Castelli Alpha RoS 2 Cycling Jacket - AW22
Castelli Alpha RoS 2 Cycling Jacket - AW22
The Alpha RoS 2 Jacket from Castelli is the ultimate winter jacket bringing warmth, high breathability, and protection against the rain along with a soft and comfortable fit.
The exterior of the jacket is made from GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ WINDSTOPPER® fabric. The lightweight fabric has a unique membrane that delivers the triple crown of being completely windproof, highly breathable, and water repellent, while offering insulation.
Minimal seaming and seam sealed shoulders eliminate points where moisture can enter the jacket when you are venturing through mist, wet roads, and even incessant light rain.
The unique dual-layer construction of the Alpha is where its insulating qualities really excel. Underneath the exterior layer, the Alpha jacket has an internal vest that hugs close to your body. This offers insulation suitable down to -5˚C, and it also means you can regulate your temperature with ease. You can open the external layer to allow airflow into the jacket and evacuate moisture without sacrificing insulation and exposing your body to wind chill.
A double-layer cuff integrates with winter gloves and a lie-flat waist hugs close to the body to prevent cold from entering at the jacket’s openings.
The stretch fabric is in an updated pattern with a narrower panel between the shoulders and a wider front that makes for a close-to-body fit that minimises flapping and better reflects the shape of your body on the bike. The new cut accommodates a wide range of body types and positions on the bike.

Sizing Information for Castelli Clothing:
Mr Williams I bought this for really cold rides, so haven't really tried it yet, but it is well made, and should do the job well when needed
jan Great jacket, very warm, tested on hilly MTB ride, subzero temperature, it seems to be too warm by very uphill ride, but then by downhill really appreciated warmth. All in all, it is worth that money.
Mr Woodward A winter game changer, very warm, very bright colour do no excuse for not being seen but not to bulky
Mario This is a great Jacket! I read so many reviews of all the top jackets and kept coming back to this one. When Merlin put it on sale at that price I jumped on it and I got it within a few days, which I wouldn’t have expected over the holidays. Service was excellent and the Jacket turned out to be even better than the reviews. I'm 6' 2" 200 lbs and the 3xl was a perfect fit.
Lee I bought this when it came up on sale, I have be tsser winter jacket, I didn’t want anything too bulky and thi fitted the bill. I was a bit wary of buying online with Castelli sizing being notoriously small. I was looking to order XL on the basis I am large in everything else from other makes of clothing.. I am 6.2” tall 40 chest 34w and about 14st. The jacket arrived promptly from Merlin well packaged and looked good coming out of the bag. I wanted the orange colour as I am out early on my weekly social rides and in all weathers so decided to make myself as visible as possible, It is a very loud colour! I tried the jacket on as suggested with just a base layer and it is a very snug fit but feels very good on, there is also a handy secure pocket on the left hand hip area to keep valuables, I can just about keep my phone in there. The arms and back are just the right length for me and there is a bit of space in the bicep area which can sometimes be an issue. There is an inner zip for the windproof material inside the jacket on the chest and shoulders area which you need to zip up as well as the outer zip. I first wore the jacket last weekend, it was 3c-6c with a feels like temp of around 0c. I wore it on a 3.5hr 70 mile ride on a social ride, I wore the Castelli flinders neck warmer base layer under the jacket and i was perfectly happy, my temp seemed ideal, i do wonder how it would feel if i stayed off the bike for too long but considering it was quite windy and cold it left me feeling warm but not hot, however towards the end of the ride and as temp was rising it did start to feel a bit warm, I don’t think this would be suitable above about 10c unless you undid the inner liner perhaps? Overall very pleased with the fit finish and performance of the jacket, very expensive and a bit of a niche piece of clothing but should last many years.
