Not as bright orange as one may think! Especially after a couple miles.
Quite comfortable. I can see myself walking around with it for the day. EU sizes, so UK user may have to get in between sizes. Lucky for me, I wear 8.5 - 9 normally and EU43 is snap bang in between.
Great shoes, fit really well and look good too. Ordered 46 which is my usual size and they fit perfect
Excellent shoes and good value. Lots of support from the stiff sole, and the colour matches my bike
Great shoes, perfect fit. I take a 45 in these shoes, vs. a 44 in ECCO golf shoes.
Nice shoes. I normally wear size 43 but I bought size 46. And they fit
The shoe was purchased to replace an aging pair of Shimano M088 shoes so most of the review is a comparison ... and the M089 doesnt fare well. The ratchet is not as positive and so far I cannot do the shoe up as tight. The centre (Velcro strap has been reversed so that you are now pulling it from the outside to the inside, so any spare strap is flapping against the crank (why reverse it?). There is plenty of room for the ball of my wide foot, but the ratchet strap only just fits over the bridge of my foot/ankle.
Having said all of that, the shoe is a good bright colour and is priced very competitively so it is still a good purchase despite its shortcomings
Great shoe, especially for the price. And comfortable.
Good fit for my wide, flat feet. Excellent price. Might be a bit warm in hot weather, but ideal for cooler, damp days.
Very good shoes. Comfortable. Very good price. You can walk around comfortably. Usually I wear sizes 44 - 44.5 here I ordered 46 and they are perfect.
Great shoe, I have quite wide and high instep feet so was rather apprehensive when purchasing my first clip in shoes. I'm normally size 8.5 to 9 depending on brand these fit perfect with plenty of adjustment for a snug fit and help you feel connected to the bike. Very happy with my purchase really love the orange.
A really great shoe. Reasonable stiff sole, easy to set up the cleats, comfortable, and you can walk/run in them for short distances. The ratchet which negates laces is great too. Recommended as a do it all budget shoe.
Excellent product, great price...didn't care that they were orange, great value, super design...(ultra critical) but they are a little tight...but I do have a very broad foot...so size up is very good advice, will be definitely using Merlin services again....great find...well done guys...
Great shoes at a fantastic price. They are snug fitting so it's probably worth buying a size above what you normally wear.
So far great shoes. They are not overly stiff in the soles, so quite comfortable when off the bike, but not too soft when pedaling. I use them for MTB, Road and commuting. The buckle is very flimsy, only time will tell if it's sufficiently strong. This is clearly the weak part of the shoe.
Very nice and comfortable.
True to size.
Yes, very Orange but these are a quality shoe! Very good support all around inc. at heel, plus good stiffness/grip balance on sole.
Ok yes they are orange but does that really matter when you wear over shoes. The main point is they are really comfortable and fit well. Good for all round use.
Good product, standard Shimano quality, however I found that the shape of the shoe is smaller than the other versions (I have the M088 model). The strap of the buckle is at the limit.
Great shoes and if they last anything like my last pair of Shimano's should see me through 1000's of miles of daily commutes. I have fairly wide feet but the standard shoes are fine with plenty of adjustment with the 3 straps. Good for walking to and from the bike shed in too and no problems on the stairs, unlike full on road shoes. Not got them wet yet but my last pair did take a while to dry out.
Japanese people should purchase eurosize larger than ordinary shoes.
We recommend size up. I usually 43 (US 9 - 9.5) (27.0 cm 3 E)
43 is just fit, 44 seems to be good. It seems that even a long ride can be used.
Excellent shoes, comfortable with no hot spots and great high visibility, outstanding value for money
Shoes arrived quite quickly (all the way to Australia). Fit is spot on and the quality is excellent for the discounted price. Thanks Merlin.
Great shoes, good fit though "snug" to begin with but I'm sure they'll loosen and the straps have loads of adjustment. Loving the colour!
Very orange! Good shoes. Fit a normal shimano. Size 9 went for the 44. Seem ok to walk in and stable when pedalling (M540 pedals so no cage). No way to attach studs which will rule them out for CX races in heavy mud. Generally great if you can get on with the colour.
Very comfortable, good adjustment, easy to walk in and feel quite rigid.
So far, so good. Easy to fit cleats, slightly narrower than the preceding pair of specialized shoes. Very orange!
Not as loose as my previous Shimano shoes (that's why I bought them). It may take a while to wear them in (3 rides and still causing feet cramping). But I have wide feet and high arch - that's why I went for the extra wide model of these shoes. Fit tightly in SPDs.
Perfect all-mountain shoe!
Interface perfectly with Shimano trail SPD pedals. Rubber sole lugs grip well on rocks (much better than my carbon soled XC shoes). Lots of length in cleat slots to mount them well back.
Regarding fit, these are true to length but quite narrow. If you have wider feet get the wide version.
Great value and Shimano has a great customer service policy. Excellent fit and very comfortable. Easy to install cleats and lots of adjustment with this shoe.
It's my first SPD shoes experience. The first thing you should know about this shoe is that you can walk easily even with the cleats mounted. They look like strong and steady. Last but not least is that shoes has also removable parts. p.s.: Order one number bigger than your normal shoe size.
