Castelli Trasparente 4 Long Sleeve Cycling Jersey - AW18
Castelli Trasparente 4 Long Sleeve Cycling Jersey - AW18
Around Castelli's Italian headquarters in the Dolomites Castelli have some amazing riding in the spring and fall when it’s too cold for a jersey but we don’t want to break out a heavy jacket. That’s where this jersey comes in: it’s protective enough to keep you warm but light enough that you forget you have it on. That’s where it got its name, Trasparente, which means “transparent.” You hardly notice it. Castelli gave it full front wind protection but cut it close to the body like a jersey and gave it a full thermal breathable back so you don’t overheat. But Castelli kept the other details simple, like the three spacious back pockets, the YKK® Vislon® zipper for easy one-handed opening and closing, and an anatomical fit for on-bike comfort.
- Fits like a jersey, protects like a jacket
- Gore® Windstopper® X-Lite Plus front and sleeves are windproof and splash resistant
- Warmer fabric on back for high breathability
- Full-length YKK® Vislon® zipper
- Chest zipper pocket and 3 external rear pockets
- Reflective detailing on back
- Jacquard internal elastic waist
- Weight: 292g
MichelJust perfect: fits perfectly, holds the wind and breathes as well. Great in autumn and spring conditions (tried it between 6 and 15 degrees). Mustbuy!!!
Ryan DExcellent quality, made in Italy and the material looks warm enough for cycling in sub-10 deg C weather. The orange/dark grey version is highly visible, which helps with road safety. However, please remember to buy one size up. My all other jackets are sized Large, however, the large is too tight for my 6'/180lbs/athletic build. Can't beat Merlin's price for a high quality brand, but returning items overseas isnt cheap, so please be mindful of the fit before buying.
Mr shaharVery comfortable, beautifully cut, in cold weather you feel good
KERRYReally pleased with Jersey, not really a jersey more like a jacket/jersey almost like a gabba at the front and roubaix type long sleeves, I have used in conditions from 4 degrees up to 15 deg and it was perfect I highly recommend it for spring and autum, only downside I probabaly will not be useing my gabba jersey very much anymore and at £80 this well worth it. I do really like castelli its quality
Mr BrunnerA fantastic jacket. At 8-12 degrees I have not put on anything better.
Robert, NY USAFor the most part, a nice jersey for cool spring or fall rides, but be warned about the sizing as it runs pretty small. So youll need to go one size up.
StephenGreat fit as always from Castelli providing you follow their sizing guidelines. The jersey is inbetween a regular long sleeve jersey and full on winter jacket. I`ve ridden in the UK commuting to work with it and just base layer underneath from 9-10 degrees and been comfortably warm enough. Add Castellis Perfetto gilet and I`ve been fine down to zero degrees. Very pleased.
Antonio JoséSurprised by the quality! Wide temperature range of the base that is used. Tested these days with wind and from 13º to 20º degrees and perfect with Assos Skinfoil Summer. Neck too broad that does not bother but excessive for some. 168 cm 69 kg, size L with perfect fit. In other brands I use size M. I recommend one size more than usual. The shipping, packaging and service of the perfect store. I will buy again!
bob127Great jersey, can also be used as a light jacket due to its windproof shield-effect. On cold mornings I use a lycra under-armour underneath and a jacket on top no more extra layers to keep my upper body warm.
LeeReally nice colder weather jersey but I think my Alé PRR long sleeve jersey works better without an underlayer in warmer / a wider range of conditions (ie. ~10-18ºC with mixed sun and cloud ... which covers most winter riding here in the Algarve) I find "wind stopper" materials feel cooler and and sweat up a little more on the inside (similar to a waterproof jacket) - so when warn against the skin, this jacket tends to give you cold flush chills if or when any air gets in ... but then if the sun comes out I sweat up more in it. The Alé I mentioned somehow manages to avoid this and seems to regulate temp's better ... perhaps allowing a little air through, yet not too much so can absorb and wick the sweat away slowly enough not to produce cold chills. With colder mornings and a base layer under the Castelli though, it make far more sense ... so perfectly blocks things like early morning, ~7ºC, ~40kmh icy atlantic winds ... or similarly cool mountain air. Size info: I am more a swimmer's / sprinter build, muscular, stong upper body and wider shoulders ... so ~180cm, ~78kg, ~105cm chest and ~81cm waist. The XL fits well, although perhaps not quite as snug as my Alé shirts do in XL.
Mr CrespoHigh quality, as usual from Castelli. Very stretch fit, but size M is OK for me (180cm, 70kg, slim to medium build). Maybe the sleeves are too long (I bought a second unit for my brother and I had to return it due to the sleeves length)
TapaniI Bought this in XL, I am 177 cm and my weight is 75 kg, the fit is perfect, could not be better. The fact that there are windproof parts in the front is excellent and it makes this my favorite cycling jersey. The price is high end but when you get the item you see why. It is very well made with expensive fabrics and it has a classy look and feel.
DARRENBought this for early morning rides, so opted for fluo yellow version. This jersey could be worn pretty much any season in UK. I think it could cope with most weather with the correct baselayers underneath. Ideal for cool, dry conditions anytime of year and could even repel a light rain shower. Also very nice looking, comfortable jersey with a handy zip pocket for keys, phone etc. Very happy with this purchase.
Dropped againGreat weight jersey for cooler months - fits well although the sleeves are slightly wider/looser than the perfetto but nice and long
johnGreat jersey for 3 seasons - cuts the wind, light rain and cold but breathes when working up a sweat. My go to Jersey in sub 55 degree weather. Merlin pricing on this product is excellent and I received it in U.S. within 3 days of ordering. Great service.
S JThis has quickly become my go-to jersey this spring, its light but warm, has a flattering cut, and is perfect when temperatures are 5-10
Greg MPerfect mix of a wind proof front and breathable back. Typical Castelli tight fit, you may want to size up.
Mr LightwoodVery smart looking (I had the Yellow trim for safety reasons to stand out when commuting to work) and fits well. Usual tight fit like all Castelli gear so size up. The arms let it down a bit as they do get cold quicker than the rest of the body but next ride I may try my arm warmers under it. Last ride it was 2 degrees and I only had this and a thermal base layer on. Was a bitter cold day and I was fine apart from my arms towards the end, although wasn't riding fast as it was along the canal with the missus!
Mr LopezPerfect product, can be used as a jersey or jacket at the same time
Mr McDonaldThis has been my goto Castelli jersey wear this winter! Perfect with a light base layer and temps in the 40-50sF. Great piece of clothing especially with the fluorescent yellow stripping. Very visible on those darker days on mountain roads.
