My first SPD pedal experience. I put on my bike, I wore my shoes and started to ride with fear of falling. I've set them to the softest. I did a two-hour drive. I've been going down twice, but at the last minute, I got my feet out. SPD can be used without shoes, no disturbance. SM-51 Shimano MTB SPD Cleats is available in the box.
Good price. Very solid pedals. A bit heavy, but should be able to take a beating.
If you're not a weight weenie, these pedals are great ! Get clipped in for the pedal up and if the going starts to get out of your comfort zone, unclip and you will still have far more grip than if using an caged XT.
Great pedals had a pair of these for 10 years with little maintenance eventually seized up. The flat cage means they an be used comfortably with or without spd's
I bought these to replace a set that were 7 years old and finally started to fall apart. I'm pleased to say the new ones seem just as good as the last set and although they are quite a weighty pedal, the build quality is great. I persoanlly go for robust kit over weight-saving, so the weight issues (within reason) are not an issue to me. This is a good, solid product that'll keep you riding for ages. The metal outer cage provides a good platform and consequently, I tend to run them on the lightest spring tension setting for the cleat. Good stuff.
Well made and easy to clip in ridiculously muddy conditions. Only used once but it was a fairly rough christening. A bit heavy but expected that
