Mr PhilanderStill one of the prettiest and stiffest crank sets out there. Explains why some Pros are still using this old version
Ms ShawcrossThis was a really good series of Shimano groupset - before everything went "all black". Dura Ace has always been the tops, and this chainset simply gives a little more flexibility that the standard 53/39 size.
Mr FairVery light, stiff and strong. Have this chainset on multiple bikes, including a BBright frame using an adapter - works excellently. Dura-ace shift performance is the metric by which all others are measured.
Mr MarshallImpressed so far having covered around 400 undulating miles. Arms are really stiff and its pretty light (mine weighed 618 grams for 170 length and compact 50/34 chain-rings). I am running the chainset with a 10 speed 7900 group-set and still getting very good shifting at the front with no hesitation under power.
Charles M.I purchased this to upgrade from my stock FSA crankset. I've used the 5800 and 6800 105 and Ultegra cranksets as well and the responsiveness of the DA 9000 is unparalleled in the current Shimano hierarchy. The wider crank arm build was a good decision and it pays off especially on sprints and climbs. And it looks stunning on a matte Black carbon frame.
Mr CarterExtra quiet with the Dura Ace chain - smooth and solid. Good reason Shimano hasn`t changed the design in years - it works :)
MarvinStiff and loght and much more power transferred.
HoeferlandI love these cranks. They look amazing and shift even better. Sure, there may be stiffer options on the market, but none work as well as the DA 9000 cranks for overall performance.
Mr KURTWhat a wonderful chainset! Really really light and durable. Polished aluminium and black finish is amazing! Perfect upgrade for my 6800 groupset.
Mrs MartinezReplaced the stock chainset that came with my bike with Dura Ace 9000. Weight saving was a whopping 200g but the main difference, which I didn't expect, was the added stiffness. When laying down the power it has made my bike much quicker. Currently smashing my PRs on Strava.
Dr DonavanThis is a solid chainset that shifts smoothly and is very light.
Mr TermiziBeautiful design, definitely different approach than carbon fiber cranks these days. Worth every penny
Mr MING FAIBeautifully engineered and finished, feels incredibly responsive but so light
DavidSolid crankset. Best shifting available.
Mr JAMILOSALightweight and smooth shifting with Di2. Recommend pairing with an upgraded bottom bracket with ceramic bearings or the like.
Mr RoweGood looking chainset, the new 52/36 combination a great idea.
Mr woottonMerlin shipped the product to the USA very fast and boxed securely. The Dura Ace itself is fantastic. It has to be used with a shimano BB or equivalent. So make sure you buy a new BB as well. The crank is light and very handsome. It functions flawlessly.
Mr KyleTypical Shimano high-end product. Amazing finish work, craftsmanship and functionality.
HershBeautifully engineered and finished, feels incredibly responsive but so light
MattAwesomely light and stiff cranks. Well worth the extra for these great looking cranks.
Mr MarshallWork of art (& engineering).
MattFantastic crankset. So stiff, light and attractive. Shifting is very smooth, and I can't feel any flex at all. Dura ace - true to form.
Mr GreenIn my opinion not as attractive as the 7900 series, but needed to switch to a compact and so thought I'd trade up. Noticeably lighter (might just be the switch from 53/39) and stiffer. A solid dura ace component.
Mr SULLIVANI just upgraded from the Dura Ace 7900 crank to the 9000, and I really like it. It's a little bit lighter than the 7900, but just as stiff. I was originally a bit turned off by the look of the crank, but have since grown to like it. The neatest part of the crank, I feel, are the oversize crank arms. They just look stiff. Merlin service is great as well.
Mr PhilyawShimano continues their dominance over the competition with over-the-top technology and elegant styling. There's nothing more to say other than this is artwork in motion. You must see this chainset in person to really appreciate what Shimano have done. 110% satisfied with this product!
BainesLooks rather chunky but is lightweight and stiff. Looks mega on my black Scott.
Mr HathawayI bought these to replace the FSA cranks that came on my Cervelo S5. WOW. There is such a difference in shifting. These cranks are stiffer, shift better and made my bike noticeably lighter. You cant go wrong.
Mr ReevesBrilliant piece of kit, looks stunning, nice and chunky but light and stiff. Great as you can put 53/39 or 52/36 rings on the same spider as the 50/34
Mr PartridgeLovely bit of kit. Have it on my Felt Z1 running with a 10 speed 7900 cassette and 9000 chain all seem perfectly compatible, changes are very smooth and I can confirm the pitch is identical to the Ultegra 6700 & Dura Ace, 7800 and 7900 kit. The chain is just a fraction narrower and I mean a fraction. It is also the best looking chainset in my view and you currently willl not beat the Merlin price.
