These XT components are great quality and shifting is very smooth, very happy with my changes to Shimano!
Excellent quality for the cost. Can never go wrong with XT.
What to say about XT? One of Shimano's legendary products still delivers
Unbelievable value for this workhorse groupset. The drive train works without fuss and is easy to setup as well as looking great in black. The brakes are easy to bleed and setup and stop as well as the XTR brakes I have on another bike. At this price you just can't go wrong.
Precise shifting, easy to install - all in all a cracking groupset. Can't see me ever going back to a double or triple on the MTB.
Brakes are on par with the M785 but with some additional refinement, which is a good thing. The drivetrain is the real shining star of this groupo. The shifts are dead on and very fast, no longer slow and vague like the previous shimano drivetrains. I installed the rear deraileur, set the limit screws and rode. I literally never touched the barrel adjuster and didn't need to.
XT 8000 1x11 groupset w/ brakes. Shipped 2/16/2016 (UK) and received 2/18/2016 (US) through UPS. Fantastic! Notified on each step before shipping. EVERYTHING shipped was EXACTLY as described on the web. Installed on 2014 Specialized Camber using Praxis BB conversion to PF30. The group installed flawlessly and to spec. I have used it on three rides (yeah! spring is here) and shifting is deliberate and precise (new style tension springs in shifter) with rapid shifting and the quick response from the mid cage rear derailleur. The 11 x 42 rear cog set is solid and no slips with the narrow wide chain (supplied). The XT brakes have benefited from the XTR tech from last year. The modulation in them is more than the 2014 XT brakes I was running. Smoother braking action (didn't think that was possible) with more grip in reserve when needed. Have used them on 9% and higher grade with no sense of lock out and out of control through rocks. Do not hesitate to look to Merlin Cycles for biking needs! Merlin Cycles has a new (permanent) customer!!
Great Product at great Price, I really like the new XT 1x11 drivetrain, I have installled in my bike and would never go back to 2x or 3x, the brakes looks and feel very nice, I like them better than the previous model which I had for a year, Merlin actually ship me the the configuration I need, Front/left and rear/right, really fast shipping method also, you won"t have a drop chain again, the clutch and chairing tooth combination is perfect,
Compared to other manufacturers this shimano 11spd groupo is a bargain, whether it's as good I don't know as this version is all I know but you get a good gear range with the 40tooth (42 available), the chain has stayed put and you can shift down the block 2 at a time :-)
Slightly easier to install over the past M785/M780 versions. Performs incredible. The 42T is tough to get right as you may have to remove a few crankset spacers to get it to align properly. Otherwise this is what I expect from the XT level from Shimano.
