Mr HibbertBrilliant shoes value for money
BryanI've had the RC1s for a couple of years and have just bought the RC2 which shares the exact same rock solid stiff sole, first time I've had shoes with this type of BOA fastener but it's so much better / simpler than velcro straps, if your worried about the wire, Spares are readily available and the shoes come with the torx tool and there's plenty of instruction repair videos on you tube so no worries there. The shoes are synthetic leather with a reinforced toe box, removable insole, and 3 or 2 bolt fixing system, the soles are vented but I've removed the insole to tape them up till the summer, sizing is accurate, I'm a 45 in a Shimano shoe and a 45 in these...as for value, at £47:50 you'll struggle to match the spec and quality and if they are as hard wearing as the RC1 which have been great I'll be happy
Mr BaxterNice comfortable summer road bike shoe
DanDecent value for money and good construction, and relatively comfortable. I needed that half size smaller, but it wasn't an option.
Mr Murrayfitted as expected, well ventilated, so much so that they're a bit chilly now that the temperatures have dropped. They fitted as expected when i ordered them in my usual shoe size. All round good value for money.
Mr HonnVery high quality, love it because they have both 2 hole and 3 hole receptors so it is easy to upgrade from spd to spd-sl for example.
Mr IllanaFirst time I have bought and used cycling shoes. They are very easy to use and seem very robust and comfortable.
RobertShoes bought for our son. First proper cycling shoes. Good fit, he finds them very comfortable with no slipping.. They look very smart with the added bonus on the BOA closure. These appear to be very good value. Time will tell with regard to longevity but all good at the moment. Excellent customer experience as usual. Thanks.
LFeel comfy and look solid. But not too sure about the durabilty of the wire lace. Think a velcro strap would have been better. How do you fix the wire lace if it breaks.
ChristopherGreat value, 0 complaints
Jim WoodGood fit. both for the foot and in the pedals. Excellent quality . Very comfortable on a long ride.. Great cost too.
Andrew ZhuReally good shoes for the cheap price. The lacing system (kinda like BOA) is pretty good and works. I'm usually a 7.5 WIDE USA size but a size EU42 fit okay with about an inch or a little bit more room in the front.
Mr NewsomeVery comfortable and light weight. I love the boa system for tightening
Mr SharpeBuild isn't great, but for £50 you get what you pay for. Compatible with all cleet types which is a huge bonus.
Mr SalihComfortable fit and easy fastening
Mr MVery decent shoes. Convenient boa strap. Sole has a bit more flex than similar shoes . This means more comfort, but also a bit less speed (probably).
Sprinty McgintyOk so, the snob in me won't wear these out on the road. I got these to abuse on the turbo to save my good shoes, regardless of what people say TURBO KILLS EVERYTHING. The shoes themselves are perfectly good for my requirement or for an entry into 'road shoes' I'd say they out perform a more expensive shoe and you can't go wrong for the price point. They are well padded, which may be an issue on the turbo in high summer, but also have a reasonable amount of venting. In short, they are good at what they are, just not pretty.
Mr KentShoes are really comfortable and a good spec. Very happy with my purchase
Mr DouglasReally pleased with these shoes, stiff soles and comfortable, fitted Look Keo cleats without any problems. Excellent value for money, will be purchasing a second pair for use with SPDs, dual fitting a real bonus..
Mr BristowFantastic shoe, especially for the price! Nice and stiff but comfortable, and the size was just right. The twist lock works well and holds securely. I have been a top brand shoe purchaser in the past, but love these!! Well done Merlin!!
Mike JohnsonI went for my usual 42, and they fitted well. There seems to be less ventilation than I have had before, but appropriately firm and squeak free. The wire loop fastener is quick and works well. These shoes unusually offer fastenings for two or 3 bolt cleats; I'm using these as SPD for now, though the cleat is completely exposed so is no better for walking than SPD-SL/Keo.
PseudomaxA well made, comfortable shoe! Would highly recommend!
CharlesGood fit, comfortable and easily adjustable shoes.
M BarlowFirst pair of road bike shoes and can not fault them. Ridden 150km so far and no pain or hot spots. BOA style fastening for this price is great. Being new to cycling I didn’t realise the cleats come with the pedals not shoes so I was surprised when I opened the box (was given a bike by a family friend and didn’t realise). I fitted them with Shimano SH56 SPD cleats as am new to road cycling so wanted to have the multidirectional release. When people say you will forget to unclip and fall off when you first start they aren’t lying. Luckily your natural reaction to pull your foot up works with these cleats fitted and I didn’t fall in to my wife’s car on this occasion! For the price would definitely recommend.
Mr TurnerGreat shoes really comfy. The ratchet system works well. Equal quality to the premium brands.
Mr HughesComfortable shoe, lightweight and a good price, I would buy again
Mr HallA superb fit, and really well made.
PeetrootWent for my usual everyday shoe size but found I had to size up. Exchange was quick and easy. Appear to be great value for money
Mr FarmerVery happy with my purchase very pleased with the quality for the money thumbs-up for me
SiobhanComfy - fit well as per the sizing. Good for first-time clipless.
Mr MacleodHaving never cycled in road shoes and clipless pedals before, I bought the competitively priced Merlin RC2 road shoes. My first outing was 30 miles in the rain and the road shoes were a big step up from trainers. I'm a UK size 12 and the EU47 fits perfectly, the shoes are a bargain and easy to set up. I highly recommend these shoes.
Joshthe picture dont do these shoes justice because they are so much nicer in person, the air vents are great and keep your feet nice and cool. I've done about 300 miles on my bike with these and going strong. Great entry level shoe at a great price
Mr WilliamsThese shoes were on offer so I bought them. No regrets at all. They are light and very comfortable
Mr BondI normally wear size 10 and the 45s are a comfy fit with no hassle in fitting Keo cleats
Mr RobinsExtremely happy with the RC2 shoes. I'm generally a size 7.5 or 8 so bought the size 42 shoes. They're a perfect fit and the dial fastener is brilliant, enabling me to make precise adjustments. I have two bolt cleats and they were very easy to attach and adjust. I've been on a few 30 mile rides since purchasing the shoes and they have been extremely comfortable with no issues so far. The only thing you might want to consider when buying these is whether or not you will need to walk for any extended amount of time in the shoes. Obviously being 'road' shoes they are perfect if you are just wearing them for cycling and walking short distances to and from your bike. But as there is no recess in the sole the cleats are quite prominent, meaning you wouldn't really want to walk for too long in them. This is not a criticism though. Just something to consider if you are looking for a shoe that you can also walk in.
Mr LonsdaleThese are my first road shoes for my first road bike so while I don’t have any point of reference, I’m really pleased With them! They’re comfortable, true to size so a great fit and appear to be really well made, as well as being great value for money. Highly recommended
HuwVery happy with shoes. Very comfortable
Mr CrossHave now worn twice and have to say very comfortable and no foot issues at all. Sizing feels identical to my shimano ones. Adjustment is really easy and great to get shoes with a dial adjustment for under £50. Will definitely be looking at Merlin when my son needs his replacing.
Mr HickeyNice and comfortable, tight fit so I ordered a size above my normal shoe size and they fit perfectly.
Mr GoddardExcellent product ,very comfortable and great looking shoe
HappyChapBrought an Aero Merlin Bike last year, and needed some new shoes. what goes with a Merlin bike, Merlin Shoes. not used them yet as only came yesterday but first impression was, WOW. they look great , cant wait to get them on. i wonder if they sell Merlin socks hmmmm, best get shopping again
Mr WayVery comfortable to do long rides in. Found them easy to install the cleats
Mr StevensonGood for the price, quite a slim fit.
Mr FieldNice shoe, as good as £100 pair, good fit, insole could be better slightly thicker.
Mr ClarkeBought these to use for spin classes. Excellent fit and really comfortable regardless of how long I spend cycling
GrahamI bought these for my wife for her spinning classes. She finds the women-specific shoes too narrow but with these I went one EU size up and they were spot on. Very impressed with the quality, especially given the price. An excellent purchase!
