Introducing the Bont Riot , the world’s first carbon composite heat moldable entry level cycling shoe.
The Riot combines Bont's pro series technical features including our power transfer platform and anatomical shaping with competition grade materials to create the most technically advanced entry level road cycling shoe.
Please Note: Bont Shoe Sizes may not equate to your usual shoe size. Bont shoes are sized based on the length of the foot, please take the time to visit the sizing guide to make sure you get the right fit for your feet.
Microfiber upper is utilized
- Microfiber upper is used to provide the Bont Riot with a strong outer layer to withstand the rigours of everyday cycling whilst mesh inserts assist with the breathability of the cycling shoes.
Carbon Composite Construction
- The carbon composite construction of the Riot has been specifically designed to ensure maximum performance at low weight. The fibreglass tub style construction of the chassis has been strengthened with the inclusion of carbon across high stress areas. The carbon has been sandwiched between layers of the fibreglass to maximise strength.
- Z form velcro and micro adjustable buckle are utilized in conjunction with Bont's anatomical design to ensure a secure fit.
- The Bont Riot is highly ventilated via integrated top mesh panels and ventilation holes throughout the side microfiber panels.

Great fitting shoes. I'm a size uk 14 and ordered a 50, these were about 1/4 of a size to big, but after the heating and fitting they fit perfectly. The quality is great too.
The shoes out of the box didn't fit well at all. Edges of the carbon sole of the shoe was hurting my feet. I had to run heat molding process for couple of times (based on the youtube video) and used excesive force with the rear end of a screwdriver to reshape the hurting edges of the carbon sole. Surprisingly they fitted well after few runs because I thought it was money wasted after first try. So far I did couple of rides 150k total and they are good especially considering the discount price. Good looking stiff shoe if you don't mind spending some time for heat molding process.
Heat treatment is dead easy and fit is now 2nd to none. Make sure you get some one to help measure your feet when choosing the right size. I'm normally 43 but came up as 44.5 on their system
Can only give these 4 stars as I used the Bont online size guide and, despite numerous measurings and playing it safe by over-estimating, the left shoe was way too small - even after proper moulding and removing the insole. Merlin can't refund - understandably - and Bont were nigh on useless regarding communications. Kept on wearing them and ended up with ingrowing toenail on left foot.Right foot fits like a 'glove'.
Fast delivery and a great value pair of shoes. They are stiff and great for people with wide feet.
Delivery was next day even when I ordered about 4PM. The Shoes themselves are awesome. Such great response through the pedals when you want to accelerate.
Absolute joy to my feet, even before heat moulding them.
Can't thank the team at Merlin enough for their assistance. Ordered these shoes having followed Bont's sizing guide and they came up small (thanks a bunch Bont!!!!!). The team at Merlin had the problem sorted really quick (top marks as usual).
Excellent shoes, very stiff soles, bare in mind they are hand made so may come with a few subtle nuances and triple check which size you need as the sizing guide through Bont's website may not work for every one.
A very stiff but comfortable shoe straight out the box. No hotspots during first ride or aching arches. The shoe looks visibly wider so your toes do not feel squashed together. When climbing the whole sole feels like it is doing the work. Sizing is bang on if you go to the bont website direct and use there size calculator with instructions. It made internet ordering shoes very easy (not something I normally do). I would imagine these shoes will get even better once I get the cleat position correct and they have been cooked in the oven.
These shoes fitted well straight out of the box, use the size calculator on Bont`s website to get a perfect size. I am a size 48 in Shimano but a 46.5 in Bont Riot. I heat molded the shoes to get an incredible custom fit, my feet are very different from each other, my right foot suffers from a collapsed arch on long rides and generally more pronation, not a problem now these Bonts are custom molded and support my feet completely. They feel a little strange at first as they are very stiff and wider at the toes than usual to aid comfort but on my first ride they were fantastic. I have done 1000km with them now and they are like slippers, so comfortable and the stiffness noticeably aids my climbing and putting power down. 100% Bont convert. Had them in my hands next day with great Merlin Cycles service!
An excellent shoe. The carbon base extends out much more than other shoes and so has a much quicker transfer from power to pedal. I use these on the track and felt good on my first outing. Only issue, which may be just me but due to the carbon coming high it cuts into a wider foot such as mine which can feel uncomfortable but to me that doesn't take much away from a well made cycling shoe.
I fancied a change of footwear without breaking the bank and settled on these. The fit is better than some of the more expensive shoes I have and looks a lot better. Used these on a recent trip to France which was a big gamble. Climbing for hours on end, I never felt the pedal through the sole at all. Really stiff yet comfortable. The only downside (for me) is the stitching around the sole were it joins the uppers doesn't look great. But at the price I paid that might be a little unfair.
