The Felt F5 is a pro-level carbon frame allied to an impressive list of components. It’s one of those rare bikes that are light, responsive and super quick yet somehow manage to retain a high degree of comfort and understated predictability.
The F5 is an understated classy performer.
The race-ready geometry that Felt are so well renowned for is very much present. The F5 can attack climbs, deal with aggressive sprints and zip round corners with the greatest of ease.
Due to its carbon lay-up and wisely chosen componentry the defining factor of the F5 is efficiency without harshness. You can race on this bike certainly, but it’s equally at home on longer, endurance type rides. The F5 is able to execute attacks as well as relax.
Cycling Plus magazine put it well: “The slender, understated frame has race-ready geometry, and the low chassis weight makes for a bike that’s imminently chuckable. Unlike plenty of bikes designed for speed, though, the F5 isn’t a hard ride.
“In fact, we’d go so far as to say that its overall characteristic is suppleness. It’s light and lively over broken road surfaces, but stiff and stable enough to handle the stresses when you throw down the power.”
It’s not a case of “nice frame shame about the rest” either. The spec list of the F5 is very impressive.
Drivetrain duties are taken care of by the unrivalled performer that is Shimano 105. Felt have opted for a BB30 crankset from FSA for improved stiffness in that area.
Felt’s own SuperLite series of components provides several highlights in the finishing kit. The UHC Performance carbon seatpost is a first class item and their excellent Variable Shape handlebars have loads of fans too.
The wheels will last you a very long time indeed. Felt’s own R3 hubs laced to iconic Mavic CXP-22 rims. These strong hoops are worth keeping hold of even if you upgrade to an even more bling wheelset in the future. They’re a great pair of year-round on UK-roads wheels.
The Felt F5 is pro bike that can be ridden everyday and everywhere. It could be your new best friend.

First attempt, Parcel Farce managed to give me someone else's parcel containing Avery attractive pink pedal car. Two tetchy phone calls later they sorted themselves out and very apologetically brought my Felt F5. This Is my first drop-bar bike since the 70s so I've a bit to learn.I've now put it together (easy) and been for a quick 25k which it completed in comfort in 58 minutes. (Used to be 70 minutes on my old slick tyres mountain bike) much smoother, absorbs a lot of the road punishment which used to beat me up on the old steel Kona. Front indexing was a little out but 2 mins with a screwdriver sorted it. I got Merlin to fit a 12/30 cassette and I'm glad of it, but it climbs much better than the old bike even without getting all the way down to the 30 sprocket. The 58 is a bit long for me, so I'll be buying a shorter stem soon but I'm delighted with my purchase and with Merlin's service. What's not to like at 40% off the retail price?
Great looking bike, very reactive and comfortable.
Really happy with this bike. I was skeptical about the claims of how light the complete bike was but I can confirm that after putting the bike on the scales it weighs only 18.7 lbs or 8.5kg. For the 58cm frame that's really impressed me.
It came in a big box with the wheels already in place so all I had to do was adjust the brake pads and tweak the gear adjusters and I was away. Of course I had to adjust the saddle height and handlebar stem to get my position right.
I like to climb a lot and the bikes low weight makes it much faster and the response from the frame is great. Nothing lost in every pedal stroke, just forward motion :-)
On the descents it is sure footed and goes exactly where I wanted it to go. I'll buy some lighter wheels for it as it deserves the expense but the ones it comes with are respectable for now.
