Mr Chandler I was upgrading from Ultegra 6800, so the difference wasn't huge. But it was definitely a noticeable improvement. Crisp shifting. Smooth braking. Great feel in the improved levers. I appreciate the way the brake calipers handle wider tires (got really tired of letting air out to get my wheel on and off). Very happy with the step up for my ride.
amicibici Great groupset. This purchase was to change back to mechanical from di2 ultegra. My main issue with di2 was that I would very occasional get a problem with one of the cables or the battery while out on a ride. While this only happened a couple of times over a few years, both times were a real issue as I do quite long rides which are also in remote areas, often in the mountains. This was enough to put me off and switch back to manual. Honestly, I think the di2 is just a novelty now I'm back to mechanical. It works brilliantly, costs less and I know that even if I do get an issue out on a big ride, The odds I'm going to be able to get home okay are significantly increased. Good bye di2. If you're in doubt about di2 or mechanical.... mechanical all the way! Another plus is that when you need to replace parts, they're a fair bit cheaper too!
Patrick Superb quality groupset at a really competitve price. Merlin ensured quick delivery and all the parts were well packed. I used this to build up a cannondale caad12 and the groupset matches the frame in terms of quality and looks. If I had all the money in the world, I might be tempted to by Campag, but Shimano Ultegra probably offers the best balance of quality, performance and value. Highly recommend this kit at this price.
Mr Andrada There's no doubt about the new Shimano Ultegra R8000. Efficient, ultra-reliable, and fast. Installation and setup is a breeze. What more can you ask for... Dura ace???
Mr k The new Ultegra enables stress-free riding. The outlook is modern and cool. The shift change seems to be quicker than the previous model. Easy maintenance is another strong point. I am not a specialist of bicycle, but I could easily build the new Ultegra on my bicycle frame set.
Mark Love this groupset, it is every bit as good as my Dura ace 9000 groupset. Merlin had the best price and I had it in my hands in 4 days I live in the United States, top notch customer service,
Joel New R8000 Groupset is really good and easy to shift especially the front derailleur. Even the brakes are more better and feels lighter. I also like the finish and color of the R8000 groupset.
StevoM Looks bit industrial compared to campag but fairly easy to fit and definitely works better than ultegra 6800, front mech especially good. Switched chain to better kmc x11 el though.
Laurie Gallagher I have never been disappointed with Shimano group sets. The latest Ultegra group set has some nice little extras: Have only had it fitted for a week but - Braking power improved - Cables nicely tucked away. These are my 1st impressions, I'm sure I will find more subtle improvements as time goes on
