Seems good value. Wheels were true out of the box. Good QRs which have interior cams that will be less prone to wear than the open types. Bearings not super smooth hence the star downgrade
I bought the front wheel last year and it had been great- this one feels just as good- I ride cross country and road.
Delivery to Spain only took 3 working days and it was free. Fantastic pair of wheels and only 80 grams heavier than the DT Swiss they were replacing. Installed them on my Rockhopper and could not notice the difference between the Mach and the DT Swiss. Great value for money
What can I say? These are the very cheapest set of wheels around, yet as soon as I fit them they felt solid and the bike ran beautifully.
They were very quick to install (even came with new quick release spindles) and had transferred my bike within an hour. They felt no heavier than what was on there already (factory bontragers), and must only be a few grams heavier than more expensive wheels.
Only time will tell how long they last, but after a heavy blat over rocky terrain for a couple of hours and a ride home they still felt great.
Great value for money and quick delivery!
I was after some cheap wheels to replace the factory wheel on my bike which had generic no-name hubs and were therefore tricky to get the correct parts to quickly overhaul, and these fit the bill nicely.
They're a comparable weight to the stock wheels on my gt avalanche with low end alexrims which is expected for wheels in this price bracket.
I believe the shimano hubs on these are the cheaper Malaysia versions with plastic seals rather than the Japanese versions with rubber seals (I could be wrong as I've not looked that closely), but are perfectly serviceable nonetheless.
They come complete with shimano qr skewers which are fine although I'll probably replace them as the lever fouls my dropouts so have to rotate the other end to tighten.
All in all a good set of wheels for my purposes.
Good quality and good value for money. Just fitted them to my 10 year old GT mountain bike and it feels like new. They came with skewers but without rim tape.
I was on a budget, rebuilding my old frame and needed a set of wheels. I looked at options on ebay and from other companies but for the price none had the same spec. In addition the last wheels I had on the bike were made by merlin back in 1998 and had suffered 14 years of punishment so It was a no brainer! The wheels are fairly light but strong and well leced up. If you need a set of wheel fast and within a tight budget, look no futher!
Bought these for my rigid singlespeed MTB build so cheap and excellent quality, look amazing too. all fitted now with DMR singlespeed conversion kit on a 1998 Marin Muirwoods frame. very pleased.
quality cheap wheels -what else do you need for commuting?
A fast response for replacement of my MTB rear wheel to get me quickly back on the road. Loooking forward to many miles on the smart new wheel, all as accurately described on Merlin's website.
As I'm in the process of building a bike I've not had a chance to use the wheels yet, but found the service from Merlin satisfactory.
