MR Great solid wheels for my retro MTB commuter, true out the box, good price.
FJA Very pleased to find a supplier for this wheel which is increasingly tricky to find with the trend for discs. Perfect for daily commute of 20 miles running schwalbe Durano 26 x 1" tyres. Runs true out of the box and good deep braking surface perfect for koolstop cartridges. Ordered late on a Sunday evening, arrived early the following Tuesday morning. Excellent service
M C A good solid wheel at a great price. Hopefully it will give many years of service
Richard Good quality wheel. True and fast running. It's hard to find rim brake only good quality wheels these days
Mark Ordered these wheels for a bike I was building for my daughter. Wanted good wheels without breaking the bank. Everything has been great with them, exactly as advertised
Mr Redford Really good wheel set and good value for the money. Not the lightest but quite adequate for my requirements. Delivered very quickly. Have been out on them and no problems.
patrick Awesome quality! Perfect for my early 90s mountain bike turned gravel grinder build! Highly recommended!!!!!!!
Dr Barnett Arrived true, make sure you get rim tape as they do not come with any. Roll well, a little on the heavy side but seem strong enough for gravel riding
Smorgs Purchased these to upgrade a MTB brake system from V to disc. Worked great and looked great as a budget option
Mr Zorotheos Best bang for buck wheels I have used. All components are quality, these were perfect for the gravel bike conversion.
Charlie Chomp Very good wheel for the money. Have done around 100 miles with it now mainly off road and it's holding up well. There will be lighter wheels out there but it's light enough for me.
Frank Joseph These wheels are great on a budget. You won`t be disappointed and great price.
Mr Westwell Bearings aren't the smoothest but are OK for the price. Delivery was quick and efficient.
Mr Ariel A. Value for money. Its been challenging nowadays to get a decent 26" spare wheelset. This one is perfect for my very old Giant Anthem which I still love riding.
Richard Nice wheels for the price. These wheels are an improvement over many other wheels that come stock on lower end bicycles that these wheels were probably designed to compete against.
Ck Great 26" wheel set for the money, some minor scratches on the rims but nothing worth worrying about. I suggest that anyone mechanically minded should strip the hubs and re-grease for better longevity, also trick and larger riders may need to tension the spokes a little more. However this is a great wheelset which I would happily buy again.
julian Excellent wheels at a great price. Very prompt service.
Mr Charters Bought for my commuter bike. Works great, currently running it tubeless with no issues.
ian Good quality wheel, I can`t tell any difference using this wheel and a more expensive wheel it replaced, unbeatable for the price and unfortunately as a 26" user we have less and less choice now, I`m seriously considering stock piling these!
D Jones Bought these to replace the 20 year old wheels on my Orange P7 commuter bike, which had finally worn through on the braking surface. 26" rim brake wheels seem to be thin on the ground these days, so I was pleased to find these at such a decent price. They are a little heavier than the mavics they replaced, but seem well built and strong, so should last a long time. Fast delivery as usual from Merlin
Richard As usual another excellent wheel from the in my opinion the best suppliers of bike wheels in the UK.
Lukasz Bought this for an old 26" mountain hard tail to replace the original wheel set. Seems well made for the price. Recommended.
Mikl Pikl Getting trickier & trickier to find decent quality 26" rim-brake wheels for my hack bike nowadays and these ones seem very good for the cost. Rim and hub are of noticeably higher spec than anything I've come across for a similar price. Even more impressed that Merlin delivered in under 24 hrs for free!
MR P Nice budget wheel for a lighter rider. Very smart decals. Fitted this to my 14 year old's MTB. He's made up.
Mr Nyberg An exellent wheel and really good value for money! Not the lightest but perfect as an extra wheel for my trainer
Alex Still running nice and true after 6 months. Rim wear from the brake pad isn't noticeable although they've not done many gritty or sandy rides. I've not touched the hubs yet but I'm hoping to get a year or two between regreasing them
Mr Zookeeper Great quality wheel set. Cannot beat the price, Rims seem solid, quality, serviceable hubs. Well packed and are still running true.
Mike I bought this after looking around for a replacement for a bullet-proof Mavic x138 rim/parallax hub wheel & it's a great substitute. It's well built & excellent vfm. There are obv lighter wheels out there, but I use this on a hybrid set-up fitted with a Black Jack tyre riding light trails, often with a child seat attached, & it has coped just fine. It hasn't gone out of true or needed any maintenance in a month of almost constant use. Unless you are racing or really need lightweight kit this is a great wheel for the price.
Mr Wright Much better quality than the wheels that came with the bike originally. The wheels run very smooth and true. Very well finished and look even better in real life. Very fast delivery and well packaged.
Mr Pickworth Good wheels for the money! They will never be up to Mavic quality but buy budget and you expect some shortfalls. Overall they are good value if you want a budget wheelset. Otherwise spend the money and get better quality.
AndyB Only place I could find this 26" wheel online. Great quality and built to last. Thus not overly light. I've done a few hundred miles already and it is very smooth. Great service from Merlin, arrived awesomely quick and well wrapped. Many thanks for the great service.
Mr Earl I was looking for a good quality rear wheel for my On one 456 hardtail. The quality and weight of this inexpensive wheel is incredible, and it looks amazing on the bike. I will be buying the front one to get the matching set. If you are looking for a great quality, great value wheel, buy these.
Mr Bartkowiak Seems good value. Wheels were true out of the box. Good QRs which have interior cams that will be less prone to wear than the open types. Bearings not super smooth hence the star downgrade
Mr Constantine I bought the front wheel last year and it had been great- this one feels just as good- I ride cross country and road.
Mr McCardle Delivery to Spain only took 3 working days and it was free. Fantastic pair of wheels and only 80 grams heavier than the DT Swiss they were replacing. Installed them on my Rockhopper and could not notice the difference between the Mach and the DT Swiss. Great value for money
Mr crow What can I say? These are the very cheapest set of wheels around, yet as soon as I fit them they felt solid and the bike ran beautifully. They were very quick to install (even came with new quick release spindles) and had transferred my bike within an hour. They felt no heavier than what was on there already (factory bontragers), and must only be a few grams heavier than more expensive wheels. Only time will tell how long they last, but after a heavy blat over rocky terrain for a couple of hours and a ride home they still felt great. Great value for money and quick delivery!
Mr Brown I was after some cheap wheels to replace the factory wheel on my bike which had generic no-name hubs and were therefore tricky to get the correct parts to quickly overhaul, and these fit the bill nicely. They're a comparable weight to the stock wheels on my gt avalanche with low end alexrims which is expected for wheels in this price bracket. I believe the shimano hubs on these are the cheaper Malaysia versions with plastic seals rather than the Japanese versions with rubber seals (I could be wrong as I've not looked that closely), but are perfectly serviceable nonetheless. They come complete with shimano qr skewers which are fine although I'll probably replace them as the lever fouls my dropouts so have to rotate the other end to tighten. All in all a good set of wheels for my purposes.
Mr Rogers Good quality and good value for money. Just fitted them to my 10 year old GT mountain bike and it feels like new. They came with skewers but without rim tape.
Mr crowe I was on a budget, rebuilding my old frame and needed a set of wheels. I looked at options on ebay and from other companies but for the price none had the same spec. In addition the last wheels I had on the bike were made by merlin back in 1998 and had suffered 14 years of punishment so It was a no brainer! The wheels are fairly light but strong and well leced up. If you need a set of wheel fast and within a tight budget, look no futher!
Ant Jones Bought these for my rigid singlespeed MTB build so cheap and excellent quality, look amazing too. all fitted now with DMR singlespeed conversion kit on a 1998 Marin Muirwoods frame. very pleased.
Mr Townsend quality cheap wheels -what else do you need for commuting?
Mr Beynon A fast response for replacement of my MTB rear wheel to get me quickly back on the road. Loooking forward to many miles on the smart new wheel, all as accurately described on Merlin's website.
Mr MacKenzie As I'm in the process of building a bike I've not had a chance to use the wheels yet, but found the service from Merlin satisfactory.
