Mr JedrGood value for money.
Mr MasonPerfect fit on the bike. The product description was spot on by Merlin.
Rob MPerfect size and great attachment method. I previously had a 15l handlebar bag but in practice found it far too big and heavy to be on the bars - this is a much better size and the attachment system is extremely good. Double ended dry bag with a valve too - perfect. Absolute bargain at this price in my opinion.
Mr PittLovely bag. Looks great, fitted well. Happy so far.
CarlExcellent quality well made and seems very robust
Disco StuExcellent quality as ever from Topeak, this basically bar bag frame and stuff sac, which means the loading options are endless, from a bikepacking kit and commute with uniform, to misbehaving sausage dogs or some shopping. Can't wait to use it anger next year on KAW.
New to bikepackingSeems very solid and sturdy. The air release valve system is good although I did notice the bag getting larger throughout the day but didnt pose an issue.
Miss OcejoPerfect fit for my road bike and very stable bag. Huge fan of the air release valve, it makes the bag incredibly compact. The flexible design allows several configurations to best accommodate different bar dimensions. Overall great product and good priced.
Matt MGreat bar bag. Recently took on a bikepacking trip and served me well. Although, I would say dropped bar bikes will limit the capacity of this bag due to shape of bars and location of shifters etc. Therefore, a flat bar bike would be better if you were really looking to maximise load at the front of the bike. Was also a decent price, approx. £20 cheaper than anywhere else!
Kye sumVery well made bikepacking handle bar bag. Easy to install and remove. I particularly like the double ended waterproof dry bag. Perfect loader at a good price. Don't hesitate.
Mr MontagueI’ve bought a few Topeak items and this looks to be another well designed product. I like the roll tabs at each end, and fitting it to my bike was easy. The air release valve, whilst seeming a little gimmicky, is a good idea and it works very well.
Mr SPIts good. Wish it was a tad more water resistant but the other features are fantastic. Much easier to load/unload off a muddy mtb than competitors equivalents. Only point to note is that it needs to be fairly full for the securing strap piece to work as intended.
RomanI like it. I was worried that the dry bag will be thick and stiff but it is the opposite. It is also great to have a valve in the dry bag - this way I can put my sleeping bag and clothes inside without using a compression sack.
ChristopherFlexible design with lots of options/ configurations available via the different straps, spacers etc. Can have as wide/ narrow as necessary to accommodate bar dimensions.
Mr WishartBought this along with the Topeak Backloader Seat Pack bag prior to my first bike-packing experience and I cannot fault it. Value for money for sure. It's simple to use, feels quite secure (was worried about wobble but it felt good and secure) The drybag with air release valve is an excellent feature and allowed me to pack more than I imagined. Another nice feature is the quick release system that frees the dry bag from the holder with releasing just a couple of buckles. Very happy with this product and highly recommended at the price too!
Pat BNice and simple bag. Probably not waterproof under heavy downpours but will do the job under normal wet weather.
MattI'm very impressed with this handlebar bag, yet to use it on a long ride but the quality of the materials and the well thought out design have me confident. The pressure release valve is a very useful feature too. Excellent value for money.
Mr HorwoodRecently trialled the front loader with an 80km overnight stay. Delighted that it is secure and stored my gear easily. Simple to install - its a winner
LeeSolid bit of kit at a great price - initially intended for use with my gravel bike so capacity limited due to width restrictions between bars, it sits nice and snug between drops though, and should fit perfectly or even better on mtb bars (wider = more load capacity). Only tested on a two day trip so far, but handled everything with aplomb including rough and technical off road tracks, fast 70kmh road sections , and cranking of bike left and right up 17º climbs ... everything stayed put nicely throughout the trip with only minor adjustments required to tighten straps as the bag settled into place after first hour or two of riding. Double ended dry bag a great idea, as is the valve on it to remove excess air. The fact that you can remove just the dry bag and leave the mounting system attached to the bike is a great design idea too, saves a lot of time and fiddling about packing and unpacking. I did not test this in the rain, however cannot see why there would be any issues if caught in a torrential downpour - although lighter than the blackburn dry bag, still seems like it is more than up to the job. The straps provided keep things secured in place as mentioned and there are extra straps for putting tent inner/ sleeping bag or similar lightweight bulky stuff out in front. One improvement might be some kind of spacer to hold bag away from frame or off the cables at front of bike as I believe some of the other front packs have, however a bit of foam and/or imagination could quickly rectify this if it became a real concern. Bought this for use in conjunction with Blackburn outpost seat pack (prefer design over topeak - see review here), plus topeak top tube bag and topeak fuel tank bag ... which all worked great together and even though only tested on a couple of day trip so far, I threw a lot of terrain at it and am now more than comfortable setting out on long tours with this setup. Overall, solid bit of kit, great price, versatile and does what it is supposed to with minimal hassle and fuss. Definitely recommend at the price Merlin are offering it.
Mr RenshawSuperb fit across the bars with little tweaks to add stuff on and very sturdy..
BarrettTop quality item. Easy to mount on my bike and stayed in place really well after long hours of riding. Was able to pack my sleeping gear and spare clothes into it easily. The air release valve was particularly useful.
NZ RIDERGreat bag for the price, seems well made so far. It can certainly hold plenty, especially with the extra straps for attaching another dry bag to the front. Fairly easy to fit on an Mtb, and you don't lose too much visibility of the front wheel.
Mr MoranGreat, flexible racking system with excellent dry bag
Mr T J HansenI love my new Topeak Frontloader Handlebar Bag 8L, perfect for my tent, sleeping pad and sleeping bag. I live in Denmark and ordered it Monday and got it delivered Thursday, really good job merlincycles :o)
DaveThis is a fantastic bikepacking/touring bag, I highly recommend it. The bag is simply a waterproof liner held in place by a large fabric cover that attaches to the handlebars; this works very well and is lightweight. The straps are sturdy, the box supplies spacers for customization, and the drybag can be large or small depending on use case. No complaints at all. A great product.
neilJust beginning my bikepacking adventures and this is perfect for my tent and clothing. Simple to fit and can remove dry bag without need to remove the harness good price compared to other brands
SWoodyInitially I found the set up of the attachment to the handlebars difficult to get right but once sorted I have found it to be very stable. The air release valve is amazing and makes compacting the bag fantastically superior to other bags.
Mr D'EmdenEasy to set up, perfect for my sleeping bag, love the water proof bag. Thanks Merlin
johnVery pleased with the frontloader used it for my sleeping bag . Very secure didn't wobble around and didn't interfere with the cables. Only used it on my road bike so far and couldn't fill it to capacity should be able to get spare clothes in to when used with flat bars.
