General information about our shipping
These are my go-to tyres these days. I use them on all my bikes, they wear well and inspire confidence, Definitely recommend.
Best all round tire. Tried some Michelin Pro 3 Race and I went back to these GP4000S II's.
Awesome grip in all weather, puncture protection is great only had 1 in 2500 miles which was actually my fault, running them too low
Another great price and quality product package. These tires are my go too favorites as they grip well, resist flats well, ride comfortably, and last a long time.
Good price for 2x tyres and tubes made even better with Spend & Save. Bought 25mm tyres and mounted on fairly wide rims so they feel pretty comfy. I ran them at 100psi for a 185km sportive and got no pins and needles in my hands (and no punctures!). The tubes have 48mm valves. They seem fine. Excellent service as always from Merlin.
Still my favorite tires to date, super fast
I`ve tried the others and these are still the best out right, cannot fault these tyres.
Excellent all round tyre. Fast rolling and yet seems to resist punctures to a high degree. Tried several other brands (either fitted to new bikes or bought because on offer) but always come back to these eventually!!
Great price and delivery, this my second order for these, rear tire wearing out after 2000+ miles, one puncture, front tire still almost new! Bike rides noticibly smoother and faster. Best tires ever!
Great tyres and tubes at a great price. Personally I think Vittoria open corsa cx are better for suppleness and rolling resistance, but these are much better wearing.
Great classic tires with little fuss, minimal rolling resistance, and minimal risk of punctures.
Good racing tires. No flats after 1000km. Nice wear indicators.
Fast and durable tires. The best one I've ever used. I prefer the 23 mm on Fulcrum Racing 3 wheels (15 mm internal rim width) because 25 mm forms a bulb shape which is not good.
In 20 years of road cycling I'm yet to find a better (clincher) tyre. Fast, good in the wet and highly puncture proof, these are just the best. I reckon these are one of the 'great' cycling products to be honest!
After Schwalbe One's failure, I choose to buy Contis. So far I'm happy with them. They're reliable. Great price, as always.
After riding tubulars for most of my riding I wanted to switch to a nice set of clincher wheels and tires.I finally settled on the GP 4000S II's. I was reluctant to switch because I was worried about the ride quality compared to my tubulars. These tires have been awesome, roll nice, easy to mount and so far have worn really well.
After over 30 years of cycling these have been the only tyres I've used for the past couple of years. They are reasonably durable and the performance is unmatched by any other clincher I've used.
Great upgrade from stock Specialized tyres. Fast rolling, bike feels better. They seem grippy and tough too.
Great tires. I get 4000 miles on a pair. Only extreme hazards cause flats, e.g sharp metal piercing objects... very rare.
Was unsure as I usually use Schwalbe tyres all the time - however as they do not do Marathon Supremes in 28c I thought I'd give these Conti's a go and - have been really impressed - in wet and dry conditions - the handling is assured through corners and the 28c rolls lovely and makes the rough roads seem butter smooth - really glad I made the change and you can't fault the two free inner tubes!
Best value and fastest tire on the market. Free speed with low rolling resistance. Seamless delivery. Well recommended.
These were an upgrade from the GP 4 seasons which I had been very happy with (no punctures in 5000kms). The new tyres are great, they feel a lot better on the road and seem to soak up the rougher road surfaces better than the 4 seasons.
I was a little bit wary from ordering "across the pond", but Merlin Cycles came through, and then some. Got the correct package on time, well before it's stated date. Of course you can't beat the price either! In terms of the tires......I can only say that they are outstanding. Light, tough, and pretty damn good in the wet weather; typical of conti's I have ridden in the past.
Fantastic as usual, just a new pair for the shimano RS21 wheelset, have been riding these for a year and a half, on daily bike ride, great ride no failures.
They are my go to tyres, used others in the past but always return to them.
These replaced my Michelin Pro4 Service Course tires after numerous flats from thorn punctures. The new Contis roll fast and the upgrade to 25 width made all the different in cornering and comfort. The package price made the purchase even better.
Great tires. Low rolling resistance and seem robust. I ride mostly in the city where there's a lot broken glass and haven't gotten a puncture after almost a month of daily riding.
Perfect upgrade from the stock Schwalbe Lugano set on my bike. I cut 10 seconds off my time on a 1.4 mile route with these tires. I love these tires.
The best tyres there is. I bought tons of these for my friends. specially the 23C. I personally prefer the 25C ones.
This is my second set. First was 23mm, currently i'm using 25mm. Fast, durable, excellent tires. Thank you Merlin.
Excellent tyres that provide a smooth ride, nice grip and good durability. More than meets my general usage needs.
Easily the best all around high performance tire made. Combination of grip, durability, and speed. Glad to see it is now made in 28mm too!
Wow. Tried these after gatorskins and can really feel the difference. Fast and supple.
You will not be disappointed with these as they offer excellent grip in both dry and wet conditions. Went for the wider 25mm option and the increased level of comfort was noticeable. Also roll very well. On the service side Merlin delivered within a couple of days, so full marks there......
I'm definitely tempting fate here !!! ButI've ridden nearly 500 miles on these tyres in the last few weeks. On my previous pair of well known branded "durable" tyres, I would have had about 5-6 punctures by now. Very happy with these, worth the extra expense just to save on the cost of inner tubes,
Fantastic tyres. Grip like glue to the road in dry and wet conditions. Puncture resistance is bullet proof (up to 5000 Ks) You get great millage too! 25 VS 23: This is my first set of 25s, and I am impressed. A cushier ride without compromising rolling resistance (much).
These have become my go-to tires for both racing and training. Low rolling resistance yet with good durability and good value (particularly from Merlin which is typically 50% less than brick and mortar retail in the U.S.) Certainly on of the best tires made and nice to get a couple of tube also!
I have tried many different tyres and these remain my firm favourites. Good adhesion, long life and good puncture resistance.
Best all round tyres! VVery good rolling resistance with great puncture protection. Now fitted on my winter, summer and race bikes!
Fast, long lasting and dependable. I am 90kgs and they last 4 ,000 to 4,500kms. Which is really good as everything else lasts less.
Awesome tires, I've been using these for 2 seasons now.
This review is for the 700 x 28 tyres. The GP 4000 have an excellent reputation, but my observations: 1. They aren't 28 - but 30 so clearances a problem for road bikes. 2. A "balloon" shape so a lot of tyre in contact. 3. Three punctures in 6 months of light use, one of those things perhaps, but not a strong tyre for the winter. 4. Soft rubber which expands as you pump to pressure ; when you get a puncture you can see the hole. 5. In my experience poor rolling resistance. 6. The Gatorskins [also a Continental tyre] which replaced the GP 4000s roll much better and comes out as a small 28. Also, oddly, a more comfortable ride. So for me these tyres have been rather a waste of money. Maybe the 23s and 25s are better, and I hesitate to give less than 3 stars to tyres which have such a good reviews elsewhere.
Superb quality tires. Light rolling, good puncture resistance, comfortable road feel and confident cornering. Nice.
Great set of tyres, very reasonably priced AND with a cheeky pair of tubes thrown in for good measure. Very happy cyclist! Very easy to install, and must say they're the stickiest tyres I've ridden - lots of confidence going into the corners. Merlin cycles got them to me nice and quickly too
Got these as a spare, yes they are that dependable.
Great tyres used them before no punctures on last set
Great tyres, much better grip than my Gatorskins. Bought 28mm to run at a lower pressure and certainly gives a more comfortable ride without any difference that I can notice to rolling resistance.
I have been riding with these tires for the past two and a half years and the only issue I have had is that I wear them out. (ave 2500-3500 miles per season) Once worn past recommended thread level they are more susceptible to cuts and punctures. I have ran over rocks, sticks, metal pieces with confidence. Would like to see the price on the colored ones go down for me to get try them too.
Rolls way faster than espoir elite 25mm. Measured almost 5% faster according to my GPS. Measured about 30mm on my 24mm wheels.
I've been riding these Conti's for over a year and leapt at the opportunity to buy another pair at such a phenomenal price. Merlin Cycles: Value Added! Thank you!!
Great tyres! Have ridden them over 30,000 miles, and mixed in others, and keep coming back to these. For comfort, grip in all conditions, weight they are soooo reliable. Some have commented they cut more easily than a few others, but they all cut, and those others mentioned don't have the grip or feel these have.....
Fantastic tyres. Perfect fit for bike/wheels, easily fitted. Roll great. Ridden first off along a bit of gravel (no cuts) and on a long tarmac climb/descent. I was fully confident descending at speed on these. The 25mm size definitely added some comfort compared to last 23mm tyres
Fantastic tires, worth the cost. Noticeably stable around corners. And of course great service and delivery time from Merlin.
Very happy with these tyres; being fast yet durable as well.
I've been using GP4000 tires for about 7 years without any issues. The tires are reliable and last a long time, even on occasional gravel and dirt surfaces. The order process with Merlin was easy and I received the tires within a few days.
Fast delivery, low price and two free inner tubes. Good deal. The tyres are my favourite for summer. Roll well and don't puncture easily.
my 3rd pair, good reliable tyres. Trusty grip and handling in most conditions . Highly recommended
I live in Arizona, USA and we have a lot of stickers or thorns. These tires did not do well with flats. I had 3-5 flats on each tire before I gave up on them. This was at probably less than 400 miles. Many that I ride with love these and that why I tried them but I had bad luck. Grip and ride was great.
I've only previously used Michelin Pro 3 and 4 tires - so I'm no expert on all the different tires on the market, but after trying the original 4000s and now the updated version, I've been very impressed. In saying that, my first pair were very tight (too tight to get onto the rim and never really loosened up) but these new ones are that little big bigger and no problem getting on. They seem fast, wear very well compared to the Michelins, and I've also found the grip to be superior. So in my experience these are excellent all round and fast tires.
Fast delivery and a great deal. As for the tyres I like contis, my local roads are rough country lanes with cattle grids etc and I am quite large so I went with 28 mm to replace the old giant 25 mm and the ride is smoother and more forgiving and they seem to roll a little faster over the rougher surfaces.
Good value when bought as a pack with free inner tubes. I have used Grand Prix 4000s many times before and find them very good for grip and mileage. The only niggle I have is the last few I have had got damaged on the side walls (very thin) by random loose stones after the winter. I am not sure whether I was just unlucky or ran them too soft 90 to 100 psi, I have decided to run them at not less than 110 psi from now on in the hope that as the tyre rolls over a stone it will not slide off it and puncture through the sidewall.
Great tyres. Used them to replace the Schwalbe Lugano's that came with my Caad8, and these are so much better. Quicker, less prone to punctures, and I feel much more confident on the bike, too.
I went for the 28mm version of this long established tyre and found them to be excellent in all conditions with the added advantage of slightly improved comfort without compromising rolling speed.
For me, GP4000s are the best bang for your buck tyre around. I get awesome mileage out of them (up to 7000km a set, but I'm a lightweight!) and the only punctures I ever get are from tacks being laid on a local road by a crazy nutter who hates bikes. Plus the 2x deal offered is the best around.
Like the previous 4000s but better. In the 25mm width they roll well, grip well and are comfortable - just the job.
Great tyres for daily use as well as long distance riding without trouble. Many cyclists are using 4000 S II with many good reasons.
Switched from my 25mm Schwalbe Duranos and loving the difference - 28mm work really well on the roads in my area. Great service from Merlin as well.
Great tires that are quiet and roll well. Very good at absorbing impact and seem pretty puncture resistant.
After having tried many brands and types of tyres, I have found the Continental GP400 S to be the best all rounder. I seldom get punctures, they last a long time and offer a smooth comfortable ride. If its quality and value for money you are looking for, look no further.
I've fitted these tyres to my cross bike to improve my road riding. They are noticeably lighter, faster, and more comfortable than the predecessors. I'm running 90psi in the rear and 80psi in the front and find this very comfortable and grips well too.
This tyre is really fast and you can trust on corners. Also very durable with wonderful puncture resistance
Awesome with improved traction hence better handling especially in the corners with the wider 25mm's. Rotating weight slightly increased but negligible. I would go with the wider width for training and racing any day. Highly recommended
The continental GP4000 S II's are the fastest, most durable tire I have ever experienced for a racing road tire. There are tires that are more durable, but you will sacrifice the lower rolling resistance of the GP4000's. You just can't beat them. I have used michellin pro 4's and had problems with flats, but the continentals last and last with over 4k miles just last year. If you want speed and the confidence of continental durability, these are the tires for you.
I bought these tires at one of the cheapest prices you can find online for a pair of continental GPs2 tires and on top of the low prices, they threw in a bonus pair of free inner tubes to match which is awesome. The continental GPs2 tires have great traction with low rolling resistance, I didn't understand how you could have the best of both aspects but these tires are the real deal. I only buy continental GPs2 for my road bikes and these are my 4th pair. Long lasting and easy to fit tire, can't complain.
Continental Gp's are the best road tyre you can get. I keep trying other brands from time to time but the Gp's are my baseline......, and to be able to pick up a set of 28mm GP4000s was fantastic. They will go on my cyclocross / come commuter (during the CX off season). Great product - great price. Great service
Much quicker than the Durano tyres.
My go to tire for racing and training. Durable but fast.
These are fantastic tires and the bundled price is well worth it. Best tyre I ever owned! Comfortable, resistant for punctures, low resistant rolling. The best!!
Great all round tyres. Use them for races as well as commuting. Best part is its easy to put into your wheel. The rubber is soft with plenty of grip , yet it lasts longer than the other brands. Another good part is its pretty good in the wet as well.
Great tires. I was shocked the first time I put a pair of 4000's on my bike by the difference in speed and comfort from stock tires.
Best tyre I ever owned! Last long, light and great for all weather.
Bought these for my winter rides, they feel really comfortable over rough roads and the grip you get is spot on.
These are fantastic tires and the bundled price is well worth it. I have never had these tires before but they got great reviews on the Merlin website, as well as other websites. I'm a recreational cyclist and these are racing & touring tires, but I wanted to give them a try. I had difficulty mounting them to my H Plus Son Arechetype rims despite using good techniques. Finally had to resort to using tire irons to get them on. Initial ride feels good, although I'm not sure that I am a "sophisticated" enough rider to discern any glaring differences from my other tires (Panaracer Pasela 700c x 32). I am still playing with the tire pressure also. Overall they seem to be good tires, but I haven't had them long enough to really give an in depth review. Thanks.
I use these for commuting and training. GP4000 remain my favourite tyre, from a grip in the wet, feel, comfort and speed point of view. (Is there another view?) Since first using GP4000s I've tried Vedestein Fortezzas (fast but sketchy in the wet and they don't seem to wear) and Hutchinson Fusion 3s, tubeless (no punctures but also sketchy in the wet and a bit uncomfortable, despite running them at only 76psi front / 80psi rear (I'm about 67kgs) they feel a bit on the non-compliant side). Put it like this: in damp conditions I never fell off on GP4000s but did twice on the Vredesteins.
Grippy, supple-feeling, and fast. You won't find a race-ready tire of this quality for much cheaper
Purely a racing tire, in my opinion. Not as cut resistant as the gatorskin, but a smoother ride.
Very good quality, nice fit, a bit heavier than my last pair but much thicker on the middle section of the tyre so should get less punctures. The two inner tubes that come free with the wheels are good quality.
They were very tight to get on the rims but now that I've had a decent'ish run out on them I am very happy with the grip (wet road conditions) and they seem to roll quicker than my previous stock tyres.
These tires have been great. It seems like theses tires last forever, control in corners are great!
Having shifted some time ago onto the 25 m tyres and found them to be much more compliant on longer rides due to the lower tyre pressure I am able to run, I had hesitation in fitting them to my new Giant TCR. Once again, the resulting rides over longer distances are less fatiguing than rolling on 23m tyres....Very happy so far and haven't had to use the free tubes supplied with them!
Outstanding value tyres. My experience with these has been much more reliable than even the higher end winter training tyres made by Continental itself.
I reluctantly tried the GP4000 as a race tire. They tend to weigh a little more than advertised, but roll super fast and smooth, and so far seem to be relatively puncture resistant compared to the average racing tire. The tubes that come in the twin pack aren't of equal caliber, but who couldn't use a couple extra tubes? The twin pack with the tubes is a value so good it's tough to beat.
These tires are light grippy and puncture proof. Great price and service as always!
These are the best road tyres on the market. I have tried many brands but always come back to the price I could find on the web.
Best all around road tire out there!
In my book, the best tire on market for the price and absolutely for long life. Being 235 lbs, I'll ride them 2,000 miles and then give them to a few 160 lb guys that will get another 1,000 + miles. Great construction, extremely minimal flats if properly inflated. Gold Star !!
Coupled with the RS81 wheels, this was a very good investment. I felt a big difference with start-up speed. Compared to stock tires for Allez, this one is lighter and somehow picks up speed quick. it's not too flashy and does its job very well. I'm happy with the tires.
Have used thes tyres for many years. They have good wear, puncture resistance and are comfortable. After trying many other brands I always come back to these. Highly recommended.Other riding colleagues have been converted too
On my second set of these. Perfect balance of speed an comfort. Outstanding grip. Faster feel and more compliant than vredestein senso. Can't compare puncture resistance as neither have punctured on me.
Thoroughly reliable tyres with great performance. I use these all the time on my training bikes.
Tyres are the best I have ever used, very hard to get a puncture with them. They are very fast.
I went through two pairs of these tires last season without any flats. I put on over 3000 miles on each pair. They are great all around training and racing tires.
Bought one pair for road racing bike and another for my Tri bike. The old tires went to my training wheels. I have yet to get a flat them. Nice riding tire.
This is the tire I always use. I get about 8,000 to 9,000 miles on the front and at least 3,000 miles on the rear. Good ride and durable. I ride 9,000 miles per year.
Best tires hands down. Excellent grip and traction for racing and great durability too.
Order received in good time. Love the Continental Grand Prix 4000 S II 25mm tyres - they are noticeably more comfortable than the 23mm version when ridden at 90psi . They are not much heavier, and seem to have the same low rolling resistance.
I have had several pairs of those tyres, I feel they are nearly bomb proof as I have yet to have a puncture with them. I find them very fast and safe.
Light, reliable, durable, good resistance to puncture and assure you a good adherence even in wet or rough conditions.
Good rolling tires. Happy with my upgrade.
Arrived 7 days to Canada. Easy to mount. Soft supple rubber compound. Smooth rolling fast tires for my road bike.
I ordered this set to replace my previous pair. These tires hit the sweet spot in terms of ride quality, longevity, speed, grip, and durability. I usually get between 4000 and 5000 km out of these tires without any major damage. The tread compound is grippy to the point that, if I didn't race on tubulars, I would not hesitate to race on these tires. If you run them between 80 and 90 PSI, the ride quality is pretty good. Note that for pressures above 90 PSI, I've found that the ride quality is harsh (I'm 64 kg). Finally, the two free inner tubes just sweetens the deal by giving you two spares. The tubes are heavy, but you're training on them, right?
Moved from Schwalbe Extremo to Continental GP4000 S II recently. Rolling resistance is just as good and cornering feels much more secure. Have added Pit Stop to the tubes even though puncture resistance is reportedly very good.
Absolutely fantastic! Good rolling resistance and good grip!
As usual, a very good tire for almost all conditions. Conti GP4Ks are my favorite for training year round and racing on wet or rough roads. The two free tubes that come with them are nothing special but fine for training. I use a lighter tube for racing.
I've always had great luck with GP4000's and it's been the same with these. Roll great, stick to the road. No need for anything else.
A relatively light and modestly treaded tyre that will perform better in wet weather than slicks. The tyre appears to be quite thin so no convinced it will avoid punctures as well as some other brands/types, nor will the tread cut through as much water as some tyres. Good for fast damp conditions but probably not the best choice for the more extreme wet and cold conditions that the winter will bring.
Just used these tyres to ride up the Stelvio and Gavia excellent ride and superb grip on the descents even in the wet. Highly recommended
The gold standard for all-round tires. Fast rolling, puncture resistant, plenty of grip and light enough
A step up from the earlier GP4000S which I used for years. Great traction in all conditions and low rolling resistance.
Had these before and are really great autumn/winter Tyre definitely have good grip in wet damp conditions and rolling resistance is hardly noticeable compared to slicks
I had run a set of the GP4000s on my bike for 4000 miles without any problems so had no doubts about replacing them with the newer version. They roll fast, have good puncture protection, last well and most importantly give confidence in both wet and dry. Price was as good as I could find and got 2 conti tubes free and the service from Merlin was as good as you get. Happy all round
I have only owned these tyres for a short time, but I can agree with the other positive reviews. The tyres feel much lighter than the ones I had previously. They are also easier to fit over the rim. The 25mm width brings some welcome comfort and seem to roll just as fast as 23mm tyres. They use some quality rubber and have given me extra confidence when cornering. An added bonus is that they came with quality inner tubes. A great price and excellent service from Merlin Cycles too! Totally recommended.
The best tyres I have ever had - fast and very durable. Two years and still puncture free. Now I am going to try them in the 25mm version.
I ride in a city with some very beat up roads. Thought I would give the 25mm a try. Went out on some bumpy roads and found these held up very well, and the comfort level was nice too. Always impressed with Continental products and always satisfied with Merlin's service. Highly recommend.
These tyres were recommended by so many people after a number of punctures so I took the plunge. Bit tricky to fit but so far so good. Free inner tubes were a bonus.
This is not the first time I used this tyre; I did try another brand before but my experience I got to replace it after only a few months or ride; I switch back to continental one. I believe that it should last for at least 1 year (~5000km for my case when I first used 4000s tyre) and in turns will save my pocket.
Brilliant tyres, this is my second pair for my summer bike would highly recomend.
Superb tyres, light, responsive and reasonably puncture resistant for the weight. I've used them for years. Recommended. Unfortunately the inner tubes are too heavy and not a good match for the tyres. So I'll save them for winter.
Not much to say about these. Thousands of miles on GP4000 tires and never an issue.
Arrived promptly and as ordered. Seem to have good grip in all conditions so far and seem to ride nicely - happy with my choice!
Received them within a reasonable amount of time, certainly worth the wait for this price. I've only had them for about 3 weeks, but after 300k of riding on both paved and accidentally gravel roads, the tires seem like a worthwhile upgrade from the stock Mavic tires that came with my wheels. Note: the 2 free tubes included are generic, not Continental brand, although I'm sure there's no real difference there. These tires are obviously the most popular road bike wheel out there, and Merlin has them for the best price anywhere. No complaints.
Moving from 23 to 25 makes such a big difference to comfort /grip and even speed. As always good price and speedy delivery from Merlin!
Great tyres once they're on but very difficult to fit on Mavic Kysriums. Need to think seriously about if I'd be able to get one of theses back on after a puncture in the Mendips at 0 degrees on a January morning..
Fantastic, fast rolling tyres. I bought them in 25c but they inflate quite fat. More like 27c but man do they roll well.
Great value ! These last easily 2000 km
Excellent tyres for racing or training.
Super fast, very little rolling resistance. You could feel the difference immediately!
Killa tyres! Conti's are great value. Roll smooth and last well considering the roads I ride
The tire is new and seems much quicker than the old tire, but the old tire is worn down and has bigger contact patch. Still, the new Conti's are impressive and seem to roll much faster. I got 25 mm this time, a previous order I got the 28mm and those didn't fit most of my bikes. No problem so far with 25mm. As my other bikes tires wear out, I'll replace them with Conti GP4000 black chili as they are simply the best tire I've used so far.
These tires have become my go to tire. Previously used Gatorskins and these offer similar levels of flat protection while offering a more grip and comfort on the road.
My favorite tires. Smooth, comfortable, and grabs the road.
Had several pairs of these so far. I buy them as I can't find anything wrong with them. I'm no pro rider, but I know when a bike feels stable and has plenty of grip. I use these all year round, and can't recommend them enough.
Very good rolling resistance, great comfort, best tyres I've ever used for long distance
How good these tyres are hardly needs more comment. They do flat more often than the Grand Prix 4 Season and don't weigh any less, but they have a much more supple and grippy feel. Very hard to get onto my Pacenti SL23 tubeless-ready rims; fine on normal clinchers. The free tubes are 60mm and pretty heavy (ca 120 gm).
Great pieces of kit! Swapped to these for the first time tonight in a 10 mile TT and instantly took over 3/4 of a minute of my PB to go sub 24 for the first time! Money well spent, highly recommend.
With the opportunity to test a lot of different tires, I have yet to find a better work house tire like the Grand Prix 4000 S II. These are reliable, durable, and very rarely get any flats even on rough roads and under heavy fire from debris during the winter/spring in Utah. Though they're certainly not as supple like a vittoria or challenge, they're perfectly capable in tight cornering and "feel" plenty fast enough to handle any road race. If you don't want to run a training specific tire and race specific tire, this is the tire to go with. It can handle it all and last a very long time doing so.
Great deal on this pair of continental types, once you ride with these you won't settle for anything less.
Great tyres. grippy, easy to fit, reasonably robust and puncture proof, pretty fast rolling. Tyres are by definition a compromise, but these are a pretty good combination of features for racing, training and everyday use.
These really are the reference for best all round tyres. Good weight, good grip and great puncture resistance.
I highly recommend these tires to anybody who is looking for an upgrade or replacement. These tires are super grippy and yet smooth. I feel less discomfortable and able to maintain my speed and go faster.
Everyone loves these tyres - and with good reason. Stands up to punctures, rolls well and grips in the corners. !
Easily the best tyres that stick to the road whilst increasing performance. 25s are the new 23s.
Best tires I have ever used as well as a great deal. I will be ordering my tires as well as othe cycling parts needs from Merlin. Great prices and fast delivery to USA.
These are great tyres. Fitting was easy (but not TOO easy) and they roll beautifully.
Fourth set I've purchased and used. The first lasted over 4,000 miles. Great bundle deal, especially when compared with single tire price at LBS.
Easy on, only 200miles use so far but no issues at all and grip is great. Last set did over 2000m with no problems & only 1 puncture
Quality tyres, good grip in all conditions. A must have in the wet
There is only this for a tire. This is best!
These are the best tires I have ridden on by far. They offer a soft comfy ride while providing great adhesion to the road through tight corners. I can rely on these tires on steep windy descents to hold a line without the worry of slip or roll over. They are also extremely durable. I managed 8000k on the first pair without a single flat and they're actually still in decent condition. I highly recommend these tires.
Great tyre. Long lasting and excellent puncture resistance
Continental GP4000 S II - Hard wearing, reliable and fast and with the bonus of a couple of spare tubes makes them great tyres for Junior racing on Aussie country roads.
These tyres roll really good and make you feel safe whilst taking corners. Not used enough to comment on their durability, yet.
Bargain price for a well known performer. Great tyre with good rolling speed and grip. Haven't used in wet yet, kept on the tt bike as a race tyre for triathlon.
Great tires...good resistance to cuts and punctures. Really grip well in corners and I get a good amount of miles out of them.
So much grippier in both wet and dry than my old tyres, and really unbeatable value. Can't comment on durability yet, but with quality this good in other areas, they're worth it
The best overall tires I've ever used on a road racing bike.
Excellent. Fitting was easy. Rode 60 miles on first trip and found the wider tyre gives a smoother ride with better grip on corners and no noticeable reduction in speed. No punctures so far!
Fabulous tyres, look great and grip well on the road. After me and my cycling partner both (thats 4 hands) struggled to get the original tyres off my bike when I got a puncture, I took my best mates advice to get rid and get these. Fitted them the night before a 55 mile sportive and loved them all day, smooth on the flat and grippy raking over into corners. Even rode with less pressure (80 front,90-100 rear) and was as smooth as anything. Highly recommended.
This my first pair of Continental tyres after using virtually every other brand including open corsa CX over the years. These are quality straight out of the box. The 28mm tyres really are significantly more comfortable than my previous 23mm tyres. Check your frame clearance though. They ride superbly at 90psi. I cant praise them enough and will probably stay with these tyres for years now.
Great tyres. Better handling, speed and comfort in the 28mm size than the same tyre in 25mm. Best price on the web as usual from Merlin.
Moved up to 28mm from 25mm. Low rolling resistance is noticeable, more comfortable and no real negatives for me as a 40+ year old.
I didn't ride long enough but on daily rides, these tyres are real deal. They have both comfort and handling also it has a good protection on bad surfaces. I expect them to be good but it is beyond my expectation. These tyres are good choice for both long and short rides.
I first tried Continental GP 4000S 11 2 years ago, I ride approximately 300 plus kilometres per week having tried other brands these are the tyres I feel most confident in even descending at 70 plus km/h compared to other tyres I seem to get less punctures and these appear to roll better and appear to have better grip around corners. Very happy with the product unless something better value for money comes up I will stick with the GP 4000 S11
The standard in road tires. Bought to replace older 4000's - I wouldn't use anything else.
Sticky, realky grab the road. I can't speak to their durability yet.
I have observed a noticeable improvement with these SII tyres compared to my weary GP4000S in that they seem to roll further and the walls seem stiffer. Very happy to do business with Merlin Cycles too.
Have been running the GP4000 series tires for a while now and have nothing bad to say. They offer decent flat protection until they start to get really worn and they roll quite quickly. Great deal on a set of a rubber!
Great tyres, roll very well, super strong and puncture resistant, this is my 3rd set now.. great bundle price too...
Your go-to clincher tires for british bumpy roads. May not ne the very fastest, but they do survive munching glass day-in, day-out...
GP4000 S II - Amazing tyres. Get them, you won't be disappointed with the performance and puncture resistance.
As usual...... great prices and fast delivery. These Continental GP's are great tyres, I must have had 4/5 sets over the last few years - never have any trouble with them, ride well, comfortable, roll well, easy to fit, pretty puncture resistant (don't tempt fate!), really great tyres.
Great road feel, but the apparent lack of any sidewall protection gives me some concern regarding durability down the road.
I've been running schwalbe on my winter bike but after a series of punctures decided it was time for a change. The tyres feel fast on the straights, and almost sticky in corners. I also like their softer feel, seem to smooth out the vibration from the road. I can't comment on puncture resistance yet, they have only done 100 miles. The inner tubes I probably won't use, they have extremely long valves and feel heavy.
Benchmark road tyre. Rolling resistance doesn't seem quite as good as I remember, will try the crosa cx for main summer duties. Ive tried a few various top tyres and somehow always come back to these. Wish the tpi was higher and they made a more supple version of this.
These are the best tires on the market. They last forever. They resist flats. They're lightweight. I'm partial to the 25mm size for lower rolling resistance and a smoother ride.
Best tyres around in my opinion. I have never flatted on these.
Fantastic tyre. Excellent absorption of bumps on the road and very nice rolling resistance.
I bought these as I had used the older version 4000s and thought they were excellent. Well in true Continental style the latest version 4000s II are equally good. These tyres are best used IMO on a summer bike. Plenty of grip and fairly lightweight makes a great combination for a road tyre.
Best racing/training tyres out there. Great in all conditions especially wet.
Excellent tyres, easy to fit, low rolling resistance. One of the best upgrades you can make to your bike!!
Excellent tyres and grip. I have a set on all my Raod Bikes and so do many of my friends. Good Price at Merlin Cycles as well
Love Conti tires! It really does feel like these roll smoother and with less resistance. They last a long time too, great tire, highly recommended!
Great tyres, gripped well in wet race conditions
Best tyres ever purchased to date - superior grip, smoother ride, lower rolling resistance. Questionable quality of free tube provided.
Have replaced last three sets of tyres with these, and at this price they represent great value
Great tire! It has a secure and smooth ride. It also has great flat resistance.
These tires are amazing, in the 25mm width they are fast and comfortable with great life
I just converted from 23mm to 25mm and I am not sure there is a difference. The performance is definitely not lower at least in ideal conditions. I think the advantage of the 25mm will show in rougher roads and wet conditions.
These are the best tires. I've tried many and always go back to this. Fast shipping to the States too.
So much grip ! Much more than the yksions they replaced. Quick delivery, best price from merlin.
Awesome tyres, real grippy in the dry but haven't had a chance to test them in the wet just yet but if they're just as good or better than the 4000S Mark1 then they'll be awesome
Brilliant tyres. Second pair of these I have bought: first pair lasted over 1000km and over many back roads and country lanes; second pair have only been used for winter crit racing so far and never threatened a skid or slip even in wet and near-icy conditions.
Second set of these tyres. I find them to be excellent, both in dry and wet. Ridden over 1500 miles on first set with no problems. Would recommend these tyres and Merlin for their great prices and service.
Ordered the new GP4000S II tyres late in the day and Merlin delivered the following morning, excellent service. The tyres are just as good as the original 4000S tyre with what seems to be better rolling resistance and I find their puncture resistance so good I use them all year round. Also got these at the best price I could find anywhere in the UK, thanks Merlin.
After 6 rides and as many punctures on the stock tyres that came with my new Giant TCR Advanced Pro 2 I've now done over 200kms on these without any! My old bike had a pair of the older models and they were brilliant so its safe to say these will be too!
These tyres are the best that I have used for years. Their low rolling resistance is very noticeable and the quality is great. They are now my first choice for bicycle tyres.
Mounted these on my Mavic Kysrium SL wheelsets more easily than my go-to Michelin Pro4 Endurance tires. They measure at 29.5mm, a pleasant surprise because I had read online that Continental tires tend to be narrower than advertised. Perhaps Gatorskins and 4seasons run small, but these GP4000s are as wide or slightly wider than the packaging indicates. Took it for a short ride to test 'em out, and the extra width really DOES make a big difference in ride quality. The roads I ride on tend to be pretty rough, and compared to 23mm it felt like I was riding on air! The Yaw tubes I have no comment on, a tube's a tube. At first I was worried that they wouldn't fit, being rated for 18/25c, but they seem to fit 28mm tires and hold air just fine after three days. They weigh 98g each, for anyone interested. This combo is highly recommended for anyone looking for 28mm tires that still have a whole lot of racing spirit in 'em.
These tyres are light, quite tacky, grip the road well, roll well, and my last pair lasted around 7000kms.
Best road tire you can buy. Grips good enough to race on, lasts long enough to train on.
Love these tires, the GP 4000s II are even better than the originals. They roll incredibly well. Great flat protection and the Chili compound makes then stick to the road!
Tires seem stickier than last generation. Good price.
Outstanding price for these tyres even before the bonus tubes. I've tried other brands a spate of punctures has me back with the ever reliable and grippy Continentals
These are great tyres. Excellent grip, long lasting , good puncture resistance and light . This is my fourth set - I would not buy any other tyre . All year round tyre . The tubes have a long valve stem and seem overly heavy buy the set is great value
I was looking to change tires after always getting flats on my Vittoria Diamante Pro Lights. These 4000Sii's are great! You immediately can tell that they are more puncture resistent by the tire material. There is a little more rolling resistence but they are grippier and more comfortable. I would highly recommend these tires.
I don't use these tyres myself as they are a bit too upmarket for my useage. However, my son swears by them for his road racing, hence I bought them for his birthday..sssshhhh.
Pleasantly surprised as to the difference in comfort upon riding with these tyres. Initially I thought I had a puncture because of the more cushioned effect than my older tyres. Excellent product.
The Continental GP0400S II tyres are probably one of the best tyres around at the moment for everyday and/or race use - a great combination of light weight, low rolling resistance and puncture resistance. I previously ran the GP4000S tyres but upgraded to the new version when my last pair wore out. It's too early to tell if the II's are a major step forward but they are certainly as good as the older version. Time will tell on longevity but hopefully they will wear at least as well if not better. An all round tyre - one of the best on the market. Unfortunately the free inner tubes are absolutely rubbish - heavy and unsupple. Don't ruin the ride of your bike by fitting these - give them away to your local charity or throw them in the bin and buy some decent tubes to compliment the tyres!
The quality of the Conti Grand Prix 4000 S II tyres is phenomenal. I won't ride anything else.
Good Value - Great tyres :-) Not used the tubes yet, they are the longer valve type. Have these on two wheelsets now - 25mm and 23mm. FAST tyres and confidence inspiring when cornering - roll well - grip well and seem pretty durable too :-)
Nice upgrade from my stock 23's. The 25's and the soft rubber allow for much more vibration dampening. I recommend upgrading to these or any 25's as it improved my ride quality ten fold.
Great tyres, now on my third pair.....would not buy any other tyre .
After many years of cycling I've come to the conclusion that tyres are the quickest, cheapest and most noticeable upgrade you can make to a bike. Assuming the wheels are in good condition and half-decent but not necessarily expensive (think Aksium etc..), tyres play a massive part in keeping the wheels rolling with less effort. These tyres are by far my favourite. They're light, comfortable, roll beautifully, and have some degree of puncture protection. Coming from the S version I think the S II is superior. I wish they were cheaper but you get what you pay for.
I usually use Mavic tyres until now! The Conti 4000s II are grippy, fast rolling and very comfortable! I went with the 25mm tyre size to give myself a little bit more confidence and these give you just that in abundance!! In the dry I can't fault the them in anyway, as for the wet, I've not yet tried but have heard great things. I also received two inner tubes too, bargain! Great price, best around infact, so look no further if you've already made your mind up on your tyre choice. Add to basket, purchase and wait for them to arrive (which was so quick that it felt like I received then before I ordered them!). Outstanding service from the Wizards at Merlin.
Brilliant product, never failed yet and this new issue promises the same
Great tyres bought two sets.
Bought these in 25mm to replace 23mm GP4000S tyres that have been GREAT. The new ones will allow lower pressure for a softer ride (95psi instead of 110psi front) with negligible extra weight (225g instead of 205g. I weighed them at 219g) and no loss of speed. Looking forward to fitting and riding them.
Fast shipping. The tires came folded and held together well by a band, which was also easy to take off. The tubes are also great quality. I had no trouble installing the tires onto my wheel, and they roll great!
I've been a big fan of Conti tires for quite some time and these new 4000 S II will continue to keep me coming back. They offer a smooth soft ride with a grip youu can trust in any tight corner at speed. With my last pair of Continental Grand Prix's I managed 4500 Klms without a puncture or flat. Great tires. The tubes offered with the bundle however are sad. They're very heavy and poor quality. I ordered three pairs of tires and tubes and had to use these tubes on a friends bike. 2 out three tubes were leaking. One through a hole at the valve the other a hole in the rubber. I gave up and gave her a spare I had from another manufacturer. I wouldn't feel comfortable giving these tubes away.
Well it is not often that I am that surprised by a product. To be honest it felt like I was riding on butter the first time I took the bike out with these on, lovely, soft, fast reduced vibration, I had some decent Vittoria 25mm on before but these are worlds apart, with some inner tubes thrown in, added to super fast delivery and of course the best price on the net, what is there to think about?? Go get some. Thanks Merlin!!
Fantastic tyres and tubes. Went for the new updated version of this tyre after the last pair had seen me through nearly 4000 plus miles! Super grip and great confidence building going into corners!! Best price on the internet I could find plus the two free inner tubes made it a great deal.
Great tyres - fairly easy to fit - excellent grip and great rollers - never going back to Schwalbe
A great tyre in its previous incarnation; now even greater.
Brilliant tyres with fantastic grip and durability. Life savers in the wet.
Superb tyres. I'd been using Schalwbe Marathon Racers for 5 years (1 puncture). These aren't that much lighter, but about 3 mph faster, and more comfortable. Waiting to see about the punctures.
Awesome tyres, loads of grip they seem really sticky, I bought them as they are renowned for their puncture protection but only time will tell. The free tubed even looked like continental as they had orange caps which was cool.
These tyres are superb, they roll well and you don`t get punctures. I recently bought a new bike and the fist thing I did was take off the tyres and put these on. I won`t use anything else. I use them for training, sportives, and triathlon.
These are my go to Tyres. On all of my 4 road bikes. Durable and trustworthy
All good so far, run smoothly, no punctures yet and quite grippy. Had a bit of a fight getting them on though!
I have been using Continental's GP4000 tires since several years, and I keep using it because it is durable, provides a good grip to the road and is fast.
These are true sizes and roll extremely well. The chilli compound and high tpi casing is a definite plus as to feel of the tyre on the road. Good quality tyres at a very good discount places Merlin at the top of my radar.
The continental GO 400 S II tyres are great tyres! They look good, were easily put on and roll well when on the bike. I'very only just put them on so hard to give much of a performance review but put them on and did a 98 mile cycle with no problems at all. I like these tyres.
Awesome tyres, long lasting and grippy
Very pleased with tyres, was rolling on 23mm gators before, these seem lots faster and really smooth out the roads. Went for standard delivery and received tyres next day, excellent service
Upgraded to these as older models (gp 4000s)were starting to wear out. Not one puncture was had on those tyres so don't expect any on these! Fantastic all round tyre
Best tyre going, perfect split of race performance and toughness.
Got these to replace my old GP 3000's and immediately felt the difference! Roll better, corner better and give a bit of zing I really need. Best price here at Merlin too and free tubes, what's not to like?
Not been fitted long, gone on couple of rides one in wet, got good grip, seem to roll better than tyres that came with mavic wheels. These are a bit tighter fit than mavic tyres, need levers, these have a bit more comfort for me maybe because running lower pressure
These are great lasting tyres and the puncture resistance is excellent, only need these through normal wear and will continue to use Continental, great tyre!
Continental GP4000S in any version are my go to tires for Sportives. I've got a set on each pair of good wheels I own.
Only done a few hundred miles, but seem to roll very well and no punctures as yet, despite hedge cutting. Very pleased
The new GP4000S II are another great Conti tyre. First time I've used 25 mm tyres...I won't be going back to narrow tyres anytime soon!
