Peter M I am quite impressed with this groupset: shifting is very smooth and precise, the braking is excellent and the crankset is just stiff enough to make me feel like I am pedaling with authority. Highly recommended!
Simon The campagnolo centaur is now the lowest group in the range. It's the first time I have seen this new group in person but I must say I'm impressed. The quality is the usual campagnolo and if your already a campagnolo user then you know what I mean. Shifting is very good and the price is quite honestly unbelievable. For something of this quality and performance it's very good value. Merlin don't supply the bottom bracket cups with the group. This is totally understandable, there's a lot of different bottom bracket types out there these days and the cups are cheap enough so your probably best sorting those out yourself anyway.
Peter As a life-long Campagnolo user, I am delighted by this keenly priced new Centaur groupset from Merlin. Yes, it may be 'entry-level' but still it's true, superior Campagnolo quality.. Merlin's packaging service was excellent too: parts were individually boxed and protected, not thrown together in bubble-wrap. (See also my Google review of Merlin's service).
ALAN I received the Centaur group this morning to replace a 5800 105 group. I couldn't wait to fit it. Unboxing the components I was impressed with the solid look and quality feel of the components. The group was quick to install with a set of allen keys and a BB spanner. I used a KMC quick link for the chain. Very easy to setup the gears. On a quick test ride I found the gear shifting solid and precise (running on a shimano 11-32 cassette). Brakes didn't need much squeeze to slow up. Very happy with my purchase and Merlin's fantastic service.
