The RD40 wheelset is Hope's game changing carbon road/cyclo cross wheelset. Combining the latest in carbon technology with Hopes versatile and enduring RS4 Disc hubs these wheels were designed for uncompromised performance for a wide range of disciplines.
Features
- Built with RS4 straight pull 6 bolt 24 hole hubs using Sapim CX-Ray black straight pull spokes
- Wheels are built from start to finish by hand in Barnoldswick
- Carbon Clincher rim, tubeless compatible
- Designed to suit disc brake sets using 6 bolt rotors
- Front wheels come supplied with QR and 12mm conversions
Richard Oldfield Ordered both front & rear separately to take advantage of Merlin Rewards points from previous purchases. Hope website states 1495g for the centre lock pair, these were 1575g for the pair. Only came with through axle adaptors.
I fitted Stans 21mm yellow tape & 55mm valves to run tubeless. Fitted Schwalbe Pro One 30mm tyres that came up at 31mm. The tyres went on without tyre levers, inflated first time with a track pump & held pressure for days without sealent.
Was happy to pay a little extra & for a little extra weight over other alternatives for Hope quality. The wheels spin forever in the workstand & the freehub has very little drag, & is very quiet unlike Hope MTB hubs.
