Mr WhitmarshGreat value, durable pedals with tension adjustment and easy to clip in and out of. For touring and commuting, on-road or off I never use anything else.
Mr HaworthStill just as good as top end models and a quarter of the price.
stephenThese are the most popular SPD pedals available. Don't be fooled by the low price from Merlin, M520 pedals are a high quality item. At this price I bought a spare set.
CorreiaEsperava mais de um produto shimano, mas para iniciantes acho bons porque desencaixam facilmente.
GulfanA workhorse, There are lighter/more expensive options but this does the job fine.
Mr RamskillPedals are well made and can be adjusted for your own preference of clip strength. A great buy.
LAMGreat pedals for beginning mtb. Durable but very heavy.
PedalPaddlerGreat basic pedal - no frills - just works.
Mr francisFLR-F55 Mountain Shoes lock in great to the Shimano pedal. I'm still adjusting them to find the perfect position but they work great. Purchased the Shimano pedals with the shoes for an awesome price. Fast shipping to Canada.
Mr NelsonI waffled back and forth on whether to get these or the ones that weighed less. I opted for these as I've always been more of cheapa** than a weight-wienie. These pedals replaced some Shimano M520s that I'd been using for the last 4 years. The old ones had about 8000 miles on them and have served me well. I'm just refreshing the rig a bit, and the old ones were showing their age and mileage. The first ride after installing the new ones...they work great. I cant believe how quiet they are. I didn't realize how much of the noise was coming from the old pedals, I figured it was all a little bit of noise coming from different parts of the bike. Nope, all from the pedals. It sounds like a brand new bike now.
SimonGreat starter pedal. Easy to switch and set up with a nice bit of float. Feels like a solid, well made bit of kit.
Mr HillBudget pedal that works well. Slightly heavy but for less weight you pay more.
Mr bontoftPurchased to replace some single sided clips that I just couldn't get on with, got to say I'm really impressed. They look good, and for the price you really cannot go wrong. Easy to set up and much better just clipping in than having to spin the pedal to get the clip side! Delivery from merlins was super quick and would definitely use again
AndrewGreat pedals at a great price,. I already have a set on another bike and because they are so good I got these for my commuting bike. Excellent service from Merlin cycles too with very fast delivery.
Alp O.It came with reverse side platform to use pedals with normal shoes. It is not an excellent platform but it may help for very very short ridings. Pedal has lock adjustment. For beginners it is best to start with a very loose setup. Overall with its cost when it is bundled with a shoe it is one of the best for beginners.
MCKDGreat pedals, all I ever need and have a set on each bike so I can swap shoes without worrying about SPD-SL or whatever. Came with the flat pedal footrests attached so could even use them on a beginners bike until they want to go for cleats I guess.
Mr WhittinghamAn old favourite!!! Traditional Shimano quality and value still as solid and reliable as ever, easy to use adjust and maintain. Is there a better pedal for this price anywhere?
Mr KaratepeGood for beginners who wants to try SPD and easy to use.
Aurelio Girona PertusaA classic that still doing its job superbly.
Queiroz ValentimThis pedal is good for beginners. It is simple of use and reliable.
Mr Alves Pereira CardosoExcellent pedals. As effective as more expensive brand pedals . I am very satisfied with the design and easy to engage and disengage the clips .
ABNew to SPD, think they are better than SPDSL/Look. Easier to use. Pleased with Merlin good price and fast delivery
Scary PerryThese pedals are a staple. I put them on all my cross and touring bikes. Why buy Chinese knock-offs when the real thing is so reasonably priced? These work just like the awesome SPD 747 pedals I used almost 20 years ago. They were perfect back then and nothing much has changed since. The only draw back to the M520 is weight, you can pay more to have lighter pedals but the function of these pedals is nearly identical to the pricier variants. I'll worry about the grams on my bike after I lose a couple dozen kilos off my body.
Arvind PersaudExcellent pedals. Bought for my son's mountain bike and he loves them. Really handy to have the flat side clipped in option to start off with.
Matthew NewellJust brilliant pedals. Not the lightest, nor the prettiest - but at under 15 quid they are cheaper than some places sell just the cleats. They will work for 1000s of km and if you maintain them they will last forever - but at 15 quid it is tempting just to buy another set.
LAVAU80Fantastic pedal. Only real difference between this and the XT/XTR versions is the weight.
Mr BarnettGood pedals, easy to adjust and very cheap. Would recommend to those looking to start clipping in on the road and off-road.
Mr HarrisonThese are the simplest and the best value. I've tried others but keep coming back to these. In white they look a dream!
JASCheap as chips and perfect for 100 mile road slogs or 18 mile mud grinds.
Mr MasonNot the longest service life in the world but cheap and easy to use/set up
Mr MullerThese are great easy to setup pedals. I bought them for my 8 year old who is enjoying MTBing. He is easily able to clip in and out with no issues.
Mr MilsomThese pedals are great. Work just as well as the XTR and XT and are much better value. So easy to find and connect to your cleats
Chris WildingI've been using these for over a year now and they have been great - I replaced a set of xt pedals as they were a bit hard to get out of but I'd choose these any day. Bargain!
Wise old elfThese are great. First time I've used spd's in twenty years riding and thought I'd hate the feel but they are amazing. So easy to use too. Easy to fit. Perfect.
PeterPractical, hard wearing, and foolproof pedals.
Mr RICKERBYAfter many years using clipless on my road bikes it was time to change to spd on my mtb, should have done it years ago. Usual performance and quality from shimano, well pleased
DustyFinally decided to move over to the "dark side" of clipless pedals. Friends recommended these pedals and they weren't wrong, would recommend these pedals to anyone who is considering clipless pedals, I should have done it a long time ago
johnnystormI have had umpteen pairs of M520 SPD pedals. They work whatever the conditions and seem to last forever. They don't seem appreciably heavier than more expensive variants either. Highly recommended.
Mr holmShimano 520's are an absolutely fantastic pedal! The last pair I bought before these was in 2005 and despite looking rough the bearings still run free and the clasp still works perfectly. The only care routine I used was washing them after muddy rides and putting a small amount of chain oil on the springs. The only reason I have bought a new pair is vanity! I have just bought a new bling crank and I wanted new looking pedals to go with It. They are light weight, strong and amazingly reliable. And at Merlin's price an absolute bargain. Just buy them, you won't regret It.
DaveyDecent spd's for a decent price, heavy but functional. This is my third set of these (one on each bike) and after two years since buying my first set and having switching from crank bros I will never go back, these just last and last, crank bros constantly needed bearing replacement and cleaning. Spds rock!
Mr SmithThese pedals are great and hassle free. A little bit on the heavy side but a great price. I've never worn a pair out and only bought these to put on another addition to the bike collection!
MattThese are my second pair of M520 pedals. A great price for a brilliant pedal. Nice and easy to clip in and out off and also simple to adjust the tension to clip out. Lightweight and simple to service. Wouldn't hesitate to buy a third pair.
Mr CravenFantastic quality product, last pair lasted years. These SPD's are brilliant value for the level of performance they provide.
Tickle66Excellent everyday spd's, use them on the fixie round town and on MTB for off road. Functional and sturdy.
Mr MillerI use these on all my bikes. Very robust even in the harshest conditions.
Mr WHaving had a pair of very similar SPDs for a number of years, I needed some more for a new bike. Still the same great performance I have learn to expect from Shimano SPDs and I fully expect them to last the 10+ years the previous pair did
Mr StanaitisI was previously on SPD-SL (PD-R540) pedals and they were great for longer rides but needed something I could use for normal walking and cycling in London on casual day. These pedals looked like perfect fit with good reviews, comes with reflectors and clip-ins for shoes. On top, it's double sided. Clip-in is very easy and you can adjust to firm or loose clipping. Pedals moves easy without any problem. I have been using them for a week or so and can't fault them at the moment; I am really happy with them and would recommend to anyone trying clip-in pedals as first set.
Mr MatthewsExcellent value budget pedals, I use them on most of my bikes, on and offroad. Bearings last for ever.
Mr fieldingUber cheap and mega long lasting. Don't see the point in getting lighter, pricier gear if 5 minutes into a ride you're dragging a kilo of mud on your bike.
PeteThese pedals can't be faulted for VFM. My wife & I have them on nearly every bike we own - which is qute a few ;-) Easily serviced too - needs a special tool to take apart but that is only a couple of quid, so a thumbs up on that too.
Loz MilnerQuite simply, unless you are desparate to save every last gram, I can see no point in buying higher spec pedals. The M520s last and last, and when they finally die they are as cheap as chips to replace, and with the cleats included you really can't go wrong!
Mr shacklefordBought these pedals as a cheap option for my rockhopper couldn't recommend them enough work perfectly, comfortable and very good value.
Mr AspdenGreat pedal, with easy adjustment, lightweight and great value.
Mr CauthenPretty much what I expected from this pedal. I live in the states and even with international shipping, this is the cheapest you will find this particular pedal. Heavier than higher end models, but there's a reason you're paying 1/3 of the price of those extremely light pedals. You likely won't notice the weight unless you're an advanced rider. I would recommend this to anyone. Definitely buy here.
Mr CatNice set of pedals. When you pick them up they feel slightly heavier than they look but at this price you can't really say you didn't expect that. Nice pedals - second set of these I've bought.
Mr SainterGreat pedals not the lightest but what do you expect at this price and what a price. Great value. Fitted to the bike and been out for several rides and worked flawlessly.
Mr GaldinoProduto excelente qualidade, recomendo...
Mrs JonesI am very pleased with this product! I have never used clips before and was really worried about using them for the first time but they are so easy to set up and use I wish I'd done it years ago! I would definately recommend these if you're thinking of converting from platform pedals to SPD as your starter set!
Gabriel TThese were my first set of clip-in peddles and I can't fault them yet. The quality is excellent. After a bit of practice, you get used to clipping in and out with the "twist of the ankle". On my first serious ride (more than just going round the block) I had to suddenly stop at a traffic lights and although I could see myself in the floor still attached to the pedals... on the last second my right foot unclipped and I could land with no harm (for me or the bike!). Easy to install... Easy to mantain... Easy to use... can't say more than that!
Mr BenhamThese pedals are serious value for money, they last for years and just work hour and hour in all conditions. Unless you are a serious weight weenie, buy these pedals you won't regret it.
Mr McCormackGreat bomproof pedals not the lightest but very robust and reliable
Mr MatthewsI having been using these on ALL my bikes for a while now and bought these to go with my 105 group set purchase as I prefer SPD rather than SPD-L, Easy to install and from experience these will put up with a LOT of abuse.
Mr NicholsReally good indestructible cleats and pedals used most days for everything and easy to get correct setting. Highly recommended.
Chris AllansonExcellent pedals, bought for my road bike, but ideal for both mtb and road bikes. Absolute bargain, especially as the cleats and the plastic pedal platforms are included as well. With free delivery (they arrived the next day) why buy secondhand? Top product and top service from Merlin Cycles.
Mr MitchellGood functional pedals, but a little heavy. Very happy with them though.
Mr CooperGreat pedal, cheap, nice clip in, started off with it quite loose to get used to clicking in and out but after each ride tightening up the springs as I improve with the cleats and get more confident!
Jay AstonBought for my singlespeed bike! I wanted some simple but reliable pedals and that's exactly what I got. Top Shimano quality and superb Merlin service.
RheicelThis is now my 4th purchase of this pedal. M520 is a great value for Money. It runs smooth and last almost forever. They are a bit heavy but if you don't watch the wight of your bike, they are a good starter pedal, commuter pedal and in fact, I am using two of them in my Road Bikes. Merlin Cycles service is too good, and they ship fast to Australia.
VD CanberraFirst time to clipless pedals so didnt want to spend a lot. Ordered these from MC for $28 with shipping to Australia. Unbelievable price. Much cheaper than Wiggle and Chain Reaction. And certainly my LBS. These pedals are well made and unclip easily. As a bonus they come with the plastic pedal adapters. So couldnt be more happy. Well done Merlin. Would be looking forward to ordering more stuff in future
Mr OthenProbably the best budget pedals money can buy. Classic design, easy operation and long life span. Merlin's service continues to impress, fast postage and very cheap prices
Dr LassmanGreat value pedals. Really noticed the improvement in axle stiffness over my previous pedals (Crank Brothers). Clipping in and out gives clearer feedback than other pedals (you definitely know that you are clipped in). Relatively high stack height meant I had to fiddle with the bike fit quite a bit.
Mr WhiteAmazing pedals! Very easy to install and extremely durable. Not to mention that all other stores are selling them for 60 US Dollars and Merlin sold them for half that price. No complaints, so don't have any doubts about ordering products from Merlin.
R2Not as exciting as a new fork but new pedals and cleats can make a difference to your ride with a cleaner "clip in" - worth doing every couple of years and these pedals suit me well - and this was a great price from Merlin
ESP The only one!Ordered on the Sunday, delivered on the Tuesday, good service. As for the pedals, ordered them in white as my bike is white and once fitted they look very good. As I have only managed 6 rides due to the weather I cannot give a full review, but so far they seem well made, easy to clip in and out ( although as they are new they feel a bit stiffer than my 4 year old pedals they replaced ) and feel positive when spinning the wheels.
Mr morganSuperb SPD from Shimano. Fantastic price and service from Merlin once again!!
Dr JohnsExcellent pedals, and good service from Merlin.
Mr CookGood Price and Excelent service
Mr RebelloBest buy ever for the price!
Mr WINTOURI know these are the basic spd pedals, but they are fairly light , clip in and out well , are hard wearing, bearings are long lasting, and look good. And the usual brilliant service from merlin, GREAT STUFF!!
Mr DuffieldGreat fuss free pedals, easy to adjust and maintain.
robboGreat pedal for the money How do Merlin do it!!!
Mr LewisUsed on my daily commute, easy to clip in and out of,
Mr aveyardGreat value
Mr PreeceGreat service, ordered and received within 24 hrs. Half the price of my local bike shop. A1 Merlin.
Mr jacksonGood value for money solid pedals, nice and easy to clip in and out of which is good especially off road, ideal product.
Mr whitakerGreat, best price, no problems Works well for price
Mr MarotoThey arrived in two days! Everything perfect, very happy with the entire experience. I will definitely recommend
Mr HartleyGood quality pedals, reasonably priced.
Mr WhartonSpeedy delivery and look/feel the part waiting a good deal on some shoes before tested.
stebroThese Shimano M520's are great value for not a lot of cash! They are easy to fit, the bearings smooth, and come supplied with a set of cleats as well. Fast delivery and great price from Merlin Cycles. High recommended.
Mr AppleyardGreat value for entry level Pedals. Simple instructions to fit and use.
Mr SummersDoes what it says on the box!
Mr RashleighCost effective way of getting into SPDs, great Shimano build quality will last you more than a few years. Good for commuters and XC. As ever top service from Merlin, why look elsewhere
Mr herbertI've been using these pedals ever since I started using clipless and they never fail to impress at the price.
Mr ThomasBrilliant service and delivery. Pedals were easy to adjust. Used on several rides alreadywith no issues. Superb value.
Mr HansonExcellent all round pedal and very cheap
Mr matherBought these pedals for my first swoiree into clipped in cycling and have not been let down. The pedals arrived very quickly and were both easy to attach to my bike and adjust for tension on my shoes. They have performed really well, I have found that there is definately a bonus in using clipped pedals (more efficient) and have not fallen off yet. I would recommend these pedals to other newbies.
Mr OldhamQuick delivery Nice Job
Mr AllenUsed these pedals for years and can't really fault them, so have just got another set for using on a new road bike. It's hard to ignore these, when they cost only a few pounds
Mr patrickGood value pedals, little heavy but they work perfectly. Excdellent service from Merlin as ever.
Mr edgeAn excellent product, especially if used with plastic plate to allow normal shoe or cleated shoe riding without changing .pedal. Bought two pairs and fitted day they arrived
Mr ShepherdGood supplier. Best price. Recommended.
Mr WaughFantastic value set of pedals and even came with the clip in plastic flat adapter with reflectors.
Mr MooreNext day delivery and best price on t'internet, but you know that already. As a first time 'clipster,' I should spill the beans to all you other SPD virgins out there. Did i fall off? Yes, thrice, but comedy slo-mo falls and no injuries. Did I pedal more efficiently? Hard to tell as I hadn't been out for nearly a month and I had a hangover. I don't think there was much difference tbh. Anything else? Yes, unexpectedly (and I've not seen anybody else mention this) my bum hurt less during and after this ride than usual. Maybe having my feet clipped in made my legs and hips move properly, leading to less hip sway and reduced bum-burn. Maybe. Or maybe the red wine and vodka numbed my senses.
Mr athertonThese have been my MTB pedal of choice for many years, perform as well as XT for peanuts money. They last and last and I only ever need to buy a pair when I get a new bike. I am 100kg and ride 3-4 times per week at trail centres, on my local Clwyds and Snowdonia. I use them on my Cyclo Cross bike too! Don't buy anthing else unless you are loaded and need 'Labels'
Andy Wgood price good product quick delivery whats not to like.
Mr SkelleyCant go wrong what a price!
Mr fullerThese pedals are well worth the money
Mr GreenfieldBasic SPDs. No nonsense. Not particularly light but work just fine.
Mr WalkerGreat pedals which look really cool in white. You wont get better for the price and nor do you need to - does the job perfectly.
Mr IngramPerfect starter pedal with touring shoes, easy to get on the bike and with the reflector inclued it helps new starters find their feet easily at start off to clip in.
Miss WallaceExcellent value for money. Purhased these pedals for my Dad's birthday as he has just started using clipless pedals.
Mr di pasqualeOutstanding value for money! I cannot found better price anywhere else, fast and free delivery, great product! Fit perfectly on my rockrider shoes. I bought the 2 version black and silver both of them very nice, in my opinion i suggest the silver one if you look for something more, let's say discrete. For someone that like to appear a bit more i would suggest the black version as the cromatic contrast between bare metal, black (metal) and white shimano logo immediately jump at the eye! Another big plus? They came with a plastic insert pedal for the everyday "lazy" ride to go and buy the milk for example and you don't want to fit the cycling shoes! Overall great product, outstanding value for money and great shimano experience! HIGHlY RECOMMENDED! Thanks Merlin
Mr barrettgreat pedals excellent value as always from merlin
Mr SmithI have used Shimano spd's for years. These are as good as my XTR models at a fraction of the price just heavier. As I am not looking to save weight I don't see the need to spend top price for a quality spd.
Jamie Rawbrilliant pedals, used for daily commuting, mtb down muddy hills and more. Cheap, cheerful and ace.
Mr ForsterGood pedals cheapest website by far with next day delivery
PJ from northern IrelandExcellent pedals really easy to use and look good. Very good value for money. Would recommend to anyone.
Mr TraceyI've been using these for years, I can't really see much point in ever getting anything else!
Mr HawkinsFantastic value SPD pedal, works great and resists clogging with mud. I don't know how they do it for the price!
Mr BrandItem was best value for money i could find, delivery was next day, reccommeded by local bike shop who said they couldnt come close to them on price,,, soo happy
JonnyGreat set of introductory pedals. Easy to fit and set up Robust construction and they feel like a quality product.. I would recommend them.
RooterExtremely easy to fit and clip in shoes. i was skeptical about not having a "full size" pedal, however i am now powering up hills! just be careful at the traffic lights, have adjusted the spring tension to its lowest setting, which is perfect! Merlin were fantastic, 1. they accept paypal which is great when i have been selling rubbish on ebay, but dont like buying from there. 2. Very competitive prices and fantastic delivery. Thanks guys, keep up the good work!!
Mr BlondeA classic. Simple, cheap, does the job and last forever. Ok, so my previous set made it over 10,000 unserviced miles but who's counting? Run the more expensive XTs on my other bike and can't notice the difference to be honest. Great VFM.
Mr norrisGood product, quick delivery, thanks
Mr mascarenhasThis a classic! Very strong!!
Miss GarrettAwesome service from Merlin Cycles, and I love these SPDs so far! I've been biking to work with them this week - that's 11 miles round-trip that have now become so much more enjoyable with these pedals. And, MC sells them at the cheapest cost I could find - local or online! The product is every bit as good as the more expensive versions, however. The pedals come with instructions and cleats. I ordered from the US, and it took about two weeks to get here. I thought this was a pretty fast turn-around! I also sent customer service and email, and they were back to me within a day.
Mr Gomes D'AndreaExcellent shipment for Brazil
Mr DENNEHYGreat pedals at a great price. Easy to install. No complaints at all. Promptly delivered.
Mr helliergreat peddle fast delivery .recomend this and merlin cycles to all. top product top service. also cheaper than anywhere else
Mr SharpArrived next day. Exactly as ordered. I have been using the pedals for the last couple of weeks and am really happy with them.
Mr SimmondsDelivered on time. Pedals seem great but time will tell!
Mr MurrellThese are a TOTAL bargain!!! Great product at an amazing price, delivered next day. Cheers Merlin - perfect.
Lee SI decided to give SPDs another go after years on Egg Beaters, I liked the Eggs but the last
Mr MccannI purchased these pedals with a new mtb from merlin, on recomendation from a friend, great value for money product, and delivered on time. pedals and merlin does exactly what it sayes on the tin.
Simon PalmerAwesome pedal & Merlin were the cheapest & voted What Mountain Bike spd pedal winner 2012, enough said!
Mr davidsonCheapest price on a quality pedal. The SPD pedal is a great durable relatively lightweight pedal.
Stevie TeaseQuality pedals, I have had 3 pairs of these now over the last couple of years on various bikes. For the price you cant really beat them (Merlin have been the cheapest on the web for the past year). Come with cleats, so you may as well buy new pedals when your cleats are on the way out as cleats alone are
Mr brownsuperb service from merlin at the best price around.pedals delivered on time.these pedals are superb and are great value for money.
Mr Resendethis and my first pedal clip and more suitable for bikers. is the first step to start your mtb. Thank Merlin Cycles Ltd. insurance against future purchases and hoping to win the $ 100 voucher. Thank you.
Mr AllanHad M520 pedals on my hybrid and decided to change clipped pedals on road bike. M520's do what they say on the tin and if you're not that bothered about weight then I'd highly recommend them. 20 mile round commute daily for the last 2 years on the hybrid and the originals are still going strong. Merlin offer at a great price.
Mr NewmanThese are a great value for money first time cleat type pedal. Bought these as I didn't want to spend a fortune on a set. Wasn't sure I was going to be able to use cleats due to my right foot not being in line with my knee after a poor resetting of a tibia break years ago. They work well, clip in and out easily but with no slipping out while riding. Haven't had them for long but am loving the extra power I seem to have since fitting and using them on my bike.
Steve MetcalfeFor the money you can't beat these pedals.
Mr walkerIt's the first time I've used these pedals & they work really well & seem really good value for the price.
Mr RichmondQuick service, great price and quality product
Mr ReidExcellent product, service & value from Merlin Cycles.
SusanExcellent pedals with the usual Shimano quality and a real bargain from Merlin!
Mr WelburnHave bought several pairs of these over the last few years for cross and mountain bikes. You really can't go wrong at these sort of prices and the price include cleats as well. Shed mud well enough
Mr MilneOnly had a few rides, but absolutely love the new pedals. Great service, especially delivery to Australia. V. happy!
MattmagicBest price on the 'net and a total of 6 minutes from order confirmation to order dispatch! they were on my doorstep the next day, amazing!
Mr RaffinJust what I needed. Good price, delivered promptly. Working well with Shimano M063 shoes.
Mr GrytsjöThis must be the best value for the money clipless pedal...maybe a little bit heavier and not so good bearings comparing to the M540 but runs as good as the M540 according to me. Especially with the price from MerlinCycles : )
Mr CousinsLast ages and cheap as chips.
Mr HainsVery good pedals, very good price and very good service.
Mr HartThese pedals were a fantastic bargain at the price. Delivered in 48 hours. Great service.
Mr StewartThis is the first time I have used cleats and SPD pedals, and these are excellent for the money. I'm using them with my Giant Escape 2 hybrid bike. Just done the Workington/Tynemouth C2C at the weekend, and these pedals made a lot of difference. The service from Merlin Cycles was excellent, with fast free delivery. Very happy!
MattsterBonza deal! Les than 20 quid for no nonsense spds. Absolute bonus to find them without the retail packaging but with cleats and resin starter platforms! Next day delivery to boot!
Capt. K. JonesThis is my third set of M520 pedals, I sold the trikes the other two sets were on. If you're a weight weenie don't bother with these SPD pedals. If you want something that will out live your bike, get these or the M540s. Mud, Salt Water, beach sand or any other crud you throw at them will have just about no effect on them. Just hose them off. I've used them in Alaska and 47 of the lower 48 states. They are just plain dependable.
Mr HillThese are my first SPD pedals and I have to say they are superb pedals at a superb price. The usual great service from Merlin cycles.
