Sizing Information for Shimano Shoes
Very good shoes for trekking, daily tours. I am using with Shimano A530 SPD pedals. Really effective performence increase when biking. You can walk without any discomfort (also when with cleats). Good buy.
My first SPD shoes, seems to be a really good choice for me. Nice fit and appears to be made of durable material.
Comfortable shoes and again first time I have used cycling shoes and very pleased with the quality and comfort
Ordered the next size up due to advice on various reviews I read but could have got away with my normal size. No worries though they tighten up ok, personally I would say they are only a summer shoe as the mesh panels in the side aren't going to stop much rain water etc but a good solid shoe I've no complaints and they look good too
Ordering 1 size up as recommended on many places was correct. Fit perfectly.
Great all mountain shoes. Good quality! Remember to order one size bigger than your race mtb shoes are. In shimano homepage you can get the centimeter measure to guide you.
The shimano mt43 spd shoes are great you can ride for hours in comfort, the cleats under the shoes are not pertruding in anyway you can walk about on them without the clicking noise it does its job and does it well
Comfortable shoe at a sensible price. For the money well worth getting for casual riding.
Great shoes at absolutely the best price I could find. Smart, functional, comfortable ...but do select one size larger than normal as they come in a little on the small side.
Basic, hard wearing shoes that will last forever. Cleats easily fitted after unscrewing cover plate. Usual Shimano quality, excellent fit and performance.
Ordered these for commuting, great bit of kit. Once again fantastic service from Merlin, faultless.
I am really pleased with the MT43 shoes. They are light and seem well made. I normally take size 44; but I read that these come up small and I wanted to wear thick waterproof socks, so I bought size 46 - they are perfect. My first spd shoes and I can't imagine going back to toe-clips.
Great shoes for commuting when you need to cycle and walk a bit. The size guide on the merlin website was accurate in selecting the right size for me. Good price and quick delivery.
Nice looking trainer like shoe, comfortable to wear and walk in when necessary.
Great shoes really comfy highly recommended
They are ok so far
Ordered a size larger than normal as everyone says to. Worked out well. Easy to fit cleats but find the tred on the shoe catches on the spd a little making it a more positive movement to release. Seems to be getting better with use. Shoe is comfortable with no hard plastic parts. Might be a little open for winter. Appears well made.
These shoes are brilliant. It is easy to walk in them and the cleats click into the pedals and out of the pedals very easy. You definitely have to order the shoes one size too big. I am normally a 43 but i ordered size 44 after reading some reviews on the internet. The size 44 was just right size for me. They also look like normal shoes so when you hop off your bike to pop into a shop or pub you don't look like a cycling fanatic.
I normally take a size 43 but after reading up on Shimano shoes and trying some on in a local store, I opted for the 45 which turned out to be a good fit.
In use, either walking or cycling, they are comfortable and they look good (ordinary) enough to wear casually (meaning I don't have to take another pair of shoes to work etc, wish is a big bonus).
There is ample room for adjustment re: the cleats (not included). I use these with Shimano 324 hybrid pedals and they are perfect for me (my first ever SPDs).
I have quite poor circulation in my feet and these shoes are not air- (or water-) tight, so my feet get a bit cold (note that they might be fine for most, especially during the warmer months). As a result I have bought some neoprene overshoes which I can wear if things get too bad.
The velcro strap keeps the shoe nice and tight plus it keeps the laces well out of the way of the drivetrain.
All in all, I couldn't ask for more in a pair of SPD shoes - they represent excellent value for money and are very well made.
One other tip - there are four holes in the base of the shoe for the cleat (which only needs two holes). Shimano provide a sticker to cover up the unused holes, so that water doesn't get in. I didn't think that looked very durable so I used some household silicone sealant (like you get from DIY stores) to seal up the holes. This seems to have worked a treat.
The first pair were too small despite ordering a size larger than normal-they were long enough but too narrow. Ordered the size larger which duly arrived next day and posted the first pair back. Slightly miffed at having to pay return postage when competitors offer a free return service but should have read the returns policy first! They were however cheaper than elsewhere.
Not as grippy on flat pedals as my standard trainers but seem perfectly adequate with spd pedals. Not sure about their waterproofing-when you fit the cleats Shimano supply a sticker to go inside under the insole to cover the screw holes-fiddly to fit and doesn't seem terribly waterproof. May need some Duck tape as well. As a first pair of spd shoes I cannot fault them but be aware of the sizing.
great 1st shoe for me and excellent value for money. very comfortable & ok for walking of bike
Brilliant service, shoes arrived within 24 hours of ordering. Will order from Merlin again
I've cycled over 250km in these (with the Crank Brothers Egg Beater 2) and they've been very comfortable. No complaints.
Great shoe for the money and comfortable.
I wanted a mid range shoe to start off with as i had never used SPD's before and didn't want to spend a fortune just in case i didn't get on with them.
Setting up the best position of the cleat is a bit of a pain but once you get them right then they are really secure (as long as the screws are torqued correctly).
They have very good ventilation around the shoe a seem to be fairly water resistant although i haven't tried them in extreme conditions yet.
Great value and great service from Merlin. Unfortunately ordered the wrong size but they had my replacements out by return. I'll be back!
