Sizing Information for Shimano Shoes
Comfy and supportive, the extra venting over the previous model (R087) means you've gotta be tough to use them in the winter without overshoes! But I'll appreciate the venting come the summer...come on summer!
I usually use EU size 46, after few review and this size 48 wide fit me good.
This is my first forage into the world or road biking, and as such wanted a comfortable, quality build shoe. The R088 is exactly this, and at a reasonable price too. I really like design, the ratchet system is easy to use and colour scheme works well - just need to see how clean they stay.
I have big, wide feet and these shoes fit perfectly - size 48w for my size 12 feet. They are fairly light and feel very secure.
Been using shimano mo87 spd wide fit for a few years now and thought it was about time to change to proper road shoes and pedals. Tried a few other brands of wide fit but they were too tight, so went for the ro88 wide fit a lot lighter and stiffer than the mountain bike version and seem to spread the weight better with the different cleat system but just as comfy.
Use these shoes for road bike and spinning. Wanted something simple, functional and light. These tick all the boxes and great price on Merlin (best I could find on the web). I have wide-ish feet and opted for the wide option. Glad I did as it provides room in the toe section which prevents crushing (which leads to cold and painful feet) but still feels supportive.
At last a pair of shoes my wider than normal feet feel comfortable in. I now have no burning sensation in my left foot after riding for more than 2 hours or completing a session with high intensity. For the price you get an excellent shoe, yes its not as stiff as much more expensive Carbon shoes but as I'm not a pro comfort takes a precedence.
I would definitely recommend these shoes to anyone with wide feet.
Great shoes at a fantastic price. I bought these with Shimano PD-R550 SPD-LS Road Pedals, my first clip in shoes and pedals and they are fantastic. As ever superb service from Merlin. Thanks guys.
Absolutely delighted with these shoes. They fit like a glove and because Shimano shoes can be a bit 'iffy' when it comes to sizing, the chart that Merlin provide is spot on and really assisted in choosing the right shoes..... a godsend when buying online and not actually going in to try them on. Price wise, I don't think you'll get a better shoe out there and even more so because it takes two types of cleat, again a huge plus for me as I prefer mtb pedals to standard road. That said, it means if wanted to change pedals, I don't need to go to the expense of buying new shoes too. Once again Shimano have come out on top ang got it right on all counts. If you're on a budget and want to look great with the flexibility to change between cleat and pedal types, then look no further than these.
Hallelujah: top notch, great value cycle shoes that fit my feet and put the cleat in the right place relative to my foot. My cycling enjoyment is transformed.
glad I read other reviews - am size 10 and size 46 fit well - anyone who uses orthotics like me can also easily fit them in the shoes too and for me this makes a big difference - the toe box is nice and wide too so I didn't get the usual foot numbness like I do with my narrower dhb brand ones after an hours riding . Shame they are white as dirty already , but you can't have everything !!!
I had previously worn a cheap pair of shoes so these are my first half decent pair. They are very comfortable, light and airy. Highly recommended and at a great price.
Great shoes especially for the price! Wide fit is almost perfect for my ridiculous feet.
Good shoes but slightly larger than the same mtb ones for the same size.
Bought these with some Exustar pedals. I've got other Shimano shoes so know that I need a 44. Got a wide and the fit very well. Seem very good quality, nice supple leather and pretty light. Strap and wratchet system secure and comfortable. Good kit, good price, great delivery time.
Comfortable and good fit, but per other recommendations try sizing before you buy - had to go for 45 with my normal size being 43. Recent purchase and first of road shoes, and only worn 3 times to date but look like they will give long service and be durable. be long serviceable. Excellent price
Really pleased. Did my homework befor buying so no messing about with sizes great fitting shoe and very white! now need to get them a little dirty. delivery and service spot on. A shoe that does as it says on the tin. Go on... press the buy button
Awesome, very comfortable and delivered next day :)
At this price they are unbelievably good! Gave up looking for UK 'less mesh' on front shoe that looks like its not a winter boot and settled on a ratchet over velcroe as this hold you more on a wider area, alot better.
My first pair of road shoes. I have had a mountain bike for 25+ years but after my third hip replacement decided to get a road bike. Initially I put SPD pedals on the road bike so I could use the mtb shoes on both bikes. This year although not convinced by the usual hype I changed to SPD-SL with no expectation BUT was truly amazed by decreased times - 3 minutes off a 30 km ride still riding 75-82% heart rate and an average 70 cadence. As a pensioner I am delighted with my new shoes, very comfortable and the ratchet allows me to get the shoes nice and tight which I think does give me much better power transmission especially on the up stroke. I know these are regarded as entry level shoes but well worth a try at the price.
