern CA this is a great choice for a front tire with great grip. It's a bit hard to push uphill as a back tire for my old legs... My favorite combo is this paired with a Nobby Nick rear tire. Highly recommend.
Fairly difficult to mount, though a bit of soap always helps. Configured for tubeless. No issues so far. Paired with Magic Mary on front - I expect this to be a good combination for the winter.
A really good tyre , seated easily tubeless & offered excellent grip on its first outing at Coed y Brenin. Would highly recommend. Good swift service from Merlin.
Love the old Schwalbe Hans Dampf's traction and if these new ones last longer like they claim, they will be perfect. As usual you can count on Merlin Cycles to get what you ordered in a timely fashion and for a great price.
Awesome rear tire. I use these on everything from my single speed to my all mountain bike. New compound has fixed the old knob ripping issues.
Fantastic tyre for the front in these summer months, will switch to a MM when winter comes. Timeless setup was effortless and it has transformed my ride. Service from Merlin was as amazing as ever.
Have now put just over 100miles on the tyre and have it mounted on the front. I ride mostly wales in UK so a mix of very rocky / single track - natural tech trails that can slice tyres, and also bike parks on kitty litter trails in rain or dry. So a right mix of trail types and conditions. Also I am 220lb and 6ft2 and push bikes hard. Totally amazing tyre. Not had any of the issues I read in reviews of older compound versions with nobs ripped off when pushed hard on rocky trails. No rips tears or issues with major wear visible. Sidewall protection brilliant and doesn't flex too much like xr4s, and not too stiff - so a perfect sweet spot. Grips brilliant - huge traction better than Ardent or XR4's I have used in past. Lean the bike over for corners and no "gaps" in transition from up right to leaning over with amazing grip from the edge knobs. It's pulled me back from the brink a few times! Rolling resistance is excellent! Better than Ardent and on a par with a Bontrager XR3 which is impressive from a much more aggressive tyre. Fitting tubeless was fine - nice and tight and no dramas. Also about the blue strip - it does wear off after about 10-15 miles of trails it's worn off the knobs and is now slightly visible where it runs between them. Bottom line = a brilliant, very grippy, good rolling, good wearing tyre, with great compliance on small rocks or roots. Ideal for a trail bike front tyre. Will 100% replace like for like when it wears out. VERY highly recommended!
