Mavic Ksyrium Pro Road Wheelset with the Mavic WTS, new 2016 model
The Ksyrium Pro uses the same technology as the Ksyrium Pro SL, which has set new standards for modern wheel building. This wheel is equally at ease on fast rolling terrain or mountain courses, and for a couple of hours or an all-day adventure.
New rim for 2016
This year we’re bringing in a new rim shape, which is enlarged by two millimeters. That might not sound much, but when combined with 25mm tyres it increases the air volume by 18%. This extra volume means you can lower the tyre pressure by 20 PSI while maintaining the same rolling resistance as with a narrower rim and tyre.
The result is greatly improved comfort with no compromise on rolling efficiency to keep you fast on the long haul. And despite the lower tyre pressure, the increased distance between the rim edge and the ground (thanks to the extra air) means pinch flats are easily avoided.
- Zicral alloy spokes are stiffer, stronger and lighter than traditional stainless steel spokes.
- Isopulse lacing pattern (radial lacing on the drive side) allows a more balanced spoke tension, giving a more stable and stiffer wheel, especially for heavy loads.
- Fore drilling creates the strongest possible connection between rim and spokes, with no holes in the upper bridge of the rim to increase stiffness by about 20%, and no rim tape needed (another 40g saved).
- And of course our new ISM4D rim means each part of the rim is precisely machined using just the right amount of material needed to provide stiffness and strength, while maintaining weight at just 400g. For a total wheel weight of only 1475g.
Matching Yksion Pro tyres
This wheel also comes with our Yksion Pro tyres, which offer a great balance of grip, rolling resistance and a low weight of only 205g in 25mm thanks to the supple 127 TPI casing, Kevlar beads and our well-balanced rubber compound.

Rob ScottI've always been a huge fan of Mavic wheels, the Mavic Ksyrium Pro WTS wheelset continue to live up to my high expectations of the Mavic brand. They're fast uphill, fast downhill, strong and look the business. The spokes are chunky and give you confidence, no noise at all when climbing; I'm 98 kg and that's a big ask from a lightweight wheel. Very impressed and would recommend yhis product.
Richard CallenderInitial impressions are very good. Out of the box they are well finished, light and stylish. Rear wheel came perfectly true, front had a small lateral deflection which was corrected with the supplied tool. A quick test ride revealed slight bearing play in line with factory adjustment, which was again corrected with the supplied tool (if this sounds off-putting, it shouldn't be since QRM+ bearing adjustment is the simplest available on the market). It is helpful that Mavic provide the necessary tools for maintenance in the package. Out on the roads, the wheels provide a nice balance between feedback and bump absorption. They have a very slight amount of flex riding out of the saddle, but not enough to create brake rub. They seem to roll forever even when going upwards, and they are very responsive when accelerating. They do have slightly noisy spokes, but I'm a 95kg rider and this is only apparent climbing on rough surfaces and is consistent with previous experiences on Mavics - I would expect them to remain durable but would have liked a spare or two supplied with the package. Braking has been excellent in all weathers, good enough to induce wet lock-ups and a marked improvement over the lower specced Equipe S rim - my previous wheelset. Regarding durability, 300 miles isn't really a proper test but these are my impressions; they are still true, the spokes do appear to chip easily, but the finish on the rims and hubs appears to be hardwearing. As the bearings have bedded in, I've had to make a couple of small adjustments to eliminate play, but no more so than would be expected. Tyres are the only slightly weak link in the package - they have decent grip when dry but are vague when wet and the rear doesn't develop particularly impressive traction on climbs. I'm not sure that this is helped by the numerous deep treads (which for some unfathomable reason appear to run backwards on the front tyre? Confusing.) They appear to be wearing slightly quickly and may not last for a great number of miles. They are the reason that I can't rate the product 5* and I would be inclined to go back to using my previous choice of Bontrager R3 tyres when these wear out. Overall however, the wheels have been great and I would expect them to provide a good upgrade for anybody looking for a quality multi-purpose wheelset.
Mr sutcliffeGreat upgrade from an older set of Sls. Done about 500km so far and they feel stronger and faster. A good improvement in cross winds too. Tyres inspire confidence, soft and sticky.
