Brand Focus – Panaracer

A post war success story, Panaracer began rubber production in 1952. However, as the popularity of bicycles for use as transport and leisure increased, they soon began to focus solely on bicycle tyres.

Excellence

Focussing solely on bicycle tyres allowed them to aim to produce the finest tyres on the market. Panaracer have remained based in Japan and produce more than 90% of their tyres at their factory in Osaka. Their years of experience and Japanese craftsmanship ensure that their tyres are amongst the best in the world across all disciplines

Production

Through continuing to produce tyres largely from one factory, they are able to have expert research and development engineers, production and quality control all in one place. This speeds up the development process and ensures consistent quality.

Materials

Tyre casings and compounds are produced from hand-picked raw materials. When these materials are put through Panaracer’s patented technological processes, the result is some of the world’s finest bicycle tyres.

Innovation

Panaracer also produce an innovative product which offers an alternative-take on puncture protection. The Flataway Puncture Protection role gives an extra layer of security in the battle against punctures. The woven Kevlar strip is similar to adding a bullet proof vest to your tyres! With 28 Merlin customer reviews and an average 5/5 review, the Flataway strips prove that any product which prevents punctures is popular. Available in 26″, 29″ and 700c sizes – one role is enough to protect one tyre. Although a 29″ role will, according to one customer, protect two tyres on a Brompton bike.

Road

The Race series tyres have had some awesome performance testing reviews from Road.CC. High performance lovers will rate the Race D Evo 4. They was awarded 4.5 / 5 stars and praised very highly for their light weight, speed, grip and durability with similar all-round performance to the Continental GP5000. The Race series are tube only.

Ribmo is Panaracer’s touring and commuting tyre. Ribmo (stands for RIdeBikesMOre) is a relatively lightweight, tough tyre aimed squarely riders wanting a high mileage, reliable tyre. The ‘Mile-Cruncher’ compound is very hard wearing and combines with the ‘ProTite Shield’ which is polyamide cord, twice as strong as the cord in conventional tyres. This improves rigidity and puncture protections properties.

Gravel

The Gravelking range is one of the most comprehensive gravel tyre ranges on the market. The range covers all the usual types of surfaces commonly lumped together as gravel. TLC indicates that the tyre can be run tubeless (or tubed). The EXT version is designed for wet and sloppy conditions, from wet trails to muddy tracks. The SK version (Small Knob) is ideal for tracks trails and rougher pot-holed roads. The small knob tread pattern combines with a low rolling resistance compound for great all-round performance. The newest addition to the range is the Slick+ , this tyre is designed for dry conditions and is race-ready for those who take gravel more seriously. They feature a new smooth diamond pattern centre tread with more aggressive side lugs for cornering grip.

MTB

The Fire XC Pro Tubeless tyre is ideal for your old-school 26″ wheel size MTB. Great quality XC tyres ideal to keep your old ride up-to-date, the tyres are tubeless compatible and come with alternative colour sidewall options, a great way to breathe new life into your 26er.
