This is one of the most common freehub bodies that Shimano produce. As a mechanic I have swapped out and serviced hundreds of these units, mainly due to owners power washing all the oil and grease out of them. If you avoid doing this, they are a strong and reliable unit with good pawl engagement that Merlin sell at a very competitive price.
Purchased this to replace my original XT WH-M785 hub exhibiting excessive play. Easily replaced high quality hub. My bike drive train feels like new again!
This was my first attempt at replacing a Shimano Freehub body. The first lasted 21/2 years before developing any play so was quite happy to replace with the same. The only sticking point was finding a 14 mm hex wrench and ended up having to order one online but once I had the kit, the replacement process was simple and if this one lasts a few years I'll be happy. The rear wheel now turns smoothly, no gearing problems at all and very quiet too. Happy customer.
Well it replaced my broken freehub, thus saving the wheel and it was the cheapest I could find it on the web. If you need one there is no other option apart from a new wheel / hub and that would cost lots more
Installed Freehub on M775 hub after original failed. Just remember you need a 14mm hex to install it. Works well.
