Mr Hatcher Great for giving you the extra big gears for those big climbs. Paired it with a 11-34 cassette with no problem.
Mark Very smooth and accurate. Got the medium cage and 11 - 32 cassette. Great to have this range of gears.
Mr Neuenfeldt Works the way I have come to expect with Ultegra. Tucked in much tighter to the bike compared to the 5800. Nice to be able to use a 36t cassette.
Cihat Smooth and fast gearing with good price fast dispatching from MC.
Simon Bought to accommodate 32-11 cassette. Was concerned about compatibility with 6800 levers but all ok. Be warned mine came in OEM package so missing replacement cable sheath but not a problem for me. Cable fixings are different locations to 6800 version , I needed to replace cables as too short for this cage. Also be careful to mount correctly- read Shimano instructions else it will be on but rear wheel removal becomes impossible- many on internet seem to be complaining about this. If in ok then no probs!!!Fast delivery and competitive pricing separate Merlin from the rest
Vitali Evdochim Simple but efficient packing. Shimano product, almost plug and play. Looks great, works smooth.
Justin Ervin Upgraded to this from Tiagra, needless to say significantly better shifting and weight savings a plus.
Mr BROWN Pair this with an 11x34 cassette to climb walls and then sprint down the descents. Looks even better than the 6800 and is technically improved maybe with the exception of the barrel adjuster.
Jordan Can't beat Ultegra's price and reliability for its shifting performance
JOHN This rear mech is the latest shadow derailer. I have one already on my winter bike and was so happy with its performance I wanted one for my best bike. It shifts perfectly.
Mr Ami Best shifting derailleur Shimano has ever designed and I own both the electric and mechanical version. By moving the derailleur under the chain stay the chain stays on the pulley longer giving a positive, smooth shift.
RVH So far so good. I'm using it with 2 cassettes. 11-25 and 11-34, and though the 11-25 is technically below the minimum recommended range for this RD, it shifts just fine even with the b screw adjusted in for the 11-34. You do have to be very careful with chain length with the 11-34 so you can't go braindead and mistakenly shift to 50:34 and bend something. It does (barely) cover the entire 39 tooth range as advertised.
gregory Incredibly smooth shifting. Much improved from the Shimano 105 that came on the bike. Thanks Merlin
Alastair Stedman Amazing rear mech. Smooth shifting. No need for for Di2 when mechanical is this smooth. Shifting action is very light. 10/10 would recommend.
Mr Arslan Takes really really less time to adjust from others before it. Shifting is easy. Don`t forget to add grease to cable entering point. (I adore it just for not using philips screw, this allen head makes everything easier)
Andrew Typical quality item from Shimano. Mid cage on my 2x cross bike, shifts nicely.
Mr Condon Excellent shifting. So smooth and crisp
Andrew Super-sharp shifting and looks amazing on the bike too. I like the new 'shadow' angular, low-profile design which should help reduce damage to the derailleur in a crash. Feels like a big step-up from the already excellent 6800 Ultegra, and for most people Ultegra R8000 is the best Shimano option for both racing and training. Essentially the same performance as Dura-Ace for a lot less money and only a small weight penalty.
Duane Comins Looks the part and functions well. Once set up the gear changes are crisp and clean.
Mr Dominguez Wanted an Ultegra 11 speed rear mech and was deciding between this and the older 6800 version. Went for this one as it has the new shadow design which I thought was good. Fitted it easily to my new bike and it looks great. The cable holder is in a slightly different place to the older non-shadow style mechs so I had to shorten the outer cable but that wasn't an issue. The only negative is the barrel adjuster which I don't find works particularly well. I am tempted to swap it out for the older style one on one of my old mechs.
Eymard Easy set-up and replaced my 105-5800 with this. Shift is light and looks good on my bike as well
Mr Lever Swapped this derailleur from the previous RD6800 model. There is a notable change in shift quality compared to the older model, more noteable on the downshift where the lag between lever click and gear shift is reduced. Shame its slightly heavier than the mech it replaces. Good value , makes the 105 range look at little pointless now.
Mr Wehrman Silent, light and stylish this is my favorite Ultegra build by far.
Smash Looks great, certainly changes much smoother than my 105 5800
Charles Big upgrade from 6800, very fast and precise on my CX bike
Mr BARROS I am very satisfied with this Shimano Ultegra RD-R8000 Rear Derailleur. Very light, precise in the exchanges. Perfect!
Darren Looks stunning and like the shadow set up. Great that they have combined the short cage and 30t cassette to give a great climbing set up that doesn't look like you are running granny gears.
GFGraeff Works perfect with my Shimano Ultegra 6800 groupset. Shifting is way better and more stable than ever. I believe its because the shadow type design and the new guide pulley design. Great product from Shimano as always.
Robert Derailleur works as advertised. Have it paired with RS 700 shimano road trigger shifter and it is smooth and fast shifting.
