Mr Charron I replaced my umarked sidepulls (likely Shimano as the brake levers and shifters are Shimano 105) that came on my 2007 Giant TCR2. The bolts and quick release chrome had flaked and the metal was corroding. They were still functional and performed well with the Duraace pads. However, I noticed a difference immediately with the dual pivot brake design. They brake much more evenly: they don't pull the wheel to the side. It was a worthwhile upgrade.
Paul Main difference is these open wider than my old 6800 brakes, easier to slide a 28mm tire in and out.

nige I have Ultegra on another bike; in terms of performance I personally can’t feel any difference. If you just want performance and quality, buy these.
Nick I bought a Specialized Allez with the intention of buying a cheaper bike initially that I could upgrade as time went by. I'd read that an upgrade on the brake calipers was good starting point so after about 6 months on the supplied calipers, I upgraded to 105s. The improvement is amazing and well worth doing. These 105s feel like a much better built product and are way more responsive than my old ones. Just what I needed. Delivery was great from Merlin too and arrived in a couple of days.

F Chr. Those are amazing, I bought a Specialized Tarmac SL4 equipped with Tiagra brake caliper. It felt like it was dangerous when riding at high speed. I bought those and now I can say my brakes are responsive and way more efficient.
