The Ultimate Bike Christmas Wish List! Our Top Picks…

This week at Merlin Cycles, I decided to ask some our staff which bikes they have on their Christmas wish list!

Quite a few of our staff members would love to unwrap the Wilier 0 SLR Disc Ultegra Di2 Road Bike on Christmas morning…

  • Wilier 0 SLR is the first ultra-lightweight racing bike with disc brakes and fully integrated cables. The Wilier 0 SLR encapsulates the most complex concepts of lightness and total integration in simple aesthetics.
  • Ultra light-weighted, high-speed stability and control, braking performance, high aerodynamics and full cable integration.

Next up we have the Simplon Rapcon Pmax GX1 Lupine Carbon Full Suspension E-Bike. Chosen by Rob and Mike-O!

  • The Rapcon Pmax is a lightweight and incredibly versatile trail fully that merits an entirely new definition of the term E-MTB.
  • With 500Wh Bosch PowerTube battery, you’ll be conquering summits one after another.

Merlin Rider and Staff Member Gemma would love a brand new Orro Venturi Di2 Ultegra.

  • The Orro Venturi STC is an evolution of the much loved Orro speed machine.
  • Nothing had to be revolutionised with this bike so the winning frame geometry formula has been kept, with all the resultant handling characteristics that make the Venturi so fast to ride remaining.
  • However, the updated frame head tube and cockpit componentry make it even better.

Here’s the Ibis Oso, our buyer Danny wouldn’t mind having one of these beasts to blast on the trails…

  • A whole new sport demands a whole new bike. Built from the ground up to deliver a new level of smooth, fast, and durable performance, the full carbon Oso features Ibis’s first ever upper link suspension dw-link platform.
  • It stack’s 155mm of rear travel with 170mm up front and is powered by a Bosch Performance line CX motor.

An Orro Gold STC Ultegra Carbon Road Bike, (or even maybe one for training and one ‘best bike’ for cycling tours and events) for Shaun!

  • Gold STC represents the Orro gold standard in ride quality with a competitive frameset weight and clean aesthetic.
  • The geometry of their longest running model has been revised across a myriad of generations to create a bike which seamlessly balances speed with efficiency for endurance riding.

It has to be the Ibis Ripley SLX for our Mechanics Martin and Will…

  • The Ibis Ripley is snappy, flick-able, playful, fast, lightweight, and versatile 29″ trail bike.
  • It’s combination of modern geometry, a stiff lightweight carbon chassis, and 120mm of ultra-efficient DW-Link travel, means it’s equally happy popping off bonus lines as it is crushing all day epics.

The Merlin Malt 725 Steel SLX Mountain Bike is Matt’s favourite.

  • Matt has been testing out our demo model of this stunner of a single track ripper and all-round adventure bike.
  • The geometry is best suited for a 120mm travel fork but will happily take up to a 140mm if you wish to tackle more challenging trails.
  • The hardtail design allows for efficient power transfer and better control on climbs, making it a great choice for cross-country and trail riding.

Workshop Manager Lee would opt for the stunning Colnago G3-X Rival AXS Carbon Gravel Bike.

  • Colnago G3-X carbon gravel bike has been designed for fast gravel riding.
  • A true adventure all day bike to enjoy natural landscapes and explore new paths from your door step.
  • Equipped with Sram Rival eTap AXS 1×12 wireless groupset, Fulcrum Rapid Red 900 and Pirelli Cinturato™ gravel specific tyres 700x40c to match the frame’s enormous tyre clearances.

The Orro Terra Ti Gravel Bike is at the top of Andy’s Christmas List!

  • The all-new Terra Ti is based on the Terra C and uses the same geometry well-reviewed carbon models with the elegance and timeless looks that titanium affords.
  • This full titanium frame is made with hydroformed 3.25 titanium with a 6.4 cast bottom bracket shell. Built with bike packing and multi-day riding in mind, this bike comes with mounting points for a pannier rack, mudguards and a multitude of others.

The bike on my wish list is the Ibis Hakka GRX Enve Carbon Gravel Bike

  • The Hakka MX from Ibis is their answer to the Swiss Army Knife. It’s the bike you should choose if heaven forbid, you could only have one bike. The Hakka MX is a gravel bike.
  • It’s also a cross bike and a road bike and perfect for bike packing trips!

And that rounds up our ‘Staff Christmas Bike Wish List’…
