The original Castelli Sorpasso cycling bibtights were widely recognised for their great fit and exceptional comfort even down to very low temperatures. The Sorpasso 2 brings with it all the benefits of the original with some additional elements to make comfort and performance even higher than the first generation bibtight. Thermoflex Core 2 fabric has been included over the thighs and back of legs for extra protection without any restriction to movement while a 3D band has been added to the lower back to give additional comfort and support which noticeably reduces fatigue over longer distances.
Able to cope with a wide temperature range thanks to an inner layer of hollow core polyester these excellent bibtights will keep you warm and insulated but also allow for excess body heat and moisture to escape. The brilliantly comfortable Progetto 2 Air Seat Pad makes a welcome return after proving itself in the original Sorpasso, allowing you to be able to ride further, for longer while the YKK camlock ankle zips make putting on and securing the Sorpasso 2 bibtights quick and easy; finally, the addition of reflective zip covers brings an element of safety in low light conditions.
Thermoflex Core 2 front and knees for extra warmth
Thermoflex over thighs and back of legs for extra stretch
3D support band at lower back
Flat bib straps for extra comfort
Progetto X2 Air seat pad
YKK Camlock zippered ankle openings with GIRO elastic
Reflective zip covers
Suitable for a temperature range of 5 - 12c
Really comfortable, and does well in cool/cold weather. Sized small. I had to go a size up from what I usually wear. If you are on the border according to the size chart, definitely go up.
Excellent fit and does not restrict legs at all. Progetto chamois works fine and tight support core very well. Seems to work fine from +14c to at least +6c.
A quality product ideal for New Zealand (North Island) winter an spring conditions. As others have mentioned these are made to fit 18 year olds. So if your a typical MAMIL go 2 sizes up from your normal. I wear a Large in the Castelli regular bib shorts and a XXL Sorpasso tights are a snug fit around the waist!
Another Castelli item I have been waiting for to appear in the sales.... I have a pair that I used last year through the winter but have already made the decision to commute more on the bike through the winter so had it mind to have another pair.... size up as its Castelli, I`m in a medium for everything else but a large in Castelli... great seat pad and lovely and warm in the cold, ridden a good couple of hours in them on some extra long rides home. Can`t recommed highly enough.
Excellant for Adelaide winters. Keep you comfortably warm but not too hot and at a great price. Thanks MERLIN...
Not used yet (I bought it for super cold days that have not eventuated yet). Seems awesome value at the Merlin price.
This is my second pair of Sorpasso bib tights, simply because I rate them as an exceptional piece of kit. Warm enough for when it is in the single digits Celsius, but not overly so when it comes to going uphill fast. Highly recommended.
Went out for the first time, kept nice and warm. As to the sizing I bought the 2XL and it was a snug fit, I normally wear large as I was advised to go 2 sizes up I am 6ft and 11.5st
Disappear when on the bike they feel so good, but fit very snug for the size when trying them on.
Great Castelli quality. Vought these for 10+ degrees rides when Sorbasso wind versions are a bit too much. I go for 180cm and 80kg to have an ideal match with XXL sizing
Best winter tights I've ever worn. Definitely size up- maybe two sizes- I'm 178cm and 72kg and the XXL fit just right.
All spot on, well made and very warm for cold day riding. I`m 42"chest and 34" waist and XXL fits me, comfort fit not tight fit, if this helps for usual Castelli sizing issues.
Usual brilliant pricing from Merlin. Sorpassos are top quality, warm and look superb. Go a size up from UK sizing.
Haven't worn these yet as they had to be sent back. Did loads of research online and got the idea that L would be OK for me at 175cm and 71kg. I just found them to be too snug everwhere. Reordered an XL and think I will be good with those. Usual Castelli quality construction but consider going up 2 sizes from non-Italian brands unless you want ultra compression fit.
Good quality as usual. I ordered L isze, but it is really tight for me although I'm a little bit thin(182Cm/72Kg)
Excellent fit (one size up over normal USA sizes), very warm, very well made, great price, andvery quick delivery to the USA. Highly recommended. Thank you.
Ok so got these at a great price in 3XL. I`m 192, roughly 6` 4" in old money, and 15st 9...so big but not massive.....waist is 36". Hope all this helps prospective buyers. Castelli, as we know, is notorious for proper kit designed for very light weight whippets. I had their jerseys and shorts back in the early 80s in a Med. how times change. This fits great ..they are snug but not tight...primarily because the bib straps are under tension....they`re not uncomfortable but any taller and these would be no good. The pad is amazing...on long rides...70 plus. They are also wonderfully warm: last ride windchill took temp to -5 and legs were warm. All in all a great purchase...at a good price.
Great price but always be careful to buy a larger size . I am 6' 0" and 195 pounds and purchased the 2XXl and they are snug!! I knew this from past purchases. These tights are first rate and the price at half price can't be beat.
First off, these are not as comfortable as the original Sorpasso bib tights I owned (had to change due to crash/dropping to many lbs for old ones to be 'aero') however original sorpasso wasn't available anymore (in size I required)
I don't know what happens in the castelli design department but sequals are never as good as the first time around.
I managed to come off after around three weeks after buying these and the looked a lot worse than my original Sorpasso did after a much higher speed crash.
However I did like them enough to buy two more pairs.
The stitching for the lower shin/knee area is in a bad place as I find it irritates my back, inside knee tendon.
Material is super stretchy and will allow for those with large quads and calves (but will show red under layer) down to those with smaller leg muscles.
Zips on back of leg are really easy to use with or with out gloves and stay put.
The stitching on the pad (inside nose) has broken and can roll up, so irritates my skin, leading to discomfort on longer rides. other than that they are adequate for my winter ride needs (below 11 degrees celcius ambient temperature)
Great item and price, very comfortable and good quality
I am 1.84 size, 80 kg, got large size. It fits well. It has a great fabric.
