Mr GünalConsidering I had been using the Continental Grand Prix 4000 S II for 4 years, it was time for me to buy a new set of tyres. As I was content with brand Continental, I bought their new product “Continental GP5000”. And I can easily say that it is as convenient and remarkable as the Continental Grand Prix 4000 S II. The handling, Accelaration and the durability is of high quality. Also the fact that I placed my 2 orders the same day after 4 years was a fun coincidence.
Mr AtkinsonBest price on the internet currently for these and the tires themselves are about as good as clinchers can possibly be. I've tried schwalbe ones and vittoria corsas and they're all roughly about as good as eachother, though you won't get as much mileage out of a vittoria.
OSCARgreat tires, had them before and going for the next set with a few years of good grip and puncture resistent.
Mr mitsurugood
Mr HardsGreat price and fast delivery. Brilliant
F. ChrétienFast delivery to Canada, nothing is missing - products are in a good condition ! Thank you !
NI_RoadieExcellent value with the included tubes and high performance from an ‘industry standard’ as far as road tyres are concerned. Fast and grippy on descents and smooth on rolling and flat terrain. I paired the tyres with a wide rimmed deep section wheelset (Hunt 50mm Carbon Aero) where they sit nice and flush with the wide rim, making for reduced rolling resistance and improved traction when cornering. I will definitely look to replace them with another set when the time comes.
Mr FernandesA good upgrade from the stock tyres that I have been using from Giant.
Mr MorrisJust what I wanted at a great price with good delivery options.
Mr BarracloughSuperb tyres for summer riding. Confidence inspiring, lightweight and reasonably long lasting.
Dr MidgleyI'd used GP3000 in the past so when I spotted the bundle, including tubes, at an attractive price, then I decided to refit my old road bike with the latest GP5000 in 23mm form. They roll and grip very nicely, feeling lively under acceleration, which is always encouraging. After some 250 miles of less-than-smooth tarmac I'm puncture free and there are minimal signs of wear/cuts etc They're doing their job nicely.
Mr StonelyAs advertised great tires and delivery was uneventful. Excellent service
Mr StoreyGreat price. A noticeable improvement in all aspects over the ultra sports they replaced. Worth the extra cost imo.
Mr ReevesThese tyres instal real confidence when cornering in the wet, really grippy compound
SarnieVery nice tires and roll fast hopefully! Hopefully they can get me through the Yorkshire winter. I would suggest being careful with these as the bead is very tight to my rim and did find it required some persuasion with some tyre levers!
Mr williamsExcellent road holding in adverse weather and good wear resistance over the course of the year.
Mr BraidVery pleased with these so far. Feel very grippy / tacky and have a good rolling resistance. Easy to get on to my rim.
AlejandroThis is my second pair of GP5000 tires! I put over 4,000 miles on my first set of tires and didn't have any issues. Merlin also has the greatest price for these by far. Highly recommended!
Mr SimpsonExcellent. Really good quality tyres.
Mr SeagoGood levels of grip and feel. Tried these both tubed and tubeless, and for this price I'm very happy. Fit well to rims without levers. Used on internal rim width of 14mm and 17mm.
JAMESSuper grippy tyres for summer riding. Good deal with inner tubes included
Mr WalkerJust love Continental tyres, always fast and reliable with great puncture resistance. he addition of two free inner tubes is a nice touch and of course the usual great service and fast delivery from Merlin Cycles.
CanberkSwitched to these wheels from Pro4 Endurance v2, definitely rolls ten times better and they are probably one of the lighest tyres in the market. Although they came directly without a box, had no issues with the quality. Amazing deal for the price.
JohnExcellent tyres, definetely feel much nicer on the road compared to the standard tyres on my bike, highly recommended
Mr LeonardSuper, did the job. 600km event and not one puncture!
Mr RogozinskiGreat tyres, true to size unlike the other I had, which is normal as you probably know, with this 28c you get 28 etc., quality is what you pay for, it's great
Mr Goodenoughgreat price and best tires for the road bike
Mr CroftBrilliant tyres. Replaced them, having used the GP4000 and these GP5000 are even better. Better rolling resistance and increased speed. What not to like.
Mr HalsteadGreat tyre , great price. Top rolling resistance. 10/10
Bikerider 97Great price for Canada. Shipped quickly overseas. With 2 inner tubes ...trouble finding tubes with the covid
Mr yongeVery happy with the tyres and inner tubes, easy to select sizes I wanted, and goods arrived promptly
Mr PierceNo flats last year on these. Hoping for more of the same.
Mr carl giddingsQuite tight on my Easton rims but once fitted they feel good on the bike
SametVery fast tire, incredible low rolling resistance and good puncture protection. Price is very impresive for this tire and inner tube. That was my first shopping from merlincycles and it is obvious wont be last.
NeilUsed gp4000 before but these are even better great grip even in wet
Ms CookeAs ever top quality, super grip and easy to put on. Excellent.
Mr HarradineVery good value for impressive tyres, mine are 28mm and noticeably faster
Mr van VeggelGreat tyres, bit tight to get on, but seal really nicely!
RicardoAmazing tires. Really comfortable and i got about 4k-4.k miles out of them in about a year. I weigh 66kg and am lucky to ride on really nice roads.
FergalReceived promptly. Fitted relatively easy on to some Campagnolo Calima rims. They were 28mm so up from 25mm usually used. Run quickly and with more comfort!
Mr MillerSuperb tyres! Grippy, robust, easy to fit, low rolling resistance, smooth ride . . . they look pretty much the same as any other tyre and are every bit as aerodynamic, so the superlatives have to end there.
Mr TassiemFast, easy to install .. Conti's never let me down!!
JamesGreat Tyres - very fast and offer great puncture protection.
RickyHaving used the 4000's for several years the change to the 5000's didn't dissapoint. Great quality and fast rolling tyre with puncture protection. Great price from merlin and free tubes too, whats not to like?
S CrawfordFirst time buying & fitting new tyres so I did lots of looking about. Decided on these & haven't been disappointed. Easy to fit & they roll really well, noticed an instant difference compared to the cheaper tyres my bike came with. Couple of free inner tubes from Merlin was also a massive bonus.
Mr AllenOutstanding value for these mega performance tyres
Mr NeethlingQuality tyres, low rolling resistance which makes them fast.
TalAmazing tyres. I've used these on another bike for a long time and got these as a replacement another bike. They are comfortable, grippy, and although not as durable as some alternatives that are specifically designed with durability in mind they offer pretty decent puncture resistance.
Andy MilnesGreat tyres, last well, great feedback from the road, low rolling resistence. way better than the 4000's they replaced.
glenngood price for excellent, reliable tyres. I am a loyal conti user!!
Mr LeslieGreat tyres, great price and some free inner tubes as well, could not ask for more. Thought 28mm were comfortable, try 32mm , even better
Mr CowardSeem good so far, can't really tell much difference between these and the 4000 version, except that they come up smaller than the marked size on my 17mm internal rims 26.6mm versus the 28mm they are supposed to be. Maybe they'll stretch. Conti really should do a 30mm size though!
Mr CantrellI find these continental tyres offer good puncture protection and don't wear out quickly with the inner tubes I find this offer good value.
Mr byrneExcellent Tyre, great grip and has improved my average speeds due to much decreased rolling resistance
PhoebeGreat product, order came quickly, lightweight tyres have made a difference to the speed of my bike
Mr BookTop quality tyre giving superb grip in all conditions and comfort
Mr WarneExcellent tyres, plenty of grip
jamesExcellent all round road tyres; light, grippy, fast and fairly puncture resistant
RegieNarrower than GP4000S2. Fast rolling, great grip, let's see about the puncture protection.
Mr HopwoodNo problem with these tyres so far - i switched from Gatroskin to the GP5000. the new tyres roll so much easily. Highly recommended
JamesGreat tyres. So good I can’t compare with others as there’s zero reason to change. Good grip, good mileage, no punctures, easy to fit and good looking.
C. SoonThese have been fantastic tires since I switched from the Vittoria Corsa Graphene - snappy & responsive when you jump. And the Merlin bundle price is the best I have seen.
Mr WatsonGood price from Merlin. Can’t comment on puncture resistance or life but one star docked for incredibly hard to fit. Tightest tyres I’ve ever fitted - don’t want a flat on a blizzard driven moor.
Mr CanpolatBought them for my winter bike in 28mm's. I've been using Panaracer Race A's for my summer bike and amazed how easy these can be mounted. Best allrounder tire for the money and a great deal from Merlin.
GQ Hells 500Brought them for my sons bike cos like the 4000s before them think they’re still the best Tyre that’s fast but robust enough for northern hill lanes riding
SeanGood price. Went on fairly easy, felt smoother than old tyres and quicker. Only done 70 miles, so will see how they hold up, but great so far.
Mr GrayBrought to replace current tyres. Rear worn-out out after 6000 miles. Came with free inner tubes. What's not to like.
Mr SegalGreat tire with good balance between weight, puncture resistance and speed. Pricy but I would recommend
VincentGreat tires, grip well and rolling resistance is amazing.
Mr Vulpe MoreiraPneu sensacional, rolagem e resistência a furo muito boas!
Ryan LaffertyThe classic for a reason! Trusty grip, confidence inspiring corning, and great rolling resistance. For all the performance, they offer pretty decent puncture resistance, and about average durability. Hard to imagine a better choice for daily training, group rides, or grand fondos. Easier on your thumbs to change than lots of performance tires too.
Mr YoungFantastic product. I went from 25mm to 28mm of the GP5000 and very comfortable to ride
AnthonyI've used these tyres several times and always been satisfied. Good road grip and wears well
Mr AmodeoThese fit my rims a little tighter than the 4000s. Im running 25c and they feel great!
RobertGP4000 was a good tire now made even better lesser changes of flats
AnonymousGP5K is an amazing tyre. Vavert inner tubes are unheard of but get the job done. No complains.
Mr Winfieldreplacing GP4000 which were excellent so expecting the same easy to fit and can be tubeless - good service
Steve DThese tyres provide a noticeable improvement in rolling resistance from the GP 4000’s they replaced & I thought they were good. Grip is good although only used in dry so far. Approx 250 miles in so too early to comment on durability - so far so good.
Andy MakarewichThe best clinchers on the market....will buy again!
Mr LauzonExcellent feeling. J'étais sur du 700x25 et je suis très impressionné par le confort et le roulement du 700x28. Super pneus. Prix imbattable.
Mr GSo far excellent tires. Roll faster than gp4k's and have great traction
Mr NorthSecond set of these tyres from Merlin and they are astoundingly good. Easy to fit, super low rolling resistance and most importantly seemingly puncture resistant. Don't think I'll ever go back to another brand.
Mr shawcrossso far so good. Bought the 32's. Seem to have a decent rolling resistance and handle well in the dry.
MalcolmExcellent tyre. Grip well on wet or dry roads. Appear to have good puncture resistance too. Quick delivery from Merlin too as well as a great deal. Definitely recommend
Mr StuartReally good tyres that are fast rolling and grippy tyres in both wet and dry condition
GarethExcellent fast tyres. More difficult to fit than GP4000s
Mr Scott-HealeTop tyre - like riding on fluffy white clouds. Worth every penny and the service from Merlin was #remarkable.
Simon PeacockI moved from more expensive tyres back to Conti's after a couple of years. The other tyres were good but the quality and longevity wasn't great. These Conti's have great performance. fit well and not annoying quality issues I experienced with the others. Stay with Conti for road tyres!
AlexGreat tyres , my 2nd pair and really satisfied with the purchase
Ady DobGreat boots for your road bike. Far lower rolling resistance than the Schwalbe Durano that they have replaced. Grippy, comfortable and super smooth. Go for the 28mm if your frame will take them, otherwise the 25mm will still do the job better than most.
Mr MONTAGHINII don’t need to give much praise about Continental GP 5000 tires, because whoever uses it already knows of its excellent rolling quality and durability and also punctures very little
Mr KearneyVery fast. Had one puncture, hopefully was a once off
Mr HardistyGreat feeling tyres, I went from Marathon Plus commuting type tyres to these so felt a massive difference. Not tried the free inner tubes yet but they looked OK.
stephenExcellent tyre, upgrade on the 4000's, would highly recommend and as always, couldn't get them cheaper than Merlin
LeeLove these tyres. Smooth ride. Good grip. Good price too 👍
Izzy 1First pair of Conti's i have owned-wow the grip compared to some of the other tyres available, OK, perhaps not as expensive but still decent tyres. Sticks to the road when cornering and inspires confidence to push a little harder. wear rate i will have to wait and see but hopefully up to 4-5000 k's. buy again? I think so...
Mr HinchliffeLovely tires - Much lighter than my old Continental ultra sports (measured 177g across both tyres even going up from 23c to 25c). They feel fast too, I don't maintain the 45kph that they are rated at, but believe the claims they offer less rolling resistance. I have set a lot of PBs on these tyres. I have even had the misfortune of using them in driving rain and there were no worries about grip. Still too early to say how they wear, but for the price they are great.
MrMattPikeThese tyres are the business. Beg borrow and steal to get a pair. The 28mm's roll so fast and they make easy work of the terrible state of the pot holed roads in the UK, where I would smash over them normally on 25's, the 28's are real luxury. So good I bought another pair for my old skool Raleigh Banana. If you want the best boots, look no further.
Bob the BuilderGreat tyres. They run really smooth
ChrisThe best, all round, road tyre (GP 4000S) just got better, in the form of the GP 5000. Fast rolling, reliable, grippy and relatively light. A new favourite.
Mr boucherOnly done 100 miles but so far found my ride a lot more comfortable on 28 mm at 85 psi. With no speed loss. Plus great service from Merlin Cycles.
Indifferent AgainSecond pair of GP5000's I've bought. And I have to say they are without doubt the best tyres I've ever ridden. Super low rolling resistance, smooth and yet responsive ride, and incredible cornering grip. And the puncture gremlin is being kept at bay, despite some rides being on roads covered in glass and debris. Highly recommend these tyres and probably won't buy anything else now.
Mr BarnesFantastic tyre! Would buy again!
Mr CharleboisGood , but not as good as GP4000
Mr WilkinsonI have been ordering from Merlin for years and they are absolutely brilliant. The tyres? Well they don’t great such great reviews for nothing, they are brilliant
PaulEasy to fit, and my average speeds have increased without trying! All in all win win
Probesy03Great upgrade. Fast rolling, grippy - just what one would expect from Continental. Excellent service from Merlin as ever.
Mr ChavezGreat set of tires. You can feel the quality of the tire simply by feeling around the tire. The price is unbeatable, thank you Merlin Cycles.
WarrenThe latest incarnation of the Conti's is as to be expected....very very good.
KimGreat product as expected, I have tried a number of different tyres and these are my go to. Also, quick delivery from Merlin Cycles - thank you!
JonathanGreat new tyres .. very smooth rolling when jumping from a 23 mm to 28mm .. need a minimum of a 21 mm rim internal width to avoid bulb shape tyre.. handing excellent and good in the wet .. no punctures yet !
Mr WalkerI think that Continental set the standard for other manufacturers to follow . An excellent tyre offering plenty of grip and durability.
Tomexpensive, but great upgrade if you're looking to go faster without breaking the bank. Good handling and hardly any punctures !
NeilHaving now done around 200k on these tyres I am really pleased with how they feel. My first venture onto 28s and wish I had done it sooner. Comfort has increased massively and hope they are as durable as people say. Great service from Merlin Cycles is also a bonus!
Mr AldridgeThese tyres feel great, smooth and fast, easy to fit and great service from Merlin Cycles. Thank you
Mr FiendleyThe difference the tyres have made to my bike is unbelievable, I'm breaking PB's on roads that I've rode a thousand times. Look no further than these if you need a good all rounder that will improve your average mph. 1st class service as always from merlin
Mr BrownA friend forwarded the link to the Merlin site as I was looking for tyres. I read the other reviews and they were outstanding so I had to find out for myself. I got the tyres on with a little elbow grease. When I went out for a ride on a regular route it was was obvious how good these tyres are. They’re more comfortable and definitely roll faster as I’m setting new PR’s on all my regular Strava routes. Highly recommend as you won’t be disappointed.
Mr van der WesthuizenAlways been a Gatorskin fan. These tyres just on another level. Great grip around corners and ride feels softer as well. I am sure they will not give me as much mileage as the Gatorskins, but the ride is worth it.
MasonExcellent tyres, these are the 2nd pair I've bought
Mark WilsonFantastic tyres. Light and tough. I replaced some ageing GP4000s with these and been very happy.
paul stewartToo early to say much about their performance over time - but they appear high quality tyres and appear to roll faster than the previous GP4000 I had fitted.
DaveI've been somewhat hesitant to take the jump and go for GP5000's since the 4000's were so dependable. I saw the price and deal on the site and couldn't say no, well worth it.
Mr BosleyAs expected they're great! Definitely more true to size than the 4000's so I may try 28mm next time.
CC75I always bought the GP4000s and rated them highly. The GP5000s roll and grip just as well, hopefully they will be just as puncture proof
MartinI got these last week and have completed two 25 mile ish rides on them and first impressions are really good, they feel like they roll really well and the comfort is much better than my old schwalbe pro one's. I went for the 28mm but to be honest they don't look much wider than my 25mm schwalbe tyres. I mounted them on hunt aero wide wheels into a supersix evo frame and there is still plenty of clearance. Really happy with these.
Mr. Shane ChinOne of my best choice for its durability and in rolling resistance. Best recommendations for competition or everyday use.
Mr jamesAbsolutely immense tyre .. pricey but will last you! The ultimate road tyre...
Mr ForsytheAs good as I expected! Tight fit on the wheel initially but roll so well.
Mr AdamsBrilliant tyres. Grippy on damp surfaces and easy rolling inn the dry
DCTHave ridden GP4000 tyres since they were released. The 5000s feel much smoother on rough tarmac, of which there is a lot on my regular rides. Very pleased with performance, a worthwhile upgrade.
Mr ReidThese are fast tyres. They replaced Vittoria Corsa G+ tyres that I had and immediately I noticed how fast and smooth they roll. The Vittoria's were a slightly more comfortable ride but having ridden these GP5000's on a couple of rides now and I don't notice anymore. I also feel more confident that I won't get a puncture with these. Just wish they had a skin wall version.
DonI've ridden the various iterations of GP5000 tires since their introduction. Except for one sidewall blowout when I hit a piece of sharp scrap metal they've been faultless. I've moved from the 23mm to the 25mm lately and the ride has been even better. The gold standard for all around clinchers. Side note - the Schwalbe Ones are also a good choice.
WaltonReplaced my tubless tires for these just had dramas. I've noticed the grip is incredible and they are very comfortable to ride on. Done about 80mile so far and couldnt be happier.
PAarcheryguyGreat tire at an even better sale price. These GP5000s are every bit as good as the GP4000s they replaced. One thing to note is they are slightly skinnier than a comparable GP4000. In 23c the GP5000 measured about 1mm narrower than the GP4000 on HED Belgium rims.
rogerNice fast rolling tyre, good price from Merlin Cycles
Mr YesirciRock solid tyres. I was reading reviews before I bought the tyres and can't agree more. It is definitely worth it.
Mr ChisumI recently had a cut sidewalk on my GP5000s in 25mm so this was an excellent opportunity to try out the same contis in 28mm. I am in love with them. Where I live we have very rough chip-seal roads and the ability to run at a lower pressure makes my ride much more comfortable. And I still get the same confidence inspiring performance that I’ve come to expect from Continental.
Mr Mc ManusGot the Continental Grand Prix 5000s to replace a set of Michelin Pro 4 Service Course. The Contis are noticeably quicker and no punctures after 500 kilometers of mixed road surfaces. So far I'm very pleased with them and the price from Merlin.
Mr ThimotI've been riding 6000+ kms the last three years on the 4000. Very grippy and extremely puncture resistant. Haven't ridden on these yet but I expect similar service
JeffreyBest tire every Ordered 3 more pairs.
Mr HassonOnly used on my race wheels. Still going strong after a year.
ElieGreat tires. Very nice rolling. Good puncture resistance.
Noel AngeloGreat tires! Bought it to replace my gatorskins. Lighter and so far better improvement. So far no punctures yet but we’ll see.
Mrs SEOperfect
Mr GloverSo far so good, i had the GP4000 before which ive been pleased with the grip and rolling restistance. I ordered the slightly wider 28mm GP5000 and so far im very happy with themgreat tyres.
Mr SILVA DE SOUZAExcelente pneu, recomendo
Mr KerbyAs expected, Top notch tyre, grippy, V fast, super comfortable
JoelThese are the best set of tires I have come across with. Nice grip on the corners and smooth fast rolling. I am very pleased with it and price is just right considering the quality of the tire.
BradGp5000 is narrower by 2 mm than the 4000ii. They definitely feel faster than the 4000ii. Seem to be ok.
Mr DoddThis was my first purchase of the Continental GP5000. With over 200 mi. ridden, I am very happy with the smooth, confident feel of the tire on the road. I would recommend these to anyone. Continental has hit the mark with the GP 5000.
Mr Claasbetter than GP4000, if that is even possible. Great tire.
Mr VaitPerfect tires, long life, super stability
Mr IglesiasShowed up as far as I'm concerned they are the best tires currently on the market. They feel like natural rubber and ride the same as natural rubber Continental got this one just right.
AleksUsed GP4000 for ages. These are even better.
Jordan KuiperVast improvement over the 4000s II. More tacky, fairly flat resistant & measure true to size on a 19mm internal rim, as opposed to the old tires that typically tended to + out. Will buy again. Shipping was fast and tracking made it easy.
jackBest top end tyres on the market for me. This is the second pair that I have bought with excellent rolling and puncture protection coupled with top end service from Merlin Cycles.
Ilya KuznetsovPerfect tyres, easy to mount, much higher speed and puncture resistance comparing to my previous maxxis dolomites. Pay attention to rim side you mounting on, they have rotation direction specified.
LouisThe best tires currently on the market in terms of price, weight, rolling resistance, and puncture protection. Great deals from merlin and great service
Mr MitchellPuncture proof, got grip in corners and as fast as any other tire out there.
JohnGreat tyres, definitely a better feel than the 4000’s and a bargain price from merlin!!
MickLight and supple with a ton of grip. Used these in a 150 mile ride around Mt. Rainier in Washington state with no issue. Mounting was a chore due to a tight bead, however, but it all worked out with some effort. I’m sold on these — in the past I use for the GP 4Season and GP 4000ii tires.
StephenVery impressive. Low rolling resistance, as documented.
Barrie_GThe usual high end quality from Continental, seemed a little noisy and hard the first couple of rides but has settled in to be a quiet grippy tyre with very little rolling resistance, i will definitely be buying again once these need replacing
GregI swapped to Continental GP 4000 II's a few years ago and was very happy with them so when these were announced while I had doubts they'd be much better I certainly wanted to try them out. Thanks to Merlin I get to do that at about half the price of buying them locally. So far they haven't disappointed but I will need more miles to tell how they wear. I also went with 28mm which is larger than I've used on a road bike before so the rides will not be directly comparable but I will say this that unless you can average over 40KM/h and you have the clearance 28's are highly recommended
DavidBought these based on reviews I’d read and although ridden only 3 times they feel great on descents , cornering and even in the rain 👍
Mr abou ghalwaThis was the most efficient purchase I’ve done ever, soft, good traction, high puncture resistance.
davidA leap up from the 4000. Have done 100 miles on them and am very pleased-they ride like a good tub with comfort and low resistance. When funds allow will buy more for my other steed
Mr KamenovGreat tires. Excellent traction and fast.
anthonyFast grippy and comfortable. In my opinion better than gp4000 and corsa speeds. Good price at Merlin too
Mr MardiniExcellent Tyre more confortable after 1500 km than Conti GP 4000IIS. Time will tell for the rest
FrankExcellent product. Improvement over GP4000. Have logged over 1500 miles and no signs of wear. Miles were logged in upstate New York in April and May when roads are pretty crappy. Just ordered a backup set to have on hand when replacement is needed. Merlin deal for 2 tires and 2 tubes cost less than 1 tire at my local bike shop!! Received order in 7 days.
Mr MardiniHighly recommended. More confortable than the excellent Conti GP 4000 IIS. Very competitive price from Merlin. As usual, excellent service fast shipping to Canada
RobertVery pleased with these tyres - they are much lighter than GP4000s, and seem to roll better too.
Mr KingOrdered 28mm tyres for my Canyon aeroad (disc version). Arrived quickly, fit really well, no clearance issues and delivery to the UAE a smooth process in just 5 days.
TimI love Conti's - they stick to the road like glue! These are their latest and Merlin prices make them affordable.
Mr TahilianiThese are best of all the tyres I've used so far...
C. EvansOutstanding tires! I switched from Bontrager tires, and I immediately noticed the difference. Very smooth, excellent traction, and after the first 500 miles on them, no visible knicks or damage to the tires. Very pleased with these!
CharlesDo Continental GP5000 really need a review??? The best!!!
Mr SmithTime will tell if these are much different than the GP4000 but initial impressions are positive with tyre providing grip and comfort in dry and wet weather.
ArnoldAwesome tyres at a reasonable price
SpencerAmazing rolling resistance and tire feel. Quite a step up from my stock tires. Thanks for the fast shipping and great prices Merlin!
Mr RoebertWhat an amazing upgrade! I was a little sceptical of other anecdotal feedback, but having ridden then myself I am well impressed by the improvements when compared to the tried and trusted GP4000S II's!
Mr WilliamsLove these new tyres, 28s only slightly wider than the old gp4000s 25s, they're very comfortable and roll great. There's so much grip too! Worth the extra, great deal from Merlin!
TimothyWhat a bargain!, noticeable difference from the 4000s
Mr CollinsInsanely good
Mr de JosselinHaving used the GP4000's over the past 10 years, I was not disappointed with the new GP's 5000. The texture of the Tyre feels different and the tread pattern has changed. The initial feel on the road using 25mm is great. Sustained 35-40k on bitumen roads including tight cornering easily matches the superseded 4000's. No punctures to date. Well worth the purchase.
AlexI have been sworn by these tyres by many in my riding group. Comfy and smooth ride, with great efficiency.
B.HarrisBrilliant tyres. So much grip and can run the pressures a little lower as these are an upgrade from having 25mm GP4000s
Mr GOOSEYOnly done a couple of rides but early days, they feel fast and light. No punctures, no slips on new rubber, they feel grippy but roll well. They fitted easily onto my dura ace c40 wheels and feel like quality rubber in your hand.I think these tyres are going to be around for a long time.
Mr TroyGreat looking tyres and I'm sure they'll ride fantastic as per usual from Conti GP. My 32s were awesome but I've switched them to my hybrid for some slight aero gains. The biggest problem I've got is trying to get them on my DT swiss rims. I had no issues with the 32s, but I've killed 3 inner tubes trying to get the 28s on, and I'm not a rank amateur at tyre changes.
SteveI have always loved Conti's GP4000's and have used them all year round for many years, so it was a no-brainer to try the GP5000 for my new race bike. Previously I have ridden tubular for racing but as I have a nice set of 50mm Campag deep section clincher rims I decided to fit these with a decent tyre for racing, went for the 25mm front and rear. They certainly feel good and I won my first 2 races using them though not all that can be put down to the tyre. Not cheap but if you want a fast high performance road bike tyre then I definitely recommend.
garyOrdered on Saturday. Received the tires on Monday. Really easy to fit seem to have good grip and roll like specialzed turbo cotton tires fast and comfortable. But about £25 per pair cheaper. I would buy them again
Sam I AmGreat tires. Even better than the GP 4000, plus they are truer to size so the 28s actually fit my frame.
T ThrallGreat tires at a great price. These tires perform well in all conditions and are very puncture resistance.
Mr W SislerBest tires I have ever ridden on .
Mr TroyFantastic all round tyres. I got the 32s and the grip, comfort and stability is fantastic. I've decided to switch the 32s to my hybrid and go for 28s on my roadie to help get a few more kph if I can. Only done 150km so far, but they still look brand new and haven't had a single sketchy moment despite some horrific weather on my rides.
Mr MooreSwitched from gp4000 to these. They feel pretty similar so far, fast rolling, grippy in the wet and no punctures as yet. So far so good. Time will tell with durability. As always, good price from Merlin!
Mr ChardDefinite improvement in grip over the 4000.
MarkGreat tires. Long tread life and highly puncture resistant
DeanGreat tyres. Light weight with low rollling resistance. These are perfect for my new carbon rims.
JamesAbsolutely awesome
Alana BouleyTires grip well, feel lighter and feel like they provide less rolling resistance. Definitely an upgrade to the 4000s. Would highly recommend these new tires for anyone who is currently riding the 4000s. These are worth the extra money for the ride they provide
TodI just installed a 25mm GP5000 up front, replacing the Panaracer Race A Evo* I've been running for most of the winter. It felt a little faster right away, as was expected, based on lab testing and the fact that it was so supple right out of the box (compared to the 4000). Performance on the road was very good as well. Turn-in was smooth and predictable, and grip in turns was especially confidence-inspiring (and these days my confidence is not easily inspired). I did feel it was a bit vague and not optimally stable at higher speeds, but less so than the 4000 (which is why I stopped running that tire up front). Still, not as stable as the better tires in this regard, such as the Corsa G+, Race A, and Power Competition. Ride quality is noticeably improved as well, at least with small bumps and high frequency chatter. Whether that is a function of the new elastomer layer or the supple casing, it's a welcome improvement over the somewhat harsh-riding 4000. Also welcome, and not, is a meaningful reduction in size from the 4000. Great to have the 5000 run closer to it's stated size (and other tires), but good luck figuring out the optimum size for your bike now. As a reference, my 25mm 5000 measures just over 27mm on my 19mm internal rims (whereas the 4000 measured nearly 29). Unsurprisingly height (and volume) are reduced as well. Let's hope that puncture-resistance and lifespan are not, and remain as excellent at they are in the 4000. Regardless of that, these are clearly going to be the "race" tires to beat this year. *Great winter tire. Excellent ride quality and grip, reasonably fast, and very puncture-resistant (both tread and sidewalls).
Mr YOSHIDACost peformance is one of the best and comparison with GP4000S II this tyre is more comfortable.
PaulContinental have really got hold of their sizes with the GP5000. 25mm means 25mm wide. 28mm means 28mm wide. Not like GP4000 SII 25mm were 28mm wide and 31mm tall on 17mm inside width clinchers
Ms nuganGreat looking, easy to put on (even with false finger nails) & fast to ride. Seemed to reduce road vibrations but that might just be because my last contis were nearly threadbare! Happy with product.
Mr HemmingA great improvement on an already brilliant tyre. Its not the fastest, lightest, grippiest or sturdiest, but it is the best all round tyre that does better than average in all categories. Absolutely worth the money.
Lord SuonOne of the smoothest tires I've rode on ever. 10/10 would recommend to a good friend
Mr ObrienHave ridden for a few weeks and they are an excellent tyre.. Highly recommend it.
AndySSo far, so good. Seem to be more robust than the 4000S.
Geoff - New ZealandPurchased the 32mm tyres. Fitted to Tarmac SL6 Disc on Roval CLX32 rims with 21mm internals, the tyres measured up at exactly 32mm!!! The old GP4000's 28mm came in at 31.5mm on the same rims. The GP5000's look great and feel fantastic so far (and the Tarmac SL6 Disc frame has heaps of room, I think it could take 36mm tyres)
JaidynAmazing! When I read that it was going to be just like the 4000s ll's but lighter, faster, more puncture resistant and grippier, I didn't believe it. But now that I have ridden them, I can't help but accept that they are. From just using these tires, my average speed raises from 1-2 km/h! Taking on the local switch backs at top speed, I feel even more confident that I won't slide out and I beat my PR by 10 seconds after a light rain, then by 45 seconds on a dry day! Highly recommend, defiantly a good investment. I will be riding these for many years to come. Very impressed.
PatrickImproved rolling resistance, lighter, still durable... these are the best all-round road tyres.
